Properties of nucleon in nuclear matter: once more
We calculate the mass and residue of the nucleon in nuclear matter in the
framework of QCD sum rules using the nucleon's interpolating current with an
arbitrary mixing parameter. We evaluate the effects of the nuclear medium on
these quantities and compare the obtained results with the existing theoretical
predictions. The results are also compared with those obtained in vacuum to
find the shifts in the quantities under consideration. Our calculations show
that these shifts in the mass and residue are about and ,
respectively.Comment: 18 Pages, 2 Tables and 7 Figures, To be appear in EPJ
Muslim and Gay: Seeking identity coherence in New Zealand
This is an Accepted Manuscript of an article published by Taylor & Francis in Culture, Health & Sexuality on 2015, available online: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/13691058.2015.1079927The process of accepting oneself as gay and of ‘coming out’ to family and friends is well documented. For Muslim men, this is complicated by the tension between their emerging sexual identity and their religious and cultural birth identity, which labels homosexuality as sinful. This paper explores this process in a sample of five gay Muslim men living in New Zealand, a liberal secular society where homosexuality is widely accepted and gay rights are endorsed in legislation. Identity Process Theory drives the analysis, which identifies five themes encapsulating the process of striving for psychological coherence: resistance, acceptance, tension, renegotiation and pretence. Initial phases of denial and anger at their emerging sexuality are strongly linked to the conflict with their religious identity. Later, acceptance of their sexuality as natural and even God-given protects them from blame for their ‘sins’. In contrast to earlier work in the UK, for most men, renegotiation of their Muslim identity is adopted as the key strategy for achieving intrapsychic coherence. However, at an interpersonal level, families remain a source of conflict, temporarily resolved through pretence. Renegotiating religious identity leaves men having to pretend not just to be straight, but also to be strongly religious.tru
More about the and mesons in nuclear matter
We calculate the shifts in decay constants of the pseudoscalar and
mesons in nuclear medium in the frame work of QCD sum rules. We write those
shifts in terms of the and scattering lengths and an extra
phenomenological parameter entered to calculations. Computing an appreciate
forward scattering correlation function, we derive the QCD sum rules for the
and scattering lengths and the extra phenomenological parameter in
terms of various operators in nuclear medium. We numerically find the values of
the shifts in the decay constants compared to their vacuum values. Using the
sum rules obtained, we also determine the shifts in the masses of these
particles due to nuclear matter and compare the results obtained with the
previous predictions in the literature.Comment: 16 Pages, 4 Figures and 3 Table
Scalar and vector self-energies of heavy baryons in nuclear medium
The in-medium sum rules are employed to calculate the shifts in the mass and
residue as well as the scalar and vector self-energies of the heavy and baryons, with Q being or quark. The maximum shift
in mass due to nuclear matter belongs to the baryon and it is found
to be . In the case of residue, it is
obtained that the residue of baryon is maximally affected by the
nuclear medium with the shift .
The scalar and vector self-energies are found to be , , , , , and , ,

Positive and negative parity hyperons in nuclear medium
The effects of nuclear medium on the residue, mass and self energy of the
positive and negative parity , and hyperons are
investigated using the QCD sum rule method. In the calculations, the general
interpolating currents of hyperons with an arbitrary mixing parameter are used.
We compare the results obtained in medium with those of the vacuum and
calculate the shifts in the corresponding parameters. It is found that the
shifts on the residues in nuclear matter are over all positive for both the
positive and negative parity hyperons, except for the positive parity
hyperon that the shift is negative. The shifts on the masses of these baryons
are obtained to be negative. The shifts on the residues and masses of negative
parity states are large compared to those of positive parities. The maximum
shift belongs to the residue of the negative parity hyperon. The
vector self-energies gained by the positive parity baryons are large compared
to the negative parities' vector self-energies. The maximum value of the vector
self-energy belongs to the positive parity hyperon. The numerical
values are compared with the existing predictions in the literature.Comment: 20 Pages, 9 Figures and 7 Table
Generalization Index: Defining a metric for the detection of smells in UML Class Diagrams in Eclipse Modeling Framework in Eclipse
In the field of Software Engineering, while designing the software design and maintaining the source code quality, a lot of good and bad practices come into being. With the continuous evolutions in the field of modeling in software development processes, Model Driven Software Development (MDSD), focuses towards the quality of software models. Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a graphical notation for expressing object-oriented designs. With its emergence as a modeling standard and being widely accepted by most software development organizations, in this research paper we focus on UML Class Diagrams. Metrics are mathematical models used for measuring. In software engineering, metrics are utilized for measuring quality aspects of software models. A manual model review is very time consuming and prone to errors, so it becomes essential to automate the tasks as effectively as possible. The Eclipse plug-in EMF Metrics supports specification and calculation of metrics wrt. specific EMF based models. A new definition technique for EMF quality assurance can be defined using Java, an OCL query or Henshin Pattern. In this paper we propose an algorithm for the calculation a new metric named Generalization Index Metric (GIX) for Java Code
Paediatric meningitis and hearing loss in a developing country: exploring the current protocols regarding audiological management following miningitis
The purpose of this study was to establish audiology referral protocols for post meningitis paediatric populations in two academic hospitals in Gauteng, South Africa. Specific objectives of this study included determining if audiological assessment referrals were made following infection; determining the time of referral post meningitis diagnosis; establishing what audiological assessments were conducted on this population, as well as determining any correlations between signs and symptoms of meningitis and referrals for audiology assessments. Medical records of 47 children admitted to hospital with a diagnosis of meningitis between the ages of birth and 6 years were reviewed following a retrospective record review design. Data relevant to the current study were obtained from hospital records and this was captured in a data spreadsheet. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were implemented in analysis of the data. Inferential statistics in the form of logistic regression analysis was used to establish any significant factor that may predict referral for audiological assessment. The findings indicated that almost half (40%) of the cases were not referred for audiological services. Of those cases referred for assessment, 89% were referred as in-patients before hospital discharge, with minimal referrals occurring after discharge from hospital. Screening, rather than diagnostic audiology measures were conducted on a majority of the cases. Logistic regression analysis identified fever as the only predictor variable (
Project Case Study: Structural Analysis, Design and Laboratory Testing of a Complex Masonry Facade
This paper is a case study for the structural analysis, design and laboratory testing of the complex façade of Frank Gehry's Dr Chau Chak Wing Building, University of Technology, Sydney, Australia. It presents the design philosophy adopted for the overall brick support system and the final design solution. It also gives an overview of the analysis and design process, and laboratory testing used to arrive at the final solution
Semileptonic transition in nuclear medium
We study the semileptonic tree-level transition in
the framework of QCD sum rules in nuclear medium. In particular, we calculate
the in-medium form factors entering the transition matrix elements defining
this decay channel. It is found that the interactions of the participating
particles with the medium lead to a considerable suppression in the branching
ratio compared to the vacuum.Comment: 12 Pages, 3 Figures and 5 Table
