The purpose of this study is to investigate the interaction between people’s fundamental Christian beliefs and scientific explanations. When people with fundamental Christian beliefs encounter scientific explanations, such explanations may interact with their deeply rooted beliefs in a way that is likely to produce tensions. It is expedient to understand the classroom/professional experiences of such individuals and how they manage these tensions. I will apply Jegede’s collateral learning theory as a lens to look at how individuals manage the tensions between their religious and scientific worldviews. Gaining insight into people’s experiences in the classroom/work place and how they manage these tensions will potentially inform classroom instruction and ways by which we can help students with fundamental Christian beliefs maintain their pursuit of science related careers by easing the nature of the borders they cross. Sources of data will include participant reported perspectives of how they manage the tensions and observations of real-time resolution of potentially conflicting explanations from their religious and scientific worldviews
Study of the effect of Kaolin in the mortar of cement matrices by confinement of ion exchange resins
CARACTÉRISTIQUES MORPHOLOGIQUES ET GÉOCHIMIQUES DES MANTEAUX D’ALTÉRATION DÉVELOPPÉS SUR GRANITOÏDES DANS LA RÉGION DE L’ADAMAOUA (CAMEROUN)
Seven samples of rocks, including three parent rock and four weathered rock from Wack (Vina division, Adamawa Region, Cameroon) have been studied. According to chemical analysis and chemical weathering indices calculated, weathering rocks conserve the structure of parent rocks. During weathering and the influence of the steep slope, the chemical elements are completely disorganized. The quantitative determination of the degree of chemical weathering of these rocks based on whole rock chemistry was performed. The slope of the straight regression absolute value is closed to 1. These various chemical weathering indices calculated has shown that they are significantly related
Chemical and mineralogical characterization and ceramic suitability of raw feldspathic materials from Dschang (Cameroon)
The chemical and mineralogical characterization of raw feldspathic materials from Dschang (Cameroon) was realized by means of X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analyses, optical and scanning electron microscopies, and analytical techniques. It was found that these materials consist of albite (43 ± 3 wt.%), microcline (41 and 26 wt.%), quartz (14.5 ± 1.5 wt.%), plagioclase (oligoclase type) (6 and 12 wt.%) and a minor content of biotite. The amount of fluxing oxides is about 12 wt.% and those of pigments are quasi-null. The ceramic suitability of these materials was assessed in the light of the obtained chemical data and physical characteristics (fusibility, viscosity, colour). The results showed that these raw materials are convenient, as fluxing compounds, for manufacturing white ceramic.KEY WORDS: Raw feldspathic materials, Mineralogy, Chemical composition, Ceramic suitability, Cameroon   Bull. Applied Materials dimension factory simulation
Applied Materials launched a CMP Manufacturing Line Process in 2020. Due to the complex nature of the process and the investment need, the company must be careful when they want to implement changes in their system. Discrete Event Simulation Models offer the possibility to test hypotheses in a virtual environment before implementing them in real life. In this document, we created a discrete-event simulation to model the CMP manufacturing line using the modeling tool FlexSim. During the model building process, the most crucial aspect was implementing the process times for printing and metrology tasks, the personnel’s timetable, and the logic handling printing and metrology tasks. We used the model to evaluate the utilization rates of the equipment at the baseline level and when we double the capacity. In addition, we observe the system's behavior for different throughput targets under different shift systems. We concluded that different shift systems lead to increased production; however, this must be balanced with the increased system stay time. Finally, we observed the effect of increasing the number of printers in use for different production levels.Operations Research and Industrial Engineerin
