    The activity of lipase in fermented Africa locust bean, Castor seed, and Africa oil bean was determined. The peak lipase activity for fermented Africa locust bean, Castor seed, and African oil bean were 13.3x10-3μmol/sec, 7.2 x10-3μmol/sec and 10.6 x10-3μmol/sec at day 5, 4 and 4 respectively. The optimum temperature and pH were 300C and 7.0 respectively for all the fermented seeds above. Increasing NaCl concentration decreases the activity of Lipase indicating that NaCl is an inhibitor of lipase. The effect of substrate concentration on lipase activity in the fermenting oil seeds shows the normal Michaelis-Menten curve. The Km for African locust bean is 0.065664mM, Castor seed is 0.067625mM, and African oil bean is 0.075848mM. While the Vmax are: 15.229x10-3 μmol/sec, 14.787x10-3μmol/sec and 13.184x10-3μmol/sec respectively. The findings of this work indicates that fermented African locust bean, Castor seed and Africa oil bean could be a source of lipase for industrial application.     Part of Speech Tagging of spoken Dutch using neural networks

    This paper reports on the experimental research on the use of neural networks for Part of Speech Tagging of spoken Dutch. The findings of this paper show that a neural network can very well be used for tagging. The best constructed network in this paper reaches an overall performance of 97.3 % recognition of the CGN corpus, a 10 million word corpus of spoken Dutch. Also the recognition of small corpora gives good performances. One minor disadvantage of neural networks is the fact that the best shape of a network partially depends on size of the corpus

    Comparism of xanthine oxidase activities in cow and goat milks

    The activities of xanthine oxidase were studied in cow and goat milks. The optimum temperature and pH values were 10 °C and 7.5; and 20 °C and 7.2 - 7.4 for cow and goat milk samples respectively. The substrate effect on xanthine oxidase from both milk samples followed the popular Michealis Menten's (Km) equation. The Km and V max were 0.86 x 10-2 M and 3.7 Msec-1 and 4.36 x 10-2 M and 2.0 Msec-1. The work concludes that xanthine oxidase from cow and goat milk differs both in their basic characteristics and in the kinetic activities
