Data on the reaction with ,
taken with unpolarized or polarized beams in combination with an unpolarized or
polarized proton-target, were analyzed within the Bonn-Gatchina (BnGa) partial
wave analysis. Differential cross sections, several spin density matrix
elements, the beam asymmetry , the normalized helicity difference ,
and the correlation between linear photon and longitudinal target
polarization were included in a large data base on pion and photo-induced
reactions. The data on photoproduction are used to determine twelve
branching ratios; most of these are determined for the first

Inocybe woglindeana, a new species of the genus Inocybe, thriving in exposed habitats with calcareous sandy soil
Abstract: We describe a smooth-spored species of Inocybe, the basidiomes of which have been encountered growing with Salix in exposed habitats, often with calcareous sandy soils in Germany and Fennoscandia. The species is presented with a detailed description, photographs and microdrawings. Its relationship to similar taxa growing in the same environments is illustrated with ITS and LSU data. Morphologically the species would be keyed out as a member of I. sect. Tardae. For comparison, the types of somewhat similar species occurring in similar habitats as I. woglindeana, i.e. I. subpelargonium, I. rufuloides, I. inodora, I. neorufula and I. variispora, were examined morphologically; from the latter ITS and mtSSU V6 data were obtained. Molecular data supported a very close relationship between I. woglindeana and I. variispora. The two species are also morphologically similar, but differ in colour of pileus, in shape and details of hymenial cystidia, and also in their host and habitat. None of the other species, represented by our own collections or sequences from the public domain, are phylogenetically closely related to I. woglindeana.</p

Model-independent extraction of matrix elements from top-quark measurements at hadron colliders
Current methods to extract the quark-mixing matrix element from
single-top production measurements assume that : top quarks decay into quarks with 100% branching fraction,
s-channel single-top production is always accompanied by a quark and
initial-state contributions from and quarks in the -channel
production of single top quarks are neglected. Triggered by a recent
measurement of the ratio
performed by the D0 collaboration, we consider a extraction method
that takes into account non zero d- and s-quark contributions both in
production and decay. We propose a strategy that allows to extract consistently
and in a model-independent way the quark mixing matrix elements ,
, and from the measurement of and from single-top
measured event yields. As an illustration, we apply our method to the Tevatron
data using a CDF analysis of the measured single-top event yield with two jets
in the final state one of which is identified as a -quark jet. We constrain
the matrix elements within a four-generation scenario by combining
the results with those obtained from direct measurements in flavor physics and
determine the preferred range for the top-quark decay width within different

The {\eta}'-carbon potential at low meson momenta
The production of mesons in coincidence with forward-going
protons has been studied in photon-induced reactions on C and on a
liquid hydrogen (LH) target for incoming photon energies of 1.3-2.6 GeV at
the electron accelerator ELSA. The mesons have been identified
via the decay
registered with the CBELSA/TAPS detector system. Coincident protons have been
identified in the MiniTAPS BaF array at polar angles of . Under these kinematic constraints the
mesons are produced with relatively low kinetic energy (
150 MeV) since the coincident protons take over most of the momentum of the
incident-photon beam. For the C-target this allows the determination of the
real part of the -carbon potential at low meson momenta by
comparing with collision model calculations of the kinetic energy
distribution and excitation function. Fitting the latter data for
mesons going backwards in the center-of-mass system yields a potential depth of
V = (44 16(stat)15(syst)) MeV, consistent with earlier
determinations of the potential depth in inclusive measurements for average
momenta of 1.1 GeV/. Within the experimental
uncertainties, there is no indication of a momentum dependence of the
-carbon potential. The LH data, taken as a reference to check
the data analysis and the model calculations, provide differential and integral
cross sections in good agreement with previous results for

Measures and time points relevant for post-surgical follow-up in patients with inflammatory arthritis: a pilot study
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Rheumatic diseases commonly affect joints and other structures in the hand. Surgery is a traditional way to treat hand problems in inflammatory rheumatic diseases with the purposes of pain relief, restore function and prevent progression. There are numerous measures to choose from, and a combination of outcome measures is recommended. This study evaluated if instruments commonly used in rheumatologic clinical practice are suitable to measure outcome of hand surgery and to identify time points relevant for follow-up.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Thirty-one patients (median age 56 years, median disease duration 15 years) with inflammatory rheumatic disease and need for post-surgical occupational therapy intervention formed this pilot study group.</p> <p>Hand function was assessed regarding grip strength (Grippit), pain (VAS), range of motion (ROM) (Signals of Functional Impairment (SOFI)) and grip ability (Grip Ability Test (GAT)). Activities of daily life (ADL) were assessed by means of Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand Outcome (DASH) and Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). The instruments were evaluated by responsiveness and feasibility; follow-up points were 0, 3, 6 and 12 months.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>All instruments showed significant change at one or more follow-up points. Satisfaction with activities (COPM) showed the best responsiveness (SMR>0.8), while ROM measured with SOFI had low responsiveness at most follow-up time points. The responsiveness of the instruments was stable between 6 and 12 month follow-up which imply that 6 month is an appropriate time for evaluating short-term effect of hand surgery in rheumatic diseases.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>We suggest a core set of instruments measuring pain, grip strength, grip ability, perceived symptoms and self-defined daily activities. This study has shown that VAS pain, the Grippit instrument, GAT, DASH symptom scale and COPM are suitable outcome instruments for hand surgery, while SOFI may be a more insensitive test. However, the feasibility of this protocol in clinical practice awaits prospective studies.</p
Phylogenetic Findings Suggest Possible New Habitat and Routes of Infection of Human Eumyctoma
Eumycetoma is a traumatic fungal infection in tropical and subtropical areas that may lead to severe disability. Madurella mycetomatis is one of the prevalent etiologic agents in arid Northeastern Africa. The source of infection has not been clarified. Subcutaneous inoculation from plant thorns has been hypothesized, but attempts to detect the fungus in relevant material have remained unsuccessful. The present study aims to find clues to reveal the natural habitat of Madurella species using a phylogenetic approach, i.e. by comparison of neighboring taxa with known ecology. Four species of Madurella were included in a large data set of species of Chaetomium, Chaetomidium, Thielavia, and Papulaspora (n = 128) using sequences of the universal fungal barcode gene rDNA ITS and the partial LSU gene sequence. Our study demonstrates that Madurella species are nested within the Chaetomiaceae, a family of fungi that mainly inhabit animal dung, enriched soil, and indoor environments. We hypothesize that cattle dung, ubiquitously present in rural East Africa, plays a significant role in the ecology of Madurella. If cow dung is an essential factor in inoculation by Madurella, preventative measures may involve the use of appropriate footwear in addition to restructuring of villages to reduce the frequency of contact with etiologic agents of mycetoma. On the other hand, the Chaetomiaceae possess a hidden clinical potential which needs to be explored
