It appears from the literature that T. carolinus has the most dominant market position since it has an excellent flavor and sports fishermen prefer it due to its fighting ability when hooked on light tackle.     Glomerular platelet-activating factor levels and origin in experimental glomerulonephritis. The content of platelet activating factor (PAF) in glomeruli isolated from rats with nephrotoxic serum glomerulonephritis (NSGN) was quantified at various stages of the disease and the role of complement, platelets and neutrophils in mediating changes in glomerular PAF levels was evaluated. PAF content was assessed following extraction, isolation and quantification of this alkyl ether lipid using a bioassay based on [3H]-serotonin release from labelled rabbit platelets. Following induction of NSGN using proteinuric doses of rabbit immune serum raised against rat glomerular basement membrane, enhanced glomerular PAF levels were observed at 3 hours, 24 hours and on day 15 following induction of the disease. In complement depleted rats and at three hours following induction of NSGN, glomerular PAF levels were significantly lower than in complement replete controls studied in parallel. At the same time point of the disease, platelet depleted rats with NSGN demonstrated significantly lower glomerular PAF levels than parallel controls, whereas in neutrophil depleted rats glomerular PAF levels were no different than controls. These observations indicate that in infiltrative and complement dependent forms of glomerular immune injury, glomerular PAF levels are increased via a complement mediated mechanism. Infiltrating platelets, but not neutrophils, partially account for the enhanced glomerular PAF levels. The observations are of potential importance in the pathophysiology of glomerulonephritis

    A multiscale method with patch for the solution of stochastic partial differential equations with localized uncertainties

    International audienceWe here propose a multiscale numerical method for the solution of stochastic partial di erential equations with localized uncertainties. It is based on a multiscale domain decomposition method that exploits the localized side of uncertainties and incidentally improves the conditioning of the problem by operating a separation of scales. An efficient iterative algorithm is proposed that requires the solution of a sequence of simple global problems at a macro scale, involving a deterministic operator, and local problems at a micro scale for which we have the possibility to use ne approximation spaces. Global and local problems are solved using tensor approximation methods allowing the representation of high dimensional stochastic parametric solutions. Convergence properties of these tensor based methods, which are closely related to spectral decompositions, benefit from the separation of scales. Different types of uncertainties are considered at the micro level. They may be associated with some variability in the operator or source terms, or even with some geometrical variability. In the latter case, specific reformulations of local problems using fictitious domain methods are introduced

    Evaluación de costos en pacientes con artritis reumatoide de dos hospitales de alta complejidad : Lambayeque 2013 - 2016

    Objetivo: Evaluar el costo en pacientes con artritis reumatoide (AR) de dos hospitales de alta complejidad de Lambayeque: 2013-2016 Diseño: Descriptivo-Transversal. Materiales y Métodos: por muestreo aleatorio simple se escogieron 183 y 129 historias clínicas de un hospital de la Seguridad Social (Hospital I) y de otro del Ministerio de Salud (Hospital II). Se extrajeron datos sociodemográficos, de atenciones y costos directos. Los costos indirectos (CIP) se calcularon aplicando el cuestionario sobre impedimento de actividades y productividad laboral. Resultados: La mediana de edad fue 53 años, RI: 43-62; 94,4% fueron mujeres; el costo directo total en el Hospital I fue S/ 5’ 659 050 (1689268,66)yS/2192490( 1 689 268, 66) y S/ 2’ 192 490 ( 654 474,63) en el Hospital II. En el hospital I, el 51,5% del costo directo fue por exámenes auxiliares y en el Hospital II, el uso de biológicos explicó el 45,20%. El CIP del Hospital I fue: S/ 7’ 062 576 (2108231,64)yde1226067( 2 108 231,64) y de 1’ 226 067 ( 365 990, 15) en el Hospital II. El costo total de la AR en el Hospital I fue: S/ 12’ 721 626 (3797500,3)yS/3418557( 3 797 500,3) y S/3’ 418 557 ( 1 020 464,78) en el Hospital II. El costo promedio paciente en el primero fue S/ 8 207,5 (2450)yS/11171,75( 2 450) y S/ 11 171,75 ( 3 334, 85) en el segundo. Conclusiones: El costo en pacientes con AR es elevado en Lambayeque. En el Ministerio de Salud, el costo de la AR por paciente, fue 1,3 veces superior al de la Seguridad Social, siendo en el primero principalmente debido a exámenes auxiliares y en el segundo por el uso de biológicos

    Many people are now aware of drones or remotely piloted aircraft (RPAs), and several others have predicted the significant impacts that drones will bring across society. Today, there is an expectation that drones will play a pivotal role in industries such as surveillance, security, surveying, construction, and freight transport. However, in all these cases, whenever a drone is flying over a populated area, it poses a danger to people or things on the ground. Perhaps the sector where the greatest risk of injury to the everyday person exists is the drone delivery industry. The drone freight industry is proliferating fast, with many companies like Skycart and Amazon investing in this sector. These companies plan to transport groceries, medical supplies, food, and par- cels, among many other things. If fleets of delivery drones are deployed around suburbs, the descent to lower altitudes and the general logistics of an airborne delivery presents a novel risk of harm. A drone failure resulting in a crash could lead to property damage, destruction of natural environments, and injury or death to persons, especially in areas of high population density. One promising way to prevent such harm is to use structural condition monitoring technology to preempt any deterioration of the airworthiness of a drone. In the absence of any existing precedent or authority on this, this Article investigates the legal implications of using such technology to guide future regulations and areas of research

    The Effects of 5G Implementation on the Aspects of Sustainability In The Air Transportation Industry

    The concern of 5G C-band frequency interference with global aviation operations was founded on the criticality of a single-point failure with the radio altimeter operations. The research in this report intends to highlight the severe impact of 5G C-band implementation on the air transportation industry. It focuses on one airport in the United States, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), one of the busiest airports in the country, flying both domestically and internationally. The results show that Boeing aircraft are affected more than Airbus for 5G interference. Further, the findings show that the United States should align its 5G implementation with other countries, such as Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom
