The objectives of the research were to investigate the behavior of dairy farmers and factorsaffecting the effort to enhance the economic of scale. Survey was conducted on 75 dairy farmers atGetasan District, Semarang Regency. Samples were drawn in random from villages of Jetak, Batur andTajur, 25 farmers each. The data were analyzed by logit model regression, using 15 indicators ofbehavioural approach and socio-economic factors as predictors (independent variables) i.e. ages, formaleducation, family size, experience in cattle rearing, number of cattle raised, production of milk and landoccupation. The result showed that 40.04% of the farmers were good, 33.07% were moderate and20.89% were low risk takers. The farmers' behaviour in enhancing economic of scale significantlyinfluenced by the farmers' age, milk production and number of cattle reared. The odds ratio of ages, milk production and number of cattle reared were 0.93; 1.32 and 1.37, respectively. These valuesindicated that as values of ages increased as much as 1 year, the values of the willingness on risk takingwill decrease as much as 0.93 times; the values of milk production increase as much as 1 litre, the valuesof the willingness on risk taking will increase as much as 1.32 times; and the values of the number ofcattle increased as much as 1 AU, the values of the willingness on risk taking will increase as much as1.37 times

Illumination about hand washing using soap is one of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) and has been the world concern, it has because the problem of the lack of hand washing behavior practice occurs in not only developing countries but also developed ones most people still forget FOR perform Hand Washing Behavior. The correct hand washing reduces the incidence of disease. To describe the behavior of elementary school students about Behavior Clean and Healthy with counseling Handwashing in Foundation Tut Wuri Handayani at Medan Mabar. This research is descriptive-analitic cross sectional. The object of research was the IV graders as much as 33 people and school guard, teacher and principal. Results of univariate analysis are better knowledge, attitudes and actions strongly agree sometimes. Then concluded that there is a picture of the extension services PHBS wash hands on knowledge, attitudes, and actions of the students wash their hands, guards, teachers and principals. It is recommended to provide education on an ongoing basis through UKS program of the school

Collective states of interacting Fibonacci anyons

    Get PDF
We show that chains of interacting Fibonacci anyons can support a wide variety of collective ground states ranging from extended critical, gapless phases to gapped phases with ground-state degeneracy and quasiparticle excitations. In particular, we generalize the Majumdar-Ghosh Hamiltonian to anyonic degrees of freedom by extending recently studied pairwise anyonic interactions to three-anyon exchanges. The energetic competition between two- and three-anyon interactions leads to a rich phase diagram that harbors multiple critical and gapped phases. For the critical phases and their higher symmetry endpoints we numerically establish descriptions in terms of two-dimensional conformal field theories. A topological symmetry protects the critical phases and determines the nature of gapped phases.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure

webPRC: the Profile Comparer for alignment-based searching of public domain databases

    Get PDF
Profileā€“profile methods are well suited to detect remote evolutionary relationships between protein families. Profile Comparer (PRC) is an existing stand-alone program for scoring and aligning hidden Markov models (HMMs), which are based on multiple sequence alignments. Since PRC compares profile HMMs instead of sequences, it can be used to find distant homologues. For this purpose, PRC is used by, for example, the CATH and Pfam-domain databases. As PRC is a profile comparer, it only reports profile HMM alignments and does not produce multiple sequence alignments. We have developed webPRC server, which makes it straightforward to search for distant homologues or similar alignments in a number of domain databases. In addition, it provides the results both as multiple sequence alignments and aligned HMMs. Furthermore, the user can view the domain annotation, evaluate the PRC hits with the Jalview multiple alignment editor and generate logos from the aligned HMMs or the aligned multiple alignments. Thus, this server assists in detecting distant homologues with PRC as well as in evaluating and using the results. The webPRC interface is available at http://www.ibi.vu.nl/programs/prcwww/

Auxiliary field approach to dilute Bose gases with tunable interactions

We rewrite the Lagrangian for a dilute Bose gas in terms of auxiliary fields related to the normal and anomalous condensate densities. We derive the loop expansion of the effective action in the composite-field propagators. The lowest-order auxiliary field (LOAF) theory is a conserving mean-field approximation consistent with the Goldstone theorem without some of the difficulties plaguing approximations such as the Hartree and Popov approximations. LOAF predicts a second-order phase transition. We give a set of Feynman rules for improving results to any order in the loop expansion in terms of composite-field propagators. We compare results of the LOAF approximation with those derived using the Popov approximation. LOAF allows us to explore the critical regime for all values of the coupling constant and we determine various parameters in the unitarity limit.Comment: 16 pages, 7 figure

Sympathetic cooling of an atomic Bose-Fermi gas mixture

    Get PDF
Sympathetic cooling of an atomic Fermi gas by a Bose gas is studied by solution of the coupled quantum Boltzmann equations for the confined gas mixture. Results for equilibrium temperatures and relaxation dynamics are presented, and some simple models developed. Our study illustrate that a combination of sympathetic and forced evaporative cooling enables the Fermi gas to be cooled to the degenerate regime where quantum statistics, and mean field effects are important. The influence of mean field effects on the equilibrium spatial distributions is discussed qualitatively.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figures, accepted for publication in Phys.Rev.Let
