    This paper describes the experience gained at the University of Padova Library System on modelling, creation, management and preservation of digital collections with Phaidra, the Digital Asset Management tool created and developed by the University of Vienna, for GLAM institutions (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums). There is also an examination of the motivations and strategies for creating a model for the presentation of the collections aimed at enhancing the cultural heritage of libraries, archives and museums of the University and local partners (Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and Università Iuav di Venezia) and intended for use by a specialised audience as well as by the general public. Future challenges include the repository certification and the enrichment of the search functionality

    Validation of a Commercial Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) Assay for the Rapid Detection of Anisakis spp. DNA in Processed Fish Products

    Parasites belonging to the Anisakis genera are organisms of interest for human health because they are responsible for the Anisakiasis zoonosis, caused by the ingestion of raw or undercooked fish. Furthermore, several authors have reported this parasite to be a relevant inducer of acute or chronic allergic diseases. In this work, a rapid commercial system based on Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) was optimised and validated for the sensitive and rapid detection of Anisakis spp. DNA in processed fish products. The specificity and sensitivity of the LAMP assay for processed fish samples experimentally infected with Anisakis spp. larvae and DNA were determined. The LAMP system proposed in this study was able to give positive amplification for all the processed fish samples artificially contaminated with Anisakis spp., giving sensitivity values equal to 100%. Specificity tests provided no amplification for the Contracaecum, Pseudoterranova, or Hysterothylacium genera and uninfected samples. The limit of detection (LOD) of the LAMP assay proposed was 102 times lower than the real-time PCR method compared. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report regarding the application of the LAMP assay for the detection of Anisakis spp. in processed fish products. The results obtained indicate that the LAMP assay validated in this work could be a reliable, easy-to-use, and convenient tool for the rapid detection of Anisakis DNA in fish product inspection

    Autoestima y Autoeficacia Académica en Adolescentes de un Colegio Parroquial del Distrito de San Luis

    En el presente estudio se investigó la relación entre las variables de autoestima y autoeficacia académica en adolescentes de 3°,4° y 5° de secundaria de un colegio parroquial del distrito de San Luis. El estudio es de diseño descriptivo-correlacional. La población consta de 367 estudiantes, siendo 191 mujeres y 176 varones con edades que oscilaban entre 13 a 17 años. Los instrumentos aplicados fueron los siguientes: el Inventario de Autoestima de Coopersmith (forma escolar) y la Escala de Autoeficacia en el Rendimiento Escolar. Los resultados encontrados demostraron que, si existe relación entre las variables autoestima y autoeficacia académica. Además, si hay una correlación significativa de los factores social, hogar y padres con la variable autoeficacia académica. También se encontró una correlación inversa entre el factor escolar académica y la autoeficacia académica. Por último, se determinó que no existe una relación significativa entre el factor sí mismo del test de Autoestima y la Autoeficacia académica

    Axillary Ectopic Carcinoma of the Breast. Report of Two Cases with Different Clinical Presentation and Review of the Literature.

    Aims: Primary ectopic breast cancer (PEBC) is a rare and often misdiagnosed condition. Through the discussion of two clinical cases, we want to focus on clinical presentation, outcomes and treatment of PEBC, to lead clinicians to awareness and optimal management. Methods: We present the case of a 47-year-old patient, with a 30 mm axillary mass, that was diagnosed as a PEBC (infiltrating lobular carcinoma, triple negative). The patient underwent systemic staging: diffuse metastatic bone lesions and leptomeningeal metastasis were found. The second patient is a 73-year-old woman with personal history of right breast tumor. She came to our attention for a 9 mm left axillary mass, suspicious for a metastatic lymph node. A fine-needle cytology revealed the absence of lymphoid cells but the presence of atypical epithelial cells, as in a primary breast carcinoma. She was treated with local excision and sentinel node biopsy. Results: The first patient presented with metastatic disease at the time of diagnosis and she deceased after three months from the diagnosis, despite systemic chemotherapy. The diagnosis was performed at an early stage in the second patient. She underwent surgery, complementary endocrine therapy and radiotherapy. She has no evident disease after two years from surgery. Conclusion: Primary ectopic breast cancer is a rare clinical entity, often misdiagnosed or diagnosed with a long delay. The treatment of PEBC is analogous to that of orthotopic breast cancer, but we strongly recommend to approach the patient with a multidisciplinary team to provide the best staging workout and therapie

    Background: Myeloid Sarcoma (MS) is a rare hematologic cancer, which can occur as a breast mass to be distinguished from other non-hematopoietic tumors. Case Presentation: This report describe the unusual clinical history of a young woman diagnosed with MS. Radiotherapy/surgery alone may be inadequate, while chemotherapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation demonstrated to improve the prognosis for the isolated extramedullary localization. Conclusion: Performing a needle biopsy in order to exclude the diagnosis of a primitive breast disease is irreplaceable

    De Novo Donor-Specific HLA Antibodies Developing Early or Late after Transplant Are Associated with the Same Risk of Graft Damage and Loss in Nonsensitized Kidney Recipients

    De novo posttransplant donor-specific HLA-antibody (dnDSA) detection is now recognized as a tool to identify patients at risk for antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) and graft loss. It is still unclear whether the time interval from transplant to DSA occurrence influences graft damage. Utilizing sera collected longitudinally, we evaluated 114 consecutive primary pediatric kidney recipients grafted between 2002 and 2013 for dnDSA occurrence by Luminex platform. dnDSAs occurred in 39 patients at a median time of 24.6 months. In 15 patients, dnDSAs developed within 1 year (early-onset group), while the other 24 seroconverted after the first posttransplant year (late-onset group). The two groups were comparable when considering patient- and transplant-related factors, as well as DSA biological properties, including C1q and C3d complement-binding ability. Only recipient age at transplant significantly differed in the two cohorts, with younger patients showing earlier dnDSA development. Late AMR was diagnosed in 47% of the early group and in 58% of the late group. Graft loss occurred in 3/15 (20%) and 4/24 (17%) patients in early- and late-onset groups, respectively (p = ns). In our pediatric kidney recipients, dnDSAs predict AMR and graft loss irrespective of the time elapsed between transplantation and antibody occurrence
