Branded apps in Spain as a means of communicating trends in fashion

Apps are of great interest and curiosity for the users of mobile phones, being already highly unloaded and used for the users of smartphones. The fashion mobile applications represent only a fraction of the mobile global applications (almost 0,2 %), nevertheless they are starting to deserve special attention from designers and researchers in this area. Brands want to know about the new trends in the market to be able to continue surprising and impressing their public. In this study, we seek to identify the most relevant aspects of the applications that help to improve the image of the Spanish prêt-à-porter fashion brands such as Zara, Pull and Bear, Stradivarius, Shana, Bimba y Lola,... The study considers the position in the ranking of downloads, the category, the opinions, valuations of the users and the criteria described by Jami Lawrence (2010): amusement, saving of time and / or comfort in the use. Findings: In this analysis, we seek to identify the most relevant aspects of the applications that help to improve the image of the brand, in this particular case of the Spanish prêt-à-porter fashion brands. - It is indispensable that the applications entertain the user, save time and / or comfort, we have observed that they are these characteristics those that are valued by the users. - Another factor that is valued in the applications, is that the application should make sense for the user and to have an added value that doesn't necessarily have to be related with the nature of the brand. - But it is important that applications to be developed have to be coherent with the identity of the brand. As in any other area, the appearance of new mass media, like the mobile, is the introduction of new challenges. – Finally, it is important for the brand to adapt constantly to the new technologies, but we must not forget that a precarious incorporation and badly developed app it can be more harmful than beneficial

Kinetic study of the CN + C2H6 hydrogen abstraction reaction based on an analytical potential energy surface

Temperature dependence of the thermal rate constants and kinetic isotope effects (KIE) of the CN + C2H6 gas-phase hydrogen abstraction reaction was theoretically determined within the 25-1000 K temperature range, i.e., from ultra-low to high-temperature regimes. Based on a recently developed full-dimensional analytical potential energy surface fitted to highly accurate explicitly correlated ab initio calculations, three different kinetic theories were used: canonical variational transition state theory (CVT), quasiclassical trajectory theory (QCT), and ring polymer molecular dynamics (RPMD) method for the computation of rate constants. We found that the thermal rate constants obtained with the three theories show a V-shaped temperature dependence, with a pronounced minimum near 200 K, qualitatively reproducing the experimental measurements. Among the three methods used in this work, the QCT and RPMD methods have the best agreement with the experiment at low and high temperatures, respectively. The significant increase in the rate constant at ultra-low temperatures in this very exothermic and practically barrierless reaction can be attributed to the large value of the impact parameter, ruling out the role of the tunneling effect and the intermediate complexes in the entrance channel. The theoretical H/D KIE depicted a normal behaviour, i.e., values greater than unity, emulating the experimental measurements and previous theoretical results. Finally, the discrepancies between theory and experiments were analysed as a function of several factors, such as limitations of the kinetics theories and the potential energy surface, as well as the uncertainties in the experimental measurements

Development of a decision support system for the design and adjustment of sailboat rigging

The two main objective of this work are: - To develop a simulation program of the behaviour of upwind sails and rigging, to help the crew to optimize the performance of the sailing yacht in real time. For this purpose, it will be necessary to formulate a fluid-structure interaction algorithm to compute the performance of a particular sail/rigging configuration. Since the crew dynamically trims the rigging and sails, in order to evaluate the performance of the actual configuration, a tool to monitor the rigging and sails will be necessary, too. - To adjust a monitoring element to quantify in physic values the manoeuvre of the crew. This will be our monitoring tool. - To reproduce the crew manoeuvre in the simulation program with the data obtained with the monitoring tool. Once the sail/rigging configuration has been adapted ‘in real time’ to the actual one, the performance of this new configuration can be computed. For this purpose the simulation program and the monitoring tool must communicate among them

Semantic Approach for Discovery and Visualization of Academic Information Structured with OAI-PMH

There are different channels to communicate the results of a scientific research; however, several research communities state that the Open Access (OA) is the future of acad emic publishing. These Open Ac cess Platforms have adopted OAI - PMH (Open Archives Initiative - the Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) as a standard for communication and interoperability. Nevertheless, it is significant to highlight that the open source know ledge discovery services based on an index of OA have not been developed. Therefore, it is necessary to address Knowledge Discovery (KD) within these platforms aiming at studen ts, teachers and/ or researchers , to recover both , the resources requested and th e resources that are not explicitly requested – which are also appropriate . This objective represents an important issue fo r structured resources under OAI - PMH. This fact is caused because interoperability with other developments carried out outside their implementation environment is generally not a priority (Level 1 "Shared term definitions"). It is here , where the Semantic Web (SW) beco mes a cornerstone of this work. Consequently, we propose OntoOAIV, a semantic approach for the selective knowledge disco very an d visu alization into structured information with OAI - PMH, focused on supporting the activities of scientific or academic research for a specific user. Because of the academic nature of the structured resources with OAI - PMH, the field of application chosen is the context information of a student. Finally, in order to validate the proposed approach, we use the RUDAR (Roskilde University Digital Archive) and REDALYC (Red de Revistas Científicas de América Latina y el Caribe, España y Portugal) repositor ies, which imple ment the OAI - PMH protocol , as well as one s tudent profile for carrying out KD
