    A practical exploration of ontology interoperability

    ISO Common Logic (CL, ISO/IEC 24707:2007) offers the Semantic Web (SW) a new and powerful dimension in achieving the effective discovery, automation, integration, and reuse across applications, data and knowledge. The paper shows how it is possible to explore such interoperability through small scale exemplar projects. As Conceptual Graphs (CG) is a key technology in CL, we focused on the Amine CG software and for the SW we focused on the Protégé OWL software, exploring the possible mappings between ontologies captured in OWL and in Amine. Through this practical exercise the dimensions and extent of the desired interoperability could be demonstrated. This small but significant experiment provided a practical insight into how CG Tools can actually interoperate towards achieving the wider goal of Ontology interoperability between CL and the SW.</p

    Angetrieben durch Fortschritte im Bereich von Hard- und Software hat auch der Einsatz von Augmented Reality (AR) und Virtual Reality (VR) in den letzten Jahren stark zugenommen. Insbesondere in Marketing und Vertrieb ergeben sich interessante Einsatzfelder dieser Technologien. Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht Einsatzfelder, aber auch Kundenerwartungen am Beispiel des Premium- und Luxus-Retail durch Experteninterviews und durch eine Online-Befragung von 399 Kunden. Es wird deutlich, dass der Kundennutzen eine wesentliche Rolle für die Akzeptanz von AR und VR spielt, und dass die Unterstützung der Vorstellungskraft und die Interaktion wesentliche Nutzenerwartungen sind. Diese unterscheiden sich vor allem im Hinblick auf persönliche Interessen und weniger im Hinblick auf soziodemografische Kriterien. Persönliche Interessen sind also eine relevante Grundlage zur Zielgruppendefinition. Vielversprechende Anwendungen sind insbesondere die virtuelle Darstellung von Produkten zuhause und Erlebnis-Apps. Anbieter sollten aber den Return on Investment (ROI) im Auge behalten und über den Kundennuten langfristige Wettbewerbsvorteile aufbauen, anstatt in Aktionismus zu verfallen

    Functional impact of oxygen-saturated zeolite nanoparticles on macrophages in the context of glioblastoma: an in vitro and in vivo study

    CERVOXYInternational audienceIn the context of glioblastoma (GBM), hypoxia and inflammation are two main players of the tumor microenvironment. Hypoxia stimulates various features involves in tumor growth and also maintains a specific environment that favors protumor macrophages. Therefore, targeting hypoxia could potentially restore an anti-tumor M1 phenotype in macrophages. Besides, iron demonstrated its capacity to stimulate the polarization of macrophages towards an M1-like phenotype. In this paper we took advantages of microporous nanoparticles to co-deliver both oxygen and iron to bone marrow derived macrophages (BMDM) enabling the investigation of changes in polarization status and proteomic profiles. The nanoparticles were used in two in vivo models of glioblastoma, specifically, in both immunodeficient and immunocompetent settings. Our in vitro findings revealed that iron doped nanoparticles, saturated with oxygen were deemed safe for macrophages but did not demonstrate the capacity to change the M1 or M2 phenotypes. However, these nanoparticles induced some changes in proteomics pathways. The present study reports on in vivo experimentation that revealed the effects of nanoparticles on the hypoxic fraction, tumor volume, and macrophage phenotype in a GBM model. The findings indicated that the presence of nanoparticles led to a reduction in the hypoxic fraction in one of the GBM models, while no significant changes were observed in the tumor volume or macrophage phenotype. The present data showed that nanoparticles possess the capability of delivering both oxygen and iron to macrophages; though, they do not possess the ability to effectively repolarize M2 macrophages. Such strategies could be used in conjunction with other potent molecules to avoid M1 macrophages to inevitably differentiate to M2 macrophages
