The role of pre-treatment interpersonal problems for in-session emotional processing and long-term outcome in emotion-focused psychotherapy
Objective: Interpersonal problems may lead to, uphold, or follow from depression. However, we know little of how depressed patients' different interpersonal problems are associated with patients' emotional processing during psychotherapy and whether distinct processes are helpful for their long-term reduction. Method: 23 adult outpatients who received emotion-focused therapies lasting 16-20 sessions filled the Inventory of Interpersonal Problems at pre- and post-treatment and 18-month follow-up. These problems were related to emotional processing in two mid-therapy sessions, rated by observers with the Classification of Affective-Meaning States. Results: All pre-treatment interpersonal problems were clearly associated with patients' negative evaluations of themselves during therapy. Self-experiences of vindictiveness were most pronouncedly linked to in-session emotional expressions of rejecting anger, and self-experiences of social inhibition to expressions of fear and shame, following a circumplex model. In the long-term reduction of interpersonal problems, especially reaching emotional states of hurt and grief seemed beneficial for patients who experienced themselves as socially inhibited, non-assertive, self-sacrificing, or overly accommodating. Conclusions: For clients suffering from particular interpersonal problems, accessing particularly beneficial emotional processes, such as hurt and grief, may form specific therapeutic process goals. Further studies should verify these findings, which link interpersonal theory with research on emotional processing in psychotherapy.Peer reviewe
Lorentz shear modulus of fractional quantum Hall states
We show that the Lorentz shear modulus of macroscopically homogeneous
electronic states in the lowest Landau level is proportional to the bulk
modulus of an equivalent system of interacting classical particles in the
thermodynamic limit. Making use of this correspondence we calculate the Lorentz
shear modulus of Laughlin's fractional quantum Hall states at filling factor
( an odd integer) and find that it is equal to ,
where is the density of particles and the sign depends on the direction of
magnetic field. This is in agreement with the recent result obtained by Read in
arXiv:0805.2507 and corrects our previous result published in Phys. Rev. B {\bf

Dual Deletion of the Sirtuins SIRT2 and SIRT3 Impacts on Metabolism and Inflammatory Responses of Macrophages and Protects From Endotoxemia.
Sirtuin 2 (SIRT2) and SIRT3 are cytoplasmic and mitochondrial NAD-dependent deacetylases. SIRT2 and SIRT3 target proteins involved in metabolic, proliferation and inflammation pathways and have been implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative, metabolic and oncologic disorders. Both pro- and anti-inflammatory effects have been attributed to SIRT2 and SIRT3, and single deficiency in SIRT2 or SIRT3 had minor or no impact on antimicrobial innate immune responses. Here, we generated a SIRT2/3 double deficient mouse line to study the interactions between SIRT2 and SIRT3. SIRT2/3 <sup>-/-</sup> mice developed normally and showed subtle alterations of immune cell populations in the bone marrow, thymus, spleen, blood and peritoneal cavity that contained notably more anti-inflammatory B-1a cells and less NK cells. In vitro, SIRT2/3 <sup>-/-</sup> macrophages favored fatty acid oxidation (FAO) over glycolysis and produced increased levels of both proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines. In line with metabolic adaptation and increased numbers of peritoneal B-1a cells, SIRT2/3 <sup>-/-</sup> mice were robustly protected from endotoxemia. Yet, SIRT2/3 double deficiency did not modify endotoxin tolerance. Overall, these data suggest that sirtuins can act in concert or compensate each other for certain immune functions, a parameter to be considered for drug development. Moreover, inhibitors targeting multiple sirtuins developed for clinical purposes may be useful to treat inflammatory diseases

Anisotropic transport for FQH state at intermediate magnetic field
The state is spin-unpolarized at weak magnetic field and fully
polarized at strong field. At intermediate field, a plateau of half the maximal
polarization is observed. We study this phenomenon in the frame of composite
fermion theory. Due to the mixing of the composite fermion Landau levels, the
unidirectional charge/spin density wave state of composite fermions is lower in
energy than the Wigner crystal. It means that transport anisotropy, similar to
those for electrons in higher Landau levels at half fillings, may take place at
this fractional quantum Hall state when the external magnetic field is in an
appropriate range. When the magnetic field is tilted an angle, the easy
transport direction is perpendicular to the direction of the in-plane field.
Varying the partial filling factor of composite fermion Landau level from 0 to
1, we find that the energy minimum occurs in the vicinity of one-half.Comment: 2 figure
A comparison of risk factors for breech presentation in preterm and term labor : a nationwide, population-based case-control study
Purpose To determine if the common risks for breech presentation at term labor are also eligible in preterm labor. Methods A Finnish cross-sectional study included 737,788 singleton births (24-42 gestational weeks) during 2004-2014. A multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to calculate the risks of breech presentation. Results The incidence of breech presentation at delivery decreased from 23.5% in pregnancy weeks 24-27 to 2.5% in term pregnancies. In gestational weeks 24-27, preterm premature rupture of membranes was associated with breech presentation. In 28-31 gestational weeks, breech presentation was associated with maternal pre-eclampsia/hypertension, preterm premature rupture of membranes, and fetal birth weight below the tenth percentile. In gestational weeks 32-36, the risks were advanced maternal age, nulliparity, previous cesarean section, preterm premature rupture of membranes, oligohydramnios, birth weight below the tenth percentile, female sex, and congenital anomaly. In term pregnancies, breech presentation was associated with advanced maternal age, nulliparity, maternal hypothyroidism, pre-gestational diabetes, placenta praevia, premature rupture of membranes, oligohydramnios, congenital anomaly, female sex, and birth weight below the tenth percentile. Conclusion Breech presentation in preterm labor is associated with obstetric risk factors compared to cephalic presentation. These risks decrease linearly with the gestational age. In moderate to late preterm delivery, breech presentation is a high-risk state and some obstetric risk factors are yet visible in early preterm delivery. Breech presentation in extremely preterm deliveries has, with the exception of preterm premature rupture of membranes, similar clinical risk profiles as in cephalic presentation.Peer reviewe
