Time-Resolved Diffusing Wave Spectroscopy for selected photon paths beyond 300 transport mean free paths

This paper is devoted to the theoretical and experimental demonstration of the possibility to perform time-resolved diffusing wave spectroscopy: we successfully registered field fluctuations for selected photon path lengths that can overpass 300 transport mean free paths. Such a performance opens new possibilities for biomedical optics applications.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure

Time-resolved diffusing wave spectroscopy applied to dynamic heterogeneity imaging

We report in this paper what is to our knowledge the first observation of a time-resolved diffusing wave spectroscopy signal recorded by transillumination through a thick turbid medium: the DWS signal is measured for a fixed photon transit time, which opens the possibility of improving the spatial resolution. This technique could find biomedical applications, especially in mammography.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure

Monte Carlo simulation of collimated beam transmission through turbid media

    No full text
An accurate Monte Carlo (MC) computer model is used to calculate the reflectances (R) and transmittances (T) of isotropic scattering media for the case of collimated beam illumination and for a wide range of absorption and scattering coefficients Îș and σ per unit length. The MC results are presented by means of sets of curves with distance scaling in order to give an overall understanding of the subject. Numerical comparisons are made with analytical expressions obtained with a 3-flux model or derived from the equation of radiative transfer. These comparisons indicate the range of Îș and σ values where these expressions are applicable. A simple diagram is constructed with accurate MC results and can be used for direct graphical determination of Îș and σ from R and T measurements. The effects of reflections at the boundaries are described in the last section.

[Departement_IRSTEA]Ecotechnologies [TR1_IRSTEA]INSPIREThe struggle in Guadeloupe and Martinique against yellow Sigatoka of banana is amandatory fight is essentially carried out by application of treatment product by air. In order to comply with an EU directive establishing a ban on aerial spraying except in special cases qualifying for exemption, the EB requested by the professional bodyof Union Group of banana producers told the Cemagref OPTIBAN the project. This project includes the completion of investigation to propose technical solutions from a reliable aerial application and also to provide alternative ground spraying solutions when the waiver cannot be implemented. This report presents the results in terms of drift and deposition on vegetation obtained during application by plane or helicopter of Banole or water on a banana plantation. Different configurations were tested for the type of nozzle, the boom length or the use of baffles. The results indicate that improvements are possible for helicopters by choosing certain types of nozzle.

Stochastic Modelling of Coherent Phenomena in Strongly Inhomogeneous Media.

    No full text
A procedure of numerical simulation for coherent phenomena in multiply scattering media is developed on the basis of the juxtaposition of a Monte Carlo stochastic method with an iterative approach to the solution of the Bethe- Salpeter equation. The time correlation function and the interference component of coherent backscattering are calculated for scalar and electromagnetic fields. The results of simulation are in good agreement with experimental results, as well as with theoretical results obtained by generalizing the Milne solution
