Italy has a long history of immigration, which has become part of the country’s landscape in a complex and varied way, and has led to significant changes in important contexts such as in the school, the work place, and in the provision of welfare services. And yet, immigration policies still consist in emergency measures that do not recognize the phenomenon in its long -standing and structural dimension. In addition, public opinion is concerned as a result of the alarmist distortion of this issue, as shown by the gapbetween data on immigration and perceived immigration. Since in this research we take into consideration collusively shared experiences, these misunderstandings can not be corrected by providing more information on the real data; we posit that the emotional scope must be recognized in order to address this issue. In particular, we asked ourselves how this context -changes brought by immigration, public opinion, and government policies -is repre sented within the migrant Accordingly, we interviewed a group of reception staff from the Roman area on the type of service that they think they are offering. The results show how, in their experience, this complex reality of immigration is not evoked: the experience within the services is isolated from the Italian narrative and context. However, the voice of migrants and their point of view, emerge as a resource within these services, as openness rather than isolation

Pisces VII: Discovery of a possible satellite of Messier 33 in the DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys

We report deep imaging observations with DOLoRes@TNG of an ultra-faint dwarf satellite candidate of the Triangulum galaxy (M33) found by visual inspection of the public imaging data release of the DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys. Pisces VII/Triangulum (Tri) III is found at a projected distance of 72 kpc from M33, and using the tip of the red giant branch method we estimate a distance of D=1.0 +0.3,-0.2 Mpc, meaning the galaxy could either be an isolated ultra-faint or the second known satellite of M33. We estimate an absolute magnitude of M_V=-6.1+/-0.2 if Pisces VII/Tri II is at the distance of M33, or as bright as M_V=-6.8+/-0.2 if the galaxy is isolated. At the isolated distance, it has a physical half-light radius of r_h=131+/-61 pc consistent with similarly faint galaxies around the Milky Way. As the tip of the red giant branch is sparsely populated, constraining a precision distance is not possible, but if Pisces VII/Tri III can be confirmed as a true satellite of M33 it is a significant finding. With only one potential satellite detected around M33 previously (Andromeda XXII/Tri I), it lacks a significant satellite population in stark contrast to the similarly massive Large Magellanic Cloud. The detection of more satellites in the outskirts of M33 could help to better illuminate if this discrepancy between expectation and observations is due to a poor understanding of the galaxy formation process, or if it is due to the low luminosity and surface brightness of the M33 satellite population which has thus far fallen below the detection limits of previous surveys. Pegasus V -- a newly discovered ultra-faint dwarf galaxy on the outskirts of Andromeda

We report the discovery of an ultra-faint dwarf in the constellation of Pegasus. Pegasus~V (Peg~V) was initially identified in the public imaging data release of the DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys and confirmed with deep imaging from Gemini/GMOS-N. The colour-magnitude diagram shows a sparse red giant branch (RGB) population and a strong over-density of blue horizontal branch stars. We measure a distance to Peg~V of $D=692^{+33}_{-31}$~kpc, making it a distant satellite of Andromeda with $M_V=-6.3\pm0.2$ and a half-light radius of $r_{\rm half}=89\pm41$~pc. It is located $\sim260$~kpc from Andromeda in the outskirts of its halo. The RGB is well-fit by a metal-poor isochrone with [Fe/H]$=-3.2$, suggesting it is very metal poor. This, combined with its blue horizontal branch could imply that it is a reionisation fossil. This is the first detection of an ultra-faint dwarf outside the deep Pan-Andromeda Archaeological Survey area, and points to a rich, faint satellite population in the outskirts of our nearest neighbour.Comment: Submitted to MNRAS Letters. 6 pages, 4 figures. Hysterectomy by transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery: An Italian initial experience

BackgroundThe aim of this study is to evaluate the initial feasibility, safety, and outcomes of hysterectomy performed by transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) at three institutions in Italy.Materials and methodsAll women who underwent vNOTES hysterectomy ± salpingo-oophorectomy for benign indications at three tertiary referral medical centers between July 2019 and April 2021 were included in a retrospective analysis. All vNOTESs were performed with the use of Alexis® and Vpath Gel paths® (Applied Medical). Perioperative data were extracted from patient records. Patient satisfaction and dyspareunia were prospectively inquired about at 60 days and 6 months.ResultsForty-six patients underwent vNOTES in the study period. Indications for surgery included myomas ± metrorrhagia (52.2%), H-Sil/in situ cervical cancer (10.7%), adenomyosis ± metrorrhagia (8.7%), BRCA 1-2 mutations (6.5%), endometrial hyperplasia (6.5%), ovarian cyst + history of breast cancer (6.5%), metrorrhagia (6.5%), and hydatidiform mole (2.2%). The mean operation time was 91.1 (±32.6) minutes. The mean hemoglobin drop was 1.2 (±0.8). The mean visual analog scale at 24 h for post-operative pain was 3.3 (±1.8). Secondary to our limited experience with the surgical technique, we favor discharge only from day 1. The mean length of hospital stay was 2 (±1.4) days. Two conversions to conventional laparoscopy were reported (4.3%), due to an obliterated pouch of Douglas and a preoperative complication. Two post-operative complications were reported (4.3%). Overall, our data on peri- and post-operative outcomes are similar to those already published for vNOTES.ConclusionOur initial experience suggests that introducing vNOTES as an alternative to conventional surgery is feasible and may offer some advantages in selected women
