Ethical Marketing AI?A Structured Literature Review of the Ethical Challenges Posed by Artificial Intelligence in the Domains of Marketing and Consumer Behavior
With the increasing use of AI in marketing, ethical repercussions are beginning to emerge. From privacy issues, through discrimination of marginalized groups, to emergent systemic social distortions, AI is changing the marketing ethical landscape. In this paper we conduct a structured literature review of the emerging ethical issues posed by AI in the domains of marketing and consumer behavior. We identify three clusters of ethical issues (algorithm, society and existential) and map these to the marketing domains of systems, brands, and consumers. We conclude that the field of ethical marketing AI is still very much in its infancy, but such is the rate of development ethical marketing AI is likely to become important field for academics and practitioners alike
Factors Affecting Air Traffic Controllerâs Weather Dissemination to Pilots
As the number of flights in the United States continues to rise steadily, an equally amplified need for reliability and safety has come to the forefront of aviation research. One of the most alarming trends is the number of general aviation (GA) accidents during severe weather events that occur yearly, with fatalities occurring in more than half of these cases. This study focuses on identifying factors influencing weather dissemination of Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) to GA pilots. Ten factors affecting controllersâ performance during severe weather events were identified through an in-depth literature review including controller mental workload, situation awareness, weather information format and accuracy, weather information needs, weather tool limitations, inaccurate assumption and bias, controller training and expereince, regulatory factor, supervisory factors, and pilot-controller relationship. Recommendation can be developed to address each factors so that aviation safety could be enhanced in severe weather situations
Relationship Between Binge Drinking, Food Restriction, and Mental Health in College Students
Binge drinking is a prevalent problem among college students and it is impacting many aspects of lives. This study focuses on the detriments of binge drinking on college studentsâ nutrition and mental health. An anonymous online survey was administered through Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Discord. The survey included basic demographic questions and questions on frequency of drinking, eating habits while drinking, typical daily food consumption, and mental-well being. Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used to analyze data in SPSS version 25.0. There is an association between binge drinking, food choices, and mental health among college students. Because of the effects of binge drinking, it is important to be conscious of drinking habits to protect physical and mental health.https://orb.binghamton.edu/research_days_posters_2023/1063/thumbnail.jp
Resolving spin, valley, and moir\'e quasi-angular momentum of interlayer excitons in WSe2/WS2 heterostructures
Moir\'e superlattices provide a powerful way to engineer properties of
electrons and excitons in two-dimensional van der Waals heterostructures. The
moir\'e effect can be especially strong for interlayer excitons, where
electrons and holes reside in different layers and can be addressed separately.
In particular, it was recently proposed that the moir\'e superlattice potential
not only localizes interlayer exciton states at different superlattice
positions, but also hosts an emerging moir\'e quasi-angular momentum (QAM) that
periodically switches the optical selection rules for interlayer excitons at
different moir\'e sites. Here we report the observation of multiple interlayer
exciton states coexisting in a WSe2/WS2 moir\'e superlattice and unambiguously
determine their spin, valley, and moir\'e QAM through novel resonant optical
pump-probe spectroscopy and photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy. We
demonstrate that interlayer excitons localized at different moir\'e sites can
exhibit opposite optical selection rules due to the spatially-varying moir\'e
QAM. Our observation reveals new opportunities to engineer interlayer exciton
states and valley physics with moir\'e superlattices for optoelectronic and
valleytronic applications
Unconventional superconductivity in the nickel-chalcogenide superconductor, TlNiSe
We present the results of a study of the vortex lattice (VL) of the nickel
chalcogenide superconductor TlNi2Se2, using small angle neutron scattering.
This superconductor has the same crystal symmetry as the iron arsenide
materials. Previous work points to it being a two-gap superconductor, with an
unknown pairing mechanism. No structural transitions in the vortex lattice are
seen in the phase diagram, arguing against d-wave gap symmetry. Empirical fits
of the temperature-dependence of the form factor and penetration depth rule out
a simple s-wave model, supporting the presence of nodes in the gap function.
The variation of the VL opening angle with field is consistent with earlier
reports of of multiple gaps
