Medium-modified average multiplicity and multiplicity fluctuations in jets
The energy evolution of average multiplicities and multiplicity fluctuations
in jets produced in heavy-ion collisions is investigated from a toy
QCD-inspired model. In this model, we use modified splitting functions
accounting for medium-enhanced radiation of gluons by a fast parton which
propagates through the quark gluon plasma. The leading contribution of the
standard production of soft hadrons is enhanced by a factor while
next-to-leading order (NLO) corrections are suppressed by , where
the parameter accounts for the induced-soft gluons in the medium. Our
results for such global observables are cross-checked and compared with their
limits in the vacuum.Comment: 8 pages and 4 figures. Version to be published in EPJ
Angular structure of QCD jets
We derive the angular correlation functions between an arbitary number of
partons inside a quark or gluon jet emerging from a high energy hard collision.
As an application results for the correlation in the relative angle between two
partons as well as the multiplicity moments of any order for partons in a
sidewise angular region are calculated. At asymptotic energies the
distributions of rescaled angular variables approach a scaling limit of a new
type with two redundant quantities. All observables reveal the power behaviour
characteristic to the fully developed selfsimilar cascade in appropriate
regions of phase space. We present analytical results from the double
logarithmic approximation as well as Monte Carlo results.Comment: 99 pages, LATEX, figures and appendices uufiled and appene
Multiple Interactions and the Structure of Beam Remnants
Recent experimental data have established some of the basic features of
multiple interactions in hadron-hadron collisions. The emphasis is therefore
now shifting, to one of exploring more detailed aspects. Starting from a brief
review of the current situation, a next-generation model is developed, wherein
a detailed account is given of correlated flavour, colour, longitudinal and
transverse momentum distributions, encompassing both the partons initiating
perturbative interactions and the partons left in the beam remnants. Some of
the main features are illustrated for the Tevatron and the LHC.Comment: 69pp, 33 figure
Measurement of Inclusive Monmentum Spectra and Multiplicity Distributions of Charged Particles at GeV
Inclusive momentum spectra and multiplicity distributions of charged
particles measured with BESII detector at center of mass energies of
2.2,2.6,3.0,3.2,4.6 and 4.8 GeV are presented. Values of the second binomial
moment, , obtained from the multiplicity distributions are reported. These
results are compared with both experimental data from high energy ,
and experiments and QCD calculations.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures, 3 tables, it will be submitted to PR
