El silencio de Dickinson

La vida y obra de la escritora norteamericana Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) están llenas e silencios. Podríamos afirmar que el silencio es una marca distintiva, toda vez que se hace presente en la actitud vital de la autora, en su elección de reclusión, del mismo modo que lo tematiza en sus cartas y poemas, hasta llegar al límite donde se vuelve borrosa la propia identidad poética. Si partimos desde los propios textos en la reconstrucción de la biografía, podríamos detenernos en la concepción trascendentalista y romántica de la escritora, cuyos modelos paradigmáticos de creación son masculinos, aunque desde el punto de vista biográfico se sienta más atraída hacia las grandes voces femeninas que la precedieron. El artículo se propone un acercamiento, desde los propios textos, a diferentes tipos de silencios que podemos encontrar en el corpus literario dickinsoniano

Comparación de la Resistencia a Compresión de Probetas de Concreto para un f´c=210 Kg/cm2 y f´c=280 Kg/cm2, utiilizando cemento Pacasmayo Extraforte - Ecosaco Extraforte a diferentes Tiempos de Mezclado

En la construcción el cemento es uno de los materiales más utilizados en el mundo. La empresa Cementos Pacasmayo lanzo al mercado el cemento Ecosaco Extraforte con su empaque disgregable en la mezcla del concreto. Por tal razón esta investigación tiene como finalidad determinar la variación de la resistencia a la compresión que tiene al usar el Ecosaco Extraforte con su empaque disgregable y compararlo con el mismo tipo de cemento, pero sin usar el empaque disgregable, para dos resistencias a compresión: f’c=210Kg/cm2 y f’c=280Kg/cm2. Para lo cual se ensayó 60 probetas de concreto, 30 con f’c=210 kg/cm2 y 30 con f’c=280kg/cm2 de cada grupo de 30 probetas se dividió en grupos de 15 fueron elaboradas con dos presentaciones de cementos: el Pacasmayo Extraforte y el Ecosaco Extraforte; cada grupo fueron elaboradas a 3 tiempos de mezclado que son de 2 min, 4 min y 6 min. Obteniéndose como resultados que al comparar el uso de ambos cementos para tiempos de mezclado de 6 min la resistencia a la compresión aumenta en un 1.53% cuando se usa el Ecosaco Extraforte a comparación de usar el cemento Pacasmayo Extraforte, para concreto con f’c=210 kg/cm2,y para el concreto con f’c=280 kg/cm2 la resistencia a la compresión aumenta en un 1.14% cuando se usa el Ecosaco Extraforte en comparación con el cemento Pacasmayo Extraforte; pero al usar tiempos de mezclado de 2 min la resistencia a la compresión disminuye en un 4.13% cuando se usa el Ecosaco Extraforte comparándolo con el cemento Pacasmayo Extraforte para un concreto con f’c=210 kg/cm2 y para un f’c=280 kg/cm2 la resistencia a la compresión disminuye en un 4.33% cuando se usa el Ecosaco Extraforte en comparación con el cemento Pacasmayo Extraforte. Finalmente podemos concluir que el nuevo empaque disgregable del Ecosaco Extraforte genera una disminución en menos del 5% de la resistencia de diseño con respecto Cemento Pacasmayo Extraforte al utilizar un tiempo de mezclado de 2 min; pero aumenta la resistencia en menos del 5% de la resistencia de diseño con respecto al Cemento Pacasmayo Extraforte al utilizar un tiempo de 6 min

PCR Assay for Detection of Staphylococcus aureus in Fresh Lettuce (Lactuca sativa)

The growth in food demand and production growth of vegetables have led to the development of intensive production systems with the aim of having regular access to enough high‐quality food. The aim is to determine the incidence of Staphylococcus aureus in fresh lettuce by PCR in order to enhance the efficiency for detection and identification process. The Baird‐Parker method was used for isolating pathogens from 54 lettuce samples. Genomic DNA extraction was performed according the Mericon DNA Bacteria Plus Kit. The detection by PCR was performed using the pair of primers: coa gene (5′‐ATAGAGCTGATGGTACAGG‐3′ and 5′‐GCTTCCGATTGTTCGATGC‐3′). The phylogenetic tree was constructed by comparing conserved sequences from the adjacent 16S gene, using the F2C 5′‐AGAGTTTGATCATGGCTC‐3′ and C 5′‐ACGGGCGGTGTGTAC‐3′ primers. To test the antimicrobial effect, we used the disk diffusion method (Kirby‐Bauer) using Mueller‐Hinton agar and five antibiotics with different concentrations. The incidence of S. aureus was 1.7%. All the isolates were situated in the ATCC 11632 clade in accordance with other reported sequences belonging to this pathogen in the NCBI database. All the isolates seemed to be resistant to penicillin (10U). The molecular techniques used in this study are suitable for the identification of S. aureus isolated from lettuce, increasing our capability of detecting this pathogen by improving the process and increasing the efficiency contributing to the safety of this vegetable

The impact of technology and learning management systems when creating virtual classrooms

This report is about the main tools we were able to discover as teachers for us to use with groups of students or people interested in learning English as second language. These technological tools such as Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Office 360 Suits, Kahoot, Padlet, PowToon, among many others, will help students to get connected to a new world of opportunities to acquire the knowledge they need, and teachers to learn how to design virtual classrooms to teach engaging classes at any time by just having an available network connection and a device just as a tablet, computer or even a smartphone. To bring an example, Kahoot is an online learning platform in which teachers can design many activities such as quizzes, memory games, questionnaires that help them check vocabulary reviews, and get scores from it making it an extraordinary teaching experience. This platform alone saves teachers a lot of time, and help students have fun and enjoy every single class and being a win-win for facilitators and students

Effect of neem on Phyllocnistis citrella Stainton and its parasitoid Ageniaspis citricola Logvinovskaya in Ecuador

Efficacy of neem on Citrus Leafminer (CLM) and effect on its parasitoid Ageniaspis citricola was evaluated, using field, cage and olfactometer tests. Treatments were: aqueous extract of neem (50 gL-1), formulated oil of neem (10 mL L-1) and control. Field study was done in a Citrus aurantifolia orchard, three applications were carried out, which were evaluated every 48 hours until ten days after the treatment. Cage and olfactometer tests were performed in a greenhouse and repeated twice each time. In the cage, it were used 50 infested Citrus reticulata plants per experimental unit, while for the olfactometer test, as experimental arena, transparent plastic jars with 20 adults of CLM inside were used. Variables evaluated were: CLM infestation, dead, live and predated larvae, pupae, emerged adults and parasitized pupal chambers. The highest mortality of the CLM was caused by the aqueous extract of neem with 77.17%, which began 48 hours after application, suggesting inhibition of feeding. The aqueous extract of neem showed in average 88.80 % of repellency of adults of CLM and neem oil 85.64%. The high mortality of CLM and the repellent effect of neem, seem to influence negatively in parasitism which fluctuated between 9.45 % and 20.16 % in treated trees. &nbsp
