The Evolution of the Kinematics of Nebular Shells in Planetary Nebulae in the Milky Way Bulge

We study the line widths in the [\ion{O}{3}]$\lambda$5007 and H$\alpha$ lines for two groups of planetary nebulae in the Milky Way bulge based upon spectroscopy obtained at the Observatorio Astron\'omico Nacional in the Sierra San Pedro M\'artir (OAN-SPM) using the Manchester Echelle Spectrograph. The first sample includes objects early in their evolution, having high H$\beta$ luminosities, but [\ion{O}{3}]$\lambda 5007/\mathrm H\beta < 3$. The second sample comprises objects late in their evolution, with \ion{He}{2} $\lambda 4686/\mathrm H\beta > 0.5$. These planetary nebulae represent evolutionary phases preceeding and following those of the objects studied by Richer et al. (2008). Our sample of planetary nebulae with weak [\ion{O}{3}]$\lambda$5007 has a line width distribution similar to that of the expansion velocities of the envelopes of AGB stars, and shifted to systematically lower values as compared to the less evolved objects studied by Richer et al. (2008). The sample with strong \ion{He}{2} $\lambda 4686$ has a line width distribution indistinguishable from that of the more evolved objects from Richer et al. (2008), but a distribution in angular size that is systematically larger and so they are clearly more evolved. These data and those of Richer et al. (2008) form a homogeneous sample from a single Galactic population of planetary nebulae, from the earliest evolutionary stages until the cessation of nuclear burning in the central star. They confirm the long-standing predictions of hydrodynamical models of planetary nebulae, where the kinematics of the nebular shell are driven by the evolution of the central star.Comment: accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journa

Pre-anesthesia evaluation in patients with chronic renal disease (emphasis on cardiovascular risk)

Chronic renal disease is a public health problem worldwide. Several times these patients will undergo surgical procedures related to dialysis or surgeries related to their co-morbidities. The purpose of the pre-anesthesia evaluation is to assess the risk of cardiovascular events and initiate interventions that may influence morbidity and mortality. This article describes the relevant epidemiological data of chronic kidney disease and its cardiovascular risk and provides a guide on clinical assessment, diagnostic tools and strategies to reduce surgical risk. This narrative literature review is based on articles written in both English and Spanish limited to the last 10 years, information from basic textbooks and primary databases (i.e., PUBMED - EMBASE - LILACS), supported by articles referenced in the above-mentioned search.La enfermedad renal crónica es un problema de salud pública mundial. En varias ocasiones los pacientes son llevados a cirugías relacionadas con su diálisis con operaciones propias de sus comorbilidades. Estudio de la anisotropía de una fuente de Am-Be de 111 GBq

Se ha estudiado la anisotropía de una fuente de Am-Be de 111 GBq (3Ci) mediante el uso de un pequeño motor que permite girar paso a paso la fuente situada en su posición de irradiación habitual. Las medidas se han realizado con un contador proporcional de 3He alojado en el interior de una esfera moderadora de 8” correspondiente a un sistema de espectrometría de esferas Bonner. Se reportan los resultados obtenidos y el factor de anisotropía determinado para esta fuente

Medidas gubernamentales en España en la crisis del 2008, deficiencias y comparaciones con Alemania e Irlanda

A través de un análisis descriptivo fundamentado en estadística secundaria y mediante una revisión bibliográfica se busca poner en contexto las diferentes medidas que se pueden adoptar en época de crisis por parte de los gobiernos según dos corrientes de pensamiento económicas como son el liberalismo y la corriente keynesiana. Así, se hará mención al plan de actuación de la Unión Europea, Alemania e Irlanda, para finalmente analizar las medidas políticas pseudo keynesianas adoptadas por el gobierno español en la crisis del 2008, concluyendo con las deficiencias encontradas en estas y las comparaciones con los gobiernos en cuestión. Esto desembocará en diferencias claves, como fueron la rápida respuesta por parte del gobierno irlandés y la flexibilidad laboral alemana, así como la fortaleza del sector industrial alemán a la hora de hacer frente a las medidas establecidas.Through a descriptive analysis based on secondary statistics and through a bibliographic review, this paper seeks to contextualize the different measures that can be adopted by governments in times of crisis according to two schools of economic thought: liberalism and keynesianism. This will be discussed in connection with the action plans of the European Union, Germany and Ireland, leading to an analysis of the pseudo-Keynesian political measures carried out by the Spanish government in the 2008 crisis.The present study will conclude with an examination of the errors of said plan and will establish comparisons with the governments in question, which will show the striking differences such as the quick response from the Irish government, and the German labor flexibility, as well as the strength of the German industrial sector in dealing with the established measures
