    Integrate, Adapt, Collaborate: Comecon Architecture in Socialist Mongolia

    This paper conceptualizes the uneven dynamics of architectural mobilities between member states of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (Comecon) and socialist Mongolia, a member of the Comecon since 1962. These long, intense, multilateral, and coordinated exchanges decisively contributed to the development of the "material-technical base" for construction in Cold War Mongolia, including planning institutions as well as construction and construction-materials industries. Based on archival research and interviews in Mongolia, Russia, Germany, and Poland, we introduce the concept of "concern" and argue that the priorities, motivations, and aspirations of the professionals involved were informed by three concerns. They included, first, the concern for integrating Mongolian design and construction industries into a comprehensive network of organizations in charge of the urbanization processes; second, the concern for adapting foreign resources to the conditions on the ground; and, third, the concern for an increasing collaboration between Mongolian, Soviet, and Eastern European actors. We study how these actors followed, exploited, and sometimes challenged the political economy of the Comecon, and how they negotiated it with feedback from specific investments. We argue that the concept of the three concerns is useful for studying architectural mobilities in global socialism and across competing 20th-century developmental regimes

    In this part of the paper, the theory of nonlinear dynamics of flexible Euler–Bernoulli beams (the kinematic model of the first-order approximation) under transverse harmonic load and colored noise has been proposed. It has been shown that the introduced concept of phase transition allows for further generalization of the problem. The concept has been extended to a so-called noise-induced transition, which is a novel transition type exhibited by nonequilibrium systems embedded in a stochastic fluctuated medium, the properties of which depend on time and are influenced by external noise.     Quantifying Chaos by Various Computational Methods. Part 1: Simple Systems

    The aim of the paper was to analyze the given nonlinear problem by different methods of computation of the Lyapunov exponents (Wolf method, Rosenstein method, Kantz method, the method based on the modification of a neural network, and the synchronization method) for the classical problems governed by difference and differential equations (Hénon map, hyperchaotic Hénon map, logistic map, Rössler attractor, Lorenz attractor) and with the use of both Fourier spectra and Gauss wavelets. It has been shown that a modification of the neural network method makes it possible to compute a spectrum of Lyapunov exponents, and then to detect a transition of the system regular dynamics into chaos, hyperchaos, and others. The aim of the comparison was to evaluate the considered algorithms, study their convergence, and also identify the most suitable algorithms for specific system types and objectives. Moreover, an algorithm of calculation of the spectrum of Lyapunov exponents based on a trained neural network has been proposed. It has been proven that the developed method yields good results for different types of systems and does not require a priori knowledge of the system equations

    Impact strength of underground cement materials

    The article presents the results of a study of impact strength of underground cement materials with different water content activated by mixing water with the addition of high range plasticizers, biocidal agents, pigments, ground quartz, silica fume and fine aggregate. Samples for testing are formed in plates of size 150×100×10 mm. Testing was conducted at impact drop-weight method ASTM D7136. The maximum contact force, contact duration and magnitude of the pulse of the drummer were considered as the test parameters. The good results of the studied parameters showed highly filled plasticized compositions of the new generation. The use of iron oxide with yellow and green glauconitic pigments allows obtaining good results. Activation of the mixing water led to a rise in the maximum contact force in the case of the processing mode of E+М (3–3) while reducing the duration of the contact and the magnitude of the impulse. During the test of the biocidal composites with different biocidal preparations, it was established that the best indicators of the impact strength correspond to materials with the addition of «Teflex Antiplesen»
