Diblock copolymers at a homopolymer-homopolymer-interface: a Monte Carlo simulation
The properties of diluted symmetric A-B diblock copolymers at the interface
between A and B homopolymer phases are studied by means of Monte Carlo (MC)
simulations of the bond fluctuation model. We calculate segment density
profiles as well as orientational properties of segments, of A and B blocks,
and of the whole chain. Our data support the picture of oriented ``dumbbells'',
which consist of mildly perturbed A and B Gaussian coils. The results are
compared to a self consistent field theory (SCFT) for single copolymer chains
at a homopolymer interface. We also discuss the number of interaction contacts
between monomers, which provide a measure for the ``active surface'' of
copolymers or homopolymers close to the interface

Microphase separation in linear multiblock copolymers under poor solvent conditions
Molecular dynamics simulations are used to study the phase behavior of linear
multiblock copolymers with two types of monomers, A and B, where the length of
the polymer blocks and (), the number of the
blocks and (), and the solvent quality varies.
The fraction of A-type monomers is kept constant and equal to 0.5. Whereas
at high enough temperatures these macromolecules form coil structures, where
each block A or B forms rather individual clusters, at low enough temperatures
A and B monomers from different blocks can join together forming clusters of A
or B monomers. The dependence of the formation of these clusters on the varied
parameters is discussed in detail, providing a full understanding of the phase
behavior of linear multiblock copolymers, at least for this symmetrical case.Comment: 8 pages, 12 figures, to be published in Soft Matte
