Pendeteksian Tepi Objek Menggunakan Metode Gradien
Solving Problems with the Percentage Bar
At the end of primary school all children more of less know what a percentage is, but yet they often struggle with percentage problems. This article describes a study in which students of 13 and 14 years old were given a written test with percentage problems and a week later were interviewed about the way they solved some of these problems. In a teaching experiment the students were then taught the use of the percentage bar. Although the teaching experiment was very short - just one lesson - the results confirm that the percentage bar is a powerful model that deserves a central place in the teaching of percentages

Pengenalan Angka Tulisan Tangan Menggunakan Jaringan Syaraf Tiruan
Current technological developments spur the application of pattern recognition in various fields, such as the introduction of signature patterns, fingerprints, faces, and handwriting. Human handwriting has differences between one another and often handwriting is difficult to read or difficult to recognize and this can hamper daily activities, such as transaction activities that require handwriting. Even one of the biometric features of everyone is handwriting. One method that can be used to recognize handwriting patterns in the field of computer science is artificial neural networks (ANN) with the learning algorithm is backpropagation. Artificial neural networks are able to recognize something based on the past. This means that past data will be studied so as to be able to make decisions on new data. To recognize handwriting patterns using artificial neural networks, the characteristics of handwritten objects are extracted using an invariant moment. The results of training using artificial neural networks indicate that the correlation coefficient value is obtained on the number of hidden layer neurons by 30. The highest correlation coefficient value is 0.61382. The test results on the test data obtained an accuracy rate of 11.67% of the total test data
Monoclonal Antibodies for Asthma Management
Asthma is a multifactorial and complex disease, with different degrees of risks and severity, as well as the response to treatment. Medications currently available are most effective in severe asthma; nonetheless, there is a percentage of patients that have no response to the treatment that guidelines suggest in their recommendations. In the last years, there have been new insights in inflammatory molecules that contribute to asthma physiopathology and a lot of them have been considered to be possible targets in the management of severe asthma. As a consequence of this, a few monoclonal antibodies have been developed evidencing their effectiveness in the treatment of the disease. The study of these new therapies has allowed the identification of specific inflammatory pathways. This chapter intends to offer a critical perspective of the current guidelines for the management of severe asthma, as well as to discuss current treatments and the future on new molecules. Through an adequate characterization, different phenotypes will be recognized and associated with a determinate biomarker and should be used to select the treatment that can offer the highest efficiency in these patients. In this way, the treatment will be directed to a personalized medicine
Total Flying Hours and Risk of High Systolic Blood Pressure in the Civilian Pilot in Indonesia
Background: Systolic high blood pressure among civilian pilots among others will cause cardiovascular disease and this condition will disrupt the flight. The purpose of this study was to identified the dominant factors related to high systolic blood pressure in the civilian pilots. Methods: A cross-sectional study with a purposive sampling method on a pilot who performed periodic medical examinations in the Civil Aviation Medical Center on 18 to 29 May 2015. Several data among other, others, were on demographic and job characteristics, clinical, exercise habits, eating habits, and history of the disease. High systolic blood pressure defined as systolic blood pressure 140 mmHg or more. Results: Of the 690 pilots who conduct periodic health examinations, 428 male pilots willing to participate this study. Age and history of hypertension is the dominant risk factor associated with high systolic blood pressure. When compared with the pilot age 19-39 years, 40-65 years old had 15.1-fold greater risk of high systolic blood pressure [odds ratio (adjusted ORa)= 15.12; p= 0.001]. Pilot with a history of hypertension compared to those without a history of having high systolic blood pressure risk 93.2 times larger (ORa= 93.21; p= 0.001). Conclusion: Age of 40-65 years and had history of hypertension increased the riskj of systolic blood pressure among civilian pilot in Indonesia
Does the Crude Palm Oil Market Walk Randomly?
Study about the efficiency of the capital market has been extensively conducted, but it is still lack of research on the efficiency of other financial markets such as commodity markets. This study specifically examines market efficiency in a weak form in a commodity market, especially in the crude palm oil (CPO) market. The purpose of this research is to analyze the weak form efficiency of the CPO market. Data used in this research is monthly CPO closing price data in 2010-2017 from Bursa Malaysia Derivative Exchange (BMD). This data was obtained from the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC). The analysis tool used is Runs Test, following by Unit Root Test and Correlogram as robustness checking. The result of this study shows that the CPO market is being efficient in a weak form. This shows that CPO price walks randomly so that the technical analysis cannot be applied to predict the CPO price. The result of this study suggests to both of CPO traders, and CPO speculators in their transaction on BMD do not rely on technical analysis.JEL Classifications: G14; Q02DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/jkdp.v22i2.202
Marketing Mavens’ Fusion with Social Media
Maven behavior and its fusion with social media was a natural progression from an auspicious beginning. The acknowledgement of market influencers and their impact on consumer behavior emerged in the discipline literature during the 70’s with a study by Sheth (1971) who recognized the marketing opportunity of information disseminators. The potential publicizing influence of these brokers was investigated by Kotler and Zaltman (1976) whose findings advocated for their inclusion within a communication stratagem. Further examination produced precise demographic variables and personality traits along with the more accurate terminology of market mavens (Feick and Price, 1987) to delineate their unique dispositions. Laughlin and MacDonald (2010) recently proposed the identification of online mavens as indispensable, predicated on the significant position they hold in web based purchase behavior. This research explores the idea of social media mavens and determines specific actions most likely to transpire by online market mavens
Differences in Online Social Media Mavens: the Gender Gap
Consumer Behavior experts have acknowledged the significant impact market mavens play in the dissemination and acceptance of new products in the market place. The emergence of online social media mavens has only recently been recognized. Based on traditional patterns of behavior and Internet usage it could be assumed the predictable demographics of the social media maven would be male, young, educated and with an above average income. This study investigated these traditional assumptions and discovered unique differences in online social media mavens. In order to determine potential Social Media Mavens, this research looked beyond usage of social media and instead at who was communicating with others about social media both in the form of recommending and encouraging the usage of social media. Results indicate the gender dominance of males is leveling, signaling the potential of females to drive social media acceptance and usage to ultimately reign as Online Social Media Mavens
