Two Films – Two Celebrations – Two Theories

    No full text
Szkic jest poświęcony dwóm filmom dokumentalnym Andrzeja Fidyka: Defilada (1989) i Carnaval. Największe party świata (1995) analizowanym w kontekście teorii święta Émile’a Durkheima (effervescence collective) i Victora Turnera (communitas). Autor odnajduje elementy sakralne zarówno w wielkiej defiladzie zorganizowanej z okazji obchodów czterdziestolecia Koreańskiej Republiki Ludowo-Demokratycznej, jak i w karnawale w Rio de Janeiro. The text is devoted to two documentary films by Andrzej Fidyk: North Korea: The Parade (1989) and Carnaval. The Biggest Party in the World (1995) analysed in the context of Émile Durkheim’s (effervescence collective) and Victor Turner’s (communitas) theories of celebration. The author finds sacral elements both in the great parade organized on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Korean Democratic People’s Republic and in the carnival in Rio de Janeiro. It turns out, however, that the opposition of profanum and sacrum – or of structure and anti-structure that appears natural in the analysis of the two celebrations filmed by Fidyk, is illusory. The structure is mixed with anti-structure on a dialectical basis: suspended for the duration of the festivity, it is revived in its celebration

Influence of Friction Stir Welding (FSW) on Mechanical and Corrosion Properties of AW-7020M and Aw-7020 Alloys

Friction welding associated with mixing the weld material (FSW - Friction Stir Welding ) is an alternative to MIG and TIG welding techniques for Al-alloys. This paper presents experimental results obtained from static tension tests on specimens made of AW-7020M and AW-7020 alloys and their joints welded by using FSW method carried out on flat specimens, according to Polish standards : PN-EN ISO 4136:2011 and PN-EN ISO 6892-1:2010. Results of corrosion resistance tests are also presented. The tests were performed by using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). EIS measurement was conducted with the use of three-electrode system in a substitute sea water environment (3,5% NaCl - water solution). The impedance tests were carried out under corrosion potential. Voltage signal amplitude was equal to 10mV, and its frequency range - 100 kHz ÷ 0,1 Hz. Atlas 0531 EU&IA potentiostat was used for the tests. For the tested object an equivalent model was selected in the form of a substitute electric circuit. Results of the impedance spectroscopy tests are presented in the form of parameters which characterize corrosion process, as well as on Nyquist’s graphs together with the best-fit theoretical curve

The Possibility of Applying Acoustic Emission and Dynamometric Methods for Monitoring the Turning Process

Ensuring optimal turning conditions has a huge impact on the quality and properties of the machined surface. The condition of the cutting tool is one of the factors to achieve this goal. In order to control its wear during the turning process, monitoring was used. In this study, the acoustic emission method and measure of cutting forces during turning were used for monitoring that process. The research was carried out on a universal lathe center (CU500MRD type) using a Kistler dynamometer with assembled removable insert CCET09T302R-MF by DIJET Industrial CO., LTD. A dynamometer allows to measure forces Fx (radial force), Fy (feed force) and Fz (cutting force). The turning process was performed on a shaft with 60 mm diameter made of 304L stainless steel. The AE research was carried at Physical Acoustics Corporation with the kit that includes: recorder USB AE Node, preamplifier, AE-sensor VS 150M and computer with dedicated software used for recording and analyzing AE data. The aim of this paper is to compare selected diagnostic methods: acoustic emission and cutting forces measurement for monitoring wear of cutting tool edge. Analysis of the research results showed that both selected methods of monitoring the turning process allowed the determination of the beginning of the tool damage process
