An integrated model for cash transfer system design problem

    Get PDF
This paper presents an integrated model that incorporates strategic, tactical, and operational decisions for a cash transfer management system of a bank. The aim of the model is to decide on the location of cash management centers, number and routes of vehicles, and the cash inventory management policies to minimize the cost of owning and operating a cash transfer system while maintaining a pre-defined service level. Owing to the difficulty of finding optimal decisions in such integrated models, an iterative solution approach is proposed in which strategic, tactical, and operational problems are solved separately via a feedback mechanism. Numerical results show that such an approach is quite effective in reaching greatly improved solutions with just a few iterations, making it a promising approach for similar integrated models

Amplitude-equation formalism for four-wave-mixing geometry with transmission gratings

    Get PDF
An amplitude equation is derived for a four-wave-mixing geometry with nearly counterpropagating, mutually incoherent, nondiffracting pump beams, spatially overlapping in a photorefractive material with a nonlocal response. This equation extends the earlier linear two-dimensional theory to the weakly nonlinear regime. The analysis also starts from a more complete equation for the photorefractive effect, which leads to the prediction of novel effects especially apparent in the nonlinear regime. Precise predictions for the spatiotemporal behavior of the grating amplitude in the nonlinear regime are presented. The range of validity of the amplitude equation is studied. The characteristics of the instability in the nonlinear regime are analyzed through a front-selection analysis

Transition to an oscillator for double phase-conjugate mirror

    Get PDF
Summary form only given. Some of the novel quantified characteristics for double phase conjugate mirrors are analysed including the effects of the nonlinearity on the critical dynamics (approach to saturation) and on the spatial distribution of the grating (large scale distortion of the beams and conjugation fidelity) and sensitivity to noise (seeding). The approach used also clarifies the question of linear instability and predicts a new transition to an oscillatory regime

A rare cause of recurrent spontaneous pneumothorax: Birt-hogg-dube syndrome

    Get PDF
Birt-Hogg-Dube (BHD) syndrome is an unusual disorder characterized by the triad of cutaneous lesions, renal tumors and lung cysts. In cases with BHD syndrome, the frequency of recurrent pneumothorax is increased due to presence of multiple lung cysts. It is important to evaluate the BHD syndrome in differential diagnosis of recurrent pneumothorax especially with multiple lung cysts predominating in the lung base. In these patients, the presence of accompanying kidney and other tumors should be investigated. Herein, we report a case of BHD syndrome presenting with recurrent pneumothorax. © 2018 by Turkish Thoracic Society

    Vibrations of an Inhomogeneous Layer

    Get PDF
In this study, we have investigated vibrations of an inhomogeneous layer which is forced along its bottom. The shear modulus of the layer varies with depth. Considering the layer thickness is constant and the forcing displacement at the bottom is horizontal, shear vibrations will be studied. The solution of the governing equation has been carried out by using Bessel functions including unknown parameter q. Frequencies which make the amplitude of vibrations infinite are called natural frequencies of the layer. Variational of the natural frequencies and the shape of the shearing waves along the thickness of the layer have been investigated for some values of inhomogeneity parameters

Since the period that they started to emerge, cities are formed by the history that the civilizations take from the past, with the cultural values and the geography that they are in. The cities, which exist within this development process throughout civilizations, brought along the structures that are considered to be urban heritage and are occurred within the economic, social, societal and spatial feature and necessity. This process continues its existence with a lot of examples throughout the civilization history both in the world and in our country. There is an important variety between the historical structures that occur in our cities. Cities with the civil architecture examples and public buildings have a wide range of features that give them their identity constructions. One of the important structures that occur within this wide range is the training facilities, which started from the Ottoman Period and continued until the Republican Period and showed an increase. The education system, which started as madrassas and mosques in the Ottoman Period and later on turned into high schools and schools, and its structure are the important urban symbols in our cities. In this study, the protection and survival of the training facilities, which are historical and cultural inventories and reflect their periodical features and city identity, will be discussed. Within this scope, Antalya High School, which is one of the historical training facilities in Antalya, is taken as a sample. Antalya High School, concerning its history and statue, is city’s one of the important historical and social symbols. It is an important heritage that must be protected and maintained, since it reflects the cultural, social and architectural features of its history. Within the scope of the study, some examples of the historical training facilities, which have the similar statue in our country, are investigated to reach a general evaluation and within the sample area the study is detailed. The historical development of the investigated structure and its today’s position are investigated with environmental structures, and suggestions are made for protection – use – assessment. Analysis of the current situation is reinforced with the pedestrian counts and observational rapid assessment methods applied to structures and both quantitative and qualitative data could be reached for the study base. An evaluation was made for probable actions that aim the protection and survival of the urban and structural development within the historical process. When a further step is to be thought of this study, which is made with parcel scale, it should not be forgotten that this study will serve as an intermediate product for future evaluation and conversion studies on urban scale with the context of Urban Planning

Measurement of the Permanent Electric Dipole Moment of the 129^{129}Xe Atom

We report on a new measurement of the CP-violating permanent Electric Dipole Moment (EDM) of the neutral 129^{129}Xe atom. Our experimental approach is based on the detection of the free precession of co-located nuclear spin-polarized 3^3He and 129^{129}Xe samples. The EDM measurement sensitivity benefits strongly from long spin coherence times of several hours achieved in diluted gases and homogeneous weak magnetic fields of about 400~nT. A finite EDM is indicated by a change in the precession frequency, as an electric field is periodically reversed with respect to the magnetic guiding field. Our result, (4.7±6.4)1028\left(-4.7\pm6.4\right)\cdot 10^{-28} ecm, is consistent with zero and is used to place a new upper limit on the 129^{129}Xe EDM: dXe<1.51027|d_\text{Xe}|<1.5 \cdot 10^{-27} ecm (95% C.L.). We also discuss the implications of this result for various CP-violating observables as they relate to theories of physics beyond the standard model

This study examined the serial multiple mediator roles of the fear of negative evaluation and academic perfectionism on the relation between cognitive flexibility and mental well-being in a sample of Turkish university students. A total of 320 students [162 (50.6%) female and 158 (49.4%) male, M age = 20.37; SD = 2.05] in two separate public universities were involved in this study. The Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale, the Cognitive Flexibility Inventory, the Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale, and the Academic Perfectionism Scale were used to obtain the data. We investigated the serial multiple mediations roles by using bootstrapping based PROCESS macro (Model 6). The results revealed that significant relationships between the variables. Moreover, the findings indicated that fear of negative evaluation and academic perfectionism subsequently and partially mediated the relation between cognitive flexibility and mental well-being.
