Upgraded photon calorimeter with integrating readout for Hall A Compton Polarimeter at Jefferson Lab
The photon arm of the Compton polarimeter in Hall A of Jefferson Lab has been
upgraded to allow for electron beam polarization measurements with better than
1% accuracy. The data acquisition system (DAQ) now includes an integrating
mode, which eliminates several systematic uncertainties inherent in the
original counting-DAQ setup. The photon calorimeter has been replaced with a
Ce-doped GSO crystal, which has a bright output and fast response, and works
well for measurements using the new integrating method at electron beam
energies from 1 to 6 GeV.Comment: 16 pages, 15 figure
Jennifer for COVID-19: An NLP-Powered Chatbot Built for the Peopleand by the People to Combat Misinformation
Just as SARS-CoV-2 continues to infect a growing number of people around the world, harmful misinformation about the outbreak also continues to spread. We designed and built Jennifer chatbot to provide easily accessible information from reliable resources to answer questions related to the current COVID-19 pandemic. It covers a wide variety of topics, from case statistics to best practices for disease prevention and management.Short conference paper</p
Structural characterization of Lu0.7Y0..3AlO3 single crystal by Raman spectroscopy
Lutetium yttrium orthoaluminate perovskite [Lu0.7Y0.3AlO3 (LuYAP)] crystals show great potential as fast response and highefficiency scintillators as an alternative to LuAlO3 (LuAP) crystals. This paper aims to offer a complete analysis of the vibrational modes of the LuYAP crystal by means of polarized Raman spectroscopy in the temperature range of 20-290 K and confronting the experimental results with numerical methods inorder to characterize the crystal structure.Furthermore, an interpretation of the data in terms of vibrating molecular structures is suggested and the results are successfully confronted with the vibrational modes of similar perovskite crystal
