Iteratively Reweighted Least Squares Minimization With Prior Information A New Approach

    Get PDF
Iteratively reweighted least squares (IRLS) algorithms provide an alternative to the more standard 1 l -minimization approach in compressive sensing. Daubechies et al. introduced a particularly stable version of an IRLS algorithm and rigorously proved its convergence in 2010. They did not, however, consider the case in which prior information on the support of the sparse domain of the solution is available. In 2009, Miosso et al. proposed an IRLS algorithm that makes use of this information to further reduce the number of measurements required to recover the solution with specified accuracy. Although Miosso et al. obtained a number of simulation results strongly confirming the utility of their approach, they did not rigorously establish the convergence properties of their algorithm. In this paper, we introduce prior information on the support of the sparse domain of the solution into the algorithm of Daubechies et al. We then provide a rigorous proof of the convergence of the resulting algorithm

On Technology of Hydraulic Engineering Structures Retaining Walls Production

    Get PDF
AbstractThe paper describes the design solution and technology of building retaining walls which belong to a kind of slurry-type wall. Bore pile are used in both the construction designed by the authors and in a slurry-type wall though the difference is that the new technology suggests using recycled steel pipes with timber plates between them. The most important characteristic feature of this retaining wall is that it can resist lateral loading made by ground coats, foundation pit, and all those building and constructions around it. It is easily possible to make such a construction a permanent one

On Technology of Hydraulic Engineering Structures Pile Foundations Production

AbstractThe paper presents aims to provide analysis of non-waste technology of producing piled foundations of hydraulic engineering structures. The authors introduce a complexity of additional technical and technological steps making possible to both diminish the work-load and cut the time required. The paper also describes main stages of the work and points out the main drawbacks of the traditional technology. The authors prove that on condition of proper technique training and experience it is possible to design and produce pile fields characterized by minimal materials consumption thus saving 10-15% of zero circle estimated cost and cutting the time required for construction

Fine structure of the price-demand relationship in the electricity market: multi-scale correlation analysis

    Get PDF
In this research we investigate the problems of dynamic relationship between electricity price and demand over different time scales for two largest price zones of the Russian wholesale electricity market. We use multi-scale correlation analysis based on a modified method of time-dependent intrinsic correlation and the complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise for this purpose. Three hypotheses on the type and strength of correlations in the short-, medium- and long-runs were tested. It is shown that price zones significantly differ in internal price–demand correlation structure over the comparable time scales, and not each of the theoretically formulated hypotheses is true for each of them. We can conclude that the answer to the question whether it is necessary to take into account the influence of demand-side on electricity spot prices over different time scales, is significantly dependent on the structure of electricity generation and consumption on the corresponding market

This research was funded by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (No. BR11765580). The research of the team from Latvia (A.M., V.P. and A.I.P.) has been carried out within the framework of the EUROfusion Consortium, funded by the European Union via the Euratom Research and Training Programme (Grant Agreement No. 101052200—EUROfusion). During the phase composition analysis of the studied ceramics using the X-ray diffraction method, it was found that an increase in the lithium component during synthesis leads to the formation of an additional orthorhombic Li2SiO3 phase, and the main phase in ceramics is the monoclinic Li4SiO4 phase. An analysis of the morphological features of the synthesized ceramics showed that an increase in the Li2SiO3 impurity phase leads to ceramic densification and the formation of impurity grains near grain boundaries and joints. During determination of the strength characteristics of the studied ceramics, a positive effect of an increase in the Li2SiO3 impurity phase and dimensional factors on the strengthening and increase in the resistance to external influences during compression of ceramics was established. During tests for resistance to long-term thermal heating, it was found that for two-phase ceramics, the decrease in strength and thermophysical characteristics after 500 h of annealing was less than 5%, which indicates a high resistance and stability of these ceramics in comparison with single-phase orthosilicate ceramics. © 2022 by the authors. --//-- This is an open access article Kozlovskiy A., Shlimas D.I., Zdorovets M.V., Moskina A., Pankratov V., Popov A.I.
