    Digitalizador 3D para imagens antropométricas do pé

    Este artigo apresenta um sistema de hardware e software para extrair medidas de pés da população brasileira. Sabe-se que os pés são diferentes, dependendo de diversos fatores como sexo, idade, raça, etc. Atualmente, pouco se tem levado em consideração estas diferenças no processo de construção do calçado brasileiro. A idéia é, colher uma imagem plantar do pé através de um scanner e ao mesmo tempo cinco imagens laterais através de uma câmera giratória. A partir destas imagens obter medidas de interesse e usando da técnica de triangularização gerar um modelo do pé em 3D, que possibilitará a confecção de formas de calçados na exata medida do pé.In this paper hardware and software systems is present to acquisition to feet anthropometrics measurements of Brazilians people.     Current role of transcatheter arterial embolization for bladder and prostate hemorrhage

    AbstractIntractable hematuria from the bladder or the prostate can be life-threatening and its management remains a difficult clinical problem. Severe bleeding can arise as a result of radiation cystitis, bladder carcinoma, cyclophosphamide-induced cystitis, severe infection, transurethral resection of the prostate and prostate cancer. When irrigation of the bladder through a three-way catheter and fulguration of the bleeding lesions fail to stop the hematuria, a life-threatening situation can develop, when blood transfusion fails to keep pace with the rate of blood loss. Patients with massive uncontrollable hematuria are often elderly and unfit for cystectomy as a treatment. Many urologists have had to manage this difficult problem, and several different treatments have been attempted and described, with varying degrees of success. Transcatheter arterial embolization of the vesical or prostatic arteries is occasionally indicated in these patients when all other measures have failed. There is limited published experience with this procedure, but success in 90% of patients is reported when the vesical or prostatic arteries can be identified. The aim of this review is to describe the current place of transcatheter arterial embolization in the management of severe bladder or prostate bleeding after failed conservative therapy, and to review its efficacy and morbidity

    Intra-periodontal pocket drug delivery systems, such as liquid crystalline systems, are widely utilized improving the drug release control and the therapy. Propolis is used in the treatment of periodontal diseases, reducing the inflammatory and infectious conditions. Iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) can improve the treatment when an alternating external magnetic field (AEMF) is applied, increasing the local temperature. The aim of this study was to develop a liquid crystalline system containing MNPs for intra-periodontal pocket propolis release. MNPs were prepared using iron salts and the morphological, size, thermal, x-ray diffraction, magnetometry and Mössbauer spectroscopy analyses were performed. Cytotoxicity studies using Artemia salina and fibroblasts were also accomplished. The systems were prepared using polyoxyethylene (10) oleyl ether, isopropyl myristate, purified water, and characterized by polarized optical microscopy, rheometry, and in vitro drug release profile using a periodontal pocket simulator apparatus. The antifungal activity of the systems was investigated against Candida yeasts using an AEMF. MNPs displayed nanometric size, were monodisperse and they displayed very low cytotoxicity. Microscopically homogeneous formulations were obtained displaying important physicochemical and biological properties. The system displayed prolonged release of propolis and important in vitro fungicide activity, which was increased when the AEMF was applied, indicating a potentially alternative therapy for the treatment of the periodontal disease
