Le volcan Mojanda (Equateur) : deux appareils contemporains aux dynamismes éruptifs, développements et caractères géochimiques différents

Deux centres volcaniques majeurs (Mojanda et Fuya Fuya) constituent ce qui était considéré comme le volcan Mojanda. Après la construction de volcans de base essentiellement laviques, les développements et dynamismes éruptifs de ces deux appareils contemporains diffèrent. Au Mojanda, un nouveau cône est formé par des coulées et des tephra basiques. Au Fuya-Fuya, l'activité est constamment en relation avec un magmatisme acide : deux cycles commençant chacun par une éruption plinienne cataclysmale rhyolitique et se poursuivant par une activité des dômes y sont remarquables. Ils sont suivis par un gigantesque évènement de type St Helens, dont la caldera d'avalanche est ensuite occupée par un dernier complexe de dômes, encore actif à l'Holocène. Propagation en contexte arrière-arc : premiers résultats de la campagne ProFeTi (Bassin Nord-Fidjien, Pacifique SW)

Au centre du bassin Nord-Fidjien, le segment d'accrétion NS, qui se propage vers le Nord aux dépens du segment N15 depuis au moins 1 Ma, a été échantillonné pendant la campagne ProFeTi du NO Alis. Malgré sa position arrière-arc, aucune contamination géochimique caractéristique d'une subduction n'est perceptible. L'échantillonnage étudié montre que les réservoirs magmatiques de ce segment en propagation évoluent dans une perpétuelle dynamique de recherche d'équilibre thermique et chimique, perturbée par les actions conjuguées suivantes : l'éloignement de la pointe du propagateur par rapport aux zones de réalimentations focalisées sous le centre du segment, des réalimentations successives par des liquides primitifs évoluant avec l'état de maturité du propagateur, et un effet de paroi froide provenant du segment N15, dans lequel la lithosphère de la pointe du segment NS se propage. True2Form: 3D Curve Networks from 2D Sketches via Selective Regularization

International audienceTrue2Form is a sketch-based modeling system that reconstructs 3D curves from typical design sketches. Our approach to infer 3D form from 2D drawings is a novel mathematical framework of insights derived from perception and design literature. We note that designers favor viewpoints that maximally reveal 3D shape information, and strategically sketch descriptive curves that convey intrinsic shape properties, such as curvature, symmetry, or parallelism. Studies indicate that viewers apply these properties selectively to envision a globally consistent 3D shape. We mimic this selective regularization algorithmically, by progressively detecting and enforcing applicable properties, accounting for their global impact on an evolving 3D curve network. Balancing regularity enforcement against sketch fidelity at each step allows us to correct for inaccuracy inherent in free-hand sketching. We perceptually validate our approach by showing agreement between our algorithm and viewers in selecting applicable regularities. We further evaluate our solution by: reconstructing a range of 3D models from diversely sourced sketches; comparisons to prior art; and visual comparison to both ground-truth and 3D reconstructions by designers

Overview of the PAN/CLEF 2015 Evaluation Lab

During the last decade, PAN has been established as the main forum of text mining research focusing on the identification of personal traits of authors left behind in texts unintentionally. PAN 2015 comprises three tasks: plagiarism detection, author identification and author profiling studying important variations of these problems. In plagiarism detection, community-driven corpus construction is introduced as a new way of developing evaluation resources with diversity. In author identification, cross-topic and cross-genre author verification (where the texts of known and unknown authorship do not match in topic and/or genre) is introduced. A new corpus was built for this challenging, yet realistic, task covering four languages. In author profiling, in addition to usual author demographics, such as gender and age, five personality traits are introduced (openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism) and a new corpus of Twitter messages covering four languages was developed.
