    Get PDF
AbstractIn order to find solutions to the ground emission of gangue and realize the gangue pumping into the mined-out area, the underground experimental research is conducted in Shandong Huafeng Coalmine. Through the orthogonal experiment, the research deals with the effect of crushed particle size, mass concentration, and the amount of cement added on the pumping, filling, and the cost. As suggested by the experiment, the particle size of gangue has a significant effect on the pumpability of gangue-paste, and the amount of cement added obviously affects the compressive strength of the gangue-paste and the filling cost. According to the best experimented combination of particle size, the amount of cement added and mass concentration, this experimental system brings about an effective filling of the conventional mining-out area, and furthermore, provides a new approach for the disposal of gangue

Titanate nanofibers containing silver have been demonstrated through the experiments reported herein to have effective antifungal and antiproliferative activities in the presence of UV light. The titanate nanofibers containing silver can be fabricated by means of ion exchange followed by a topochemical process in an environment suitable for reductive reactions. Excellent antibacterial, antifungal, and antiproliferative activities could be demonstrated by both Ag2Ti5O11 · xH2O and Ag/titanate (UV light irradiation) due to their unique structures and compositions, which have photocatalytic activities to generate reactive oxygen species and capabilities to continuously release the silver ions. Therefore these materials have the potential to produce a membrane for the treatment of superficial malignant tumor, esophageal cancer, or cervical carcinoma. They may also hold utility if incorporated into a coating on stents in moderate and advanced stage esophageal carcinoma or for endoscopic retrograde biliary drainage. These approaches may significantly reduce infections, inhibit tumor growth, and importantly, improve quality of life and prolong survival time for patients with tumors

Background: "Atrial fibrillation Better Care" (ABC) pathway has been proposed to improve the management of patients suffered from atrial fibrillation (AF). This integrated or holistic management approach comprise of three aspects, including "A" Avoid stroke or Anticoagulation; "B" Better symptom control with rate or rhythm control strategies; "C" Cardiovascular risk factor and Concomitant diseases management. We aimed to confirm the beneficial evidence of ABC pathway compliance in a Chinese AF cohort. Method and Results: From the Chinese Atrial Fibrillation registry (CAFR) dataset, a total of 19,187 non-valvular AF patients were enrolled, of which 4.365 (22.8%) were ABC pathway compliant (ABC compliance group). During a median follow-up of 4.1 ± 1.8 years, The incident rate of all-cause death in ABC compliance group and non-ABC compliance group is 2.7 and 1.1 per 100 person-year (p p p Conclusion: In a large cohort of Chinese AF patients, ABC pathway compliance shows an independently association with reduction of all-cause death and composite outcome of all-cause death, ischemic stroke and intracranial hemorrhage. Better compliance of ABC integrated care contributes to lower HR for adverse events

The effect of pituitrin on postoperative outcomes in patients with pulmonary hypertension undergoing cardiac surgery: a study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

    Get PDF
BackgroundThe vasoplegic syndrome is one of the major consequences of cardiac surgery. If pulmonary hypertension is additionally involved with vasoplegic syndrome, circulation management becomes much more complicated. According to previous studies, pituitrin (a substitute for vasopressin, which contains vasopressin and oxytocin) not only constricts systemic circulation vessels and increases systemic circulation pressure but also likely decreases pulmonary artery pressure and pulmonary vascular resistance. The aim of this study is to investigate whether pituitrin is beneficial for the postoperative outcomes in patients with pulmonary hypertension undergoing cardiac surgery. Methods and analysisThe randomized controlled trial will include an intervention group continuously infused with 0.04 U/(kg h) of pituitrin and a control group. Adult patients with pulmonary hypertension undergoing elective cardiac surgery will be included in this study. Patients who meet the conditions and give their consent will be randomly assigned to the intervention group or the control group. The primary outcome is the composite endpoint of all-cause mortality within 30 days after surgery or common complications after cardiac surgery. Secondary outcomes include the incidence of other postoperative complications, length of hospital stay, and so on.DiscussionPituitrin constricts systemic circulation vessels, increases systemic circulation pressure, and may reduce pulmonary artery pressure and pulmonary vascular resistance, which makes it a potentially promising vasopressor during the perioperative period in patients with pulmonary hypertension. Therefore, evidence from randomized controlled trials is necessary to elucidate whether pituitrin influences outcomes in patients with pulmonary hypertension following cardiac surgery

A compact statistical model of the song syntax in Bengalese finch

    Get PDF
Songs of many songbird species consist of variable sequences of a finite number of syllables. A common approach for characterizing the syntax of these complex syllable sequences is to use transition probabilities between the syllables. This is equivalent to the Markov model, in which each syllable is associated with one state, and the transition probabilities between the states do not depend on the state transition history. Here we analyze the song syntax in a Bengalese finch. We show that the Markov model fails to capture the statistical properties of the syllable sequences. Instead, a state transition model that accurately describes the statistics of the syllable sequences includes adaptation of the self-transition probabilities when states are repeatedly revisited, and allows associations of more than one state to the same syllable. Such a model does not increase the model complexity significantly. Mathematically, the model is a partially observable Markov model with adaptation (POMMA). The success of the POMMA supports the branching chain network hypothesis of how syntax is controlled within the premotor song nucleus HVC, and suggests that adaptation and many-to-one mapping from neural substrates to syllables are important features of the neural control of complex song syntax

Fabrication of CuO nanoparticle interlinked microsphere cages by solution method

Here we report a very simple method to convert conventional CuO powders to nanoparticle interlinked microsphere cages by solution method. CuO is dissolved into aqueous ammonia, and the solution is diluted by alcohol and dip coating onto a glass substrate. Drying at 80 °C, the nanostructures with bunchy nanoparticles of Cu(OH)2can be formed. After the substrate immerges into the solution and we vaporize the solution, hollow microspheres can be formed onto the substrate. There are three phases in the as-prepared samples, monoclinic tenorite CuO, orthorhombic Cu(OH)2, and monoclinic carbonatodiamminecopper(II) (Cu(NH3)2CO3). After annealing at 150 °C, the products convert to CuO completely. At annealing temperature above 350 °C, the hollow microspheres became nanoparticle interlinked cages

High-performance geometric nonlinear analysis with the unsymmetric 4-node, 8-DOF plane element US-ATFQ4

A recent unsymmetric 4-node, 8-DOF plane element US-ATFQ4, which exhibits excellent precision and distortion-resistance for linear elastic problems, is extended to geometric nonlinear analysis. Since the original linear element US-ATFQ4 contains the analytical solutions for plane pure bending, how to modify such formulae into incremental forms for nonlinear applications and design an appropriate updated algorithm become the key of the whole job. First, the analytical trial functions should be updated at each iterative step in the framework of updated Lagrangian formulation that takes the configuration at the beginning of an incremental step as the reference configuration during that step. Second, an appropriate stress update algorithm in which the Cauchy stresses are updated by the Hughes-Winget method is adopted to estimate current stress fields. Numerical examples show that the new nonlinear element US-ATFQ4 also possesses amazing performance for geometric nonlinear analysis, no matter whether regular or distorted meshes are used. It again demonstrates the advantages of the unsymmetric finite element method with analytical trial functions
