    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to understand mineral diagenesis authigenic mineral and the effect of climate on mineral of Pleistocene-Holocene sediment deposits in the Southern Kenya Rift. Lake Magadi unique geologic settings are characterized by extreme alkalinity and high silica activities. The mineralogical analysis was achieved by X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) applications. The bulk mineralogy (quartz, halite, calcite) is the same on all localities due to similar volcaniclastics compositions throughout the Kenya Rift Valley. The clay mineralogy significantly differ among the groups of sample localities. The differences reflect different tectonic settings and ambient climate regime. In humid climate at higher elevation detrital clay minerals are abundant (feldspars, phillipsite). At lower elevation like Lake Magadi, the clay fractions dominated by authigenic minerals (zeolites and silicate minerals found with zeolites). These results show the potential of clay minerals as terrestrial climate proxies

Expansion of expenditure obligations of the Russian Federation constituents and municipalities, which results in growing pressure on expenditure of territorial budgets, with preservation of current practice of revenue distribution between budgets of Russian budgeting system and reduction of cheap budget credits granted to regions - the situation when debt finance of budget expenditure and, accordingly, the increasing debt burden on regional budgets, are of current concern. This article analyses debt burden of Russian regions taken in conjunction with its prime budget and economic indices. On the basis of analysis we draw certain conclusions on factors that determine the level of debt burden and tendencies in regional debt behaviour, raise problems which, if solved successfully, will provide for improvement of debt situation in constituents of the Russian Federation. Tunable organic solid state laser

    Get PDF
The creation of spectrally narrow tunable wavelength over a wide range, having a small loss in laser generation power is an actual problem in modern laser physics. Lasing characteristics (FWHM) of solid state active media based on Chromen 3 (Ch-3) in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) are investigated. Patterns of changing the lasing characteristics depending on resonator’s geometric parameters. It is demonstrated that the wavelength of solid state active media in specific resonator's geometric parameters can be narrowed to the lowest value possible. Such laser properties are known for wide application in laser spectroscopy

Investigations aimed on the detection of harmful substances for human life are very exist. Nitrocompounds are included among many. Among numerous chemical compounds contaminating the environment, a prominent place is occupied by nitroaromatic compounds, many of which enter the composition of explosive materials. They are contained in industrial waste and are toxic for living organisms. Of the wide variety of methods for detecting chemicals, method based on the quenching of fluorescence of organic compounds is a simple and fairly sensitive

    Get PDF
Solid-state active laser media using PMMA matrices doped by Chromene-3 and PM-567 were created. Their lasing and spectral properties are investigated. Fluorescence bandwidth is wide enough for tunability (near 40 nm full-width on the half maximum - FWHM). The photostability is number of the pulses in one dot needed to decrease efficiency twice – near of 3*105 pulses are obtained. The obtained data lead to the development of the tunable solid-state laser on the basis of the investigated LAE demanded in medicine

Translucency and Color Stability of a Simplified Shade Nanohybrid Composite after Ultrasonic Scaling and Air-Powder Polishing

    Get PDF
We aimed to assess the influence of professional dental prophylaxis on the translucency and color stability of a novel simplified shade nanohybrid composite material. Sixty composite disks (5 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick) of light (n = 30) and dark (n = 30) shades were prepared. The specimens were randomly divided into the following three groups (n = 10) according to the prophylaxis procedure used: ultrasonic scaling, air-powder polishing with sodium bicarbonate, and controls. The specimens were submitted to translucency and color analysis based on the CIELab system. Two measurements were performed before and after 48-h storage in coffee. Translucency values of untreated light and dark specimens were 9.15 ± 0.38 and 5.28 ± 1.10, respectively. Airpowder polishing decreased the translucency of the light composite specimens. Storage in coffee resulted in color changes (∆E) ranging between 2.69 and 12.05 and a mean translucency decrease ranging between −0.88 and −6.91. The samples in the light group tended to exhibit greater staining; the treatment method had no effect on ∆E. It can be concluded that light-shade composite restorations are more prone to translucency and color changes resulting from air-powder polishing and contact with staining media. However, further research using other composites and powders is required
