    The linear span of projections in AH algebras and for inclusions of C*-algebras

    A CC^*-algebra is said to have the LP property if the linear span of projections is dense in a given algebra. In the first part of this paper, we show that an AH algebra A=lim(Ai,ϕi)A = \underrightarrow{\lim}(A_i,\phi_i) has the LP property if and only if every real-valued continuous function on the spectrum of AiA_i (as an element of AiA_i via the non-unital embedding) belongs to the closure of the linear span of projections in AA. As a consequence, a diagonal AH-algebra has the LP property if it has small eigenvalue variation. The second contribution of this paper is that for an inclusion of unital CC^*-algebras PAP \subset A with a finite Watatani Index, if a faithful conditional expectation E ⁣:APE\colon A \rightarrow P has the Rokhlin property in the sense of Osaka and Teruya, then PP has the LP property under the condition AA has the LP property. As an application, let AA be a simple unital CC^*-algebra with the LP property, GG a finite group and α\alpha an action of GG onto Aut(A)\mathrm{Aut}(A). If α\alpha has the Rokhlin property in the sense of Izumi, then the fixed point algebra AGA^G and the crossed product algebra AαGA \rtimes_\alpha G have the LP property. We also point out that there is a symmetry on CAR algebra, which is constructed by Elliott, such that its fixed point algebra does not have the LP property.Comment: 24 page

    Piezoresistive effect of p-type single crystalline 3C-SiC on (111) plane

    This paper presents for the first time the effect of strain on the electrical conductivity of p-type single crystalline 3C-SiC grown on a Si (111) substrate. 3C-SiC thin film was epitaxially formed on a Si (111) substrate using the low pressure chemical vapor deposition process. The piezoresistive effect of the grown film was investigated using the bending beam method. The average longitudinal gauge factor of the p-type single crystalline 3C-SiC was found to be around 11 and isotropic in the (111) plane. This gauge factor is 3 times smaller than that in a p-type 3C-SiC (100) plane. This reduction of the gauge factor was attributed to the high density of defects in the grown 3C-SiC (111) film. Nevertheless, the gauge factor of the p-type 3C-SiC (111) film is still approximately 5 times higher than that in most metals, indicating its potential for niche mechanical sensing applications

    The global movement towards lower carbon economies and distributed energy requires the realisation of improved energy generation methods. Tri-generation is a method of optimising the thermal efficiency of energy generation through waste heat recapturing and can simultaneously provide heating, cooling and electrical output to meet building energy demands. A meta-analysis was conducted to analyse the performance of various prime movers utilised in tri-generation applications. Through this study it was determined that the efficiency of tri-generation and combined cycles can be optimised through a hybridisation of prime movers

    224pThis chapter provides the analysis and evaluation of compost utilization for agricultural production in Thai Binh province, Vietnam, as well as the database for simulating future possibilities of the usage of pig effluence through provincial orientations for livestock development up to 2010 in Thai Binh province. Requirement of organic fertilizer in agricultural production is major absorption banks of waste from livestock components and human ejection that includes rice-based system and annual crops, fruit trees and aquaculture system. Details of the capacity of absorption of each component which depends on soil characteristics, crops' demand, season cropping and farming management techniques by farmers, are provided. Field survey results clearly indicated that agriculture in Thai Binh has facing with the shortage of organic fertilizer and imbalance nutrient in production

    The study indicated impact of microfinance activities with Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) to community’s social capital development. Based on the responds of 356 members have been participating in the VSLAs (questionnaire and in-depth interviews), there has been a progression in social capital regarding members’ relationships proving the changes in members and their social relationship as well as the trust among them after joining the VSLAs. One of the unique and significant findings was the different ways and levels of trust among the members. The important of this finding is it emphasized how the social impact can effectively benefit the subjects of social welfare policies.     An Analysis of Value Chain in the Vietnam Construction Industry

    A value chain in construction industry is implemented to ensure that a construction project is successful from the planning stages, all the way to the completed and approved building. Therefore, it is important to utilize a construction value chain because it ensures that the project delivers the maximum value for the least amount of capital. However, value chain analysis in the construction industry is little understood. The present study aims to analyze the status quo for the construction value chain in Vietnam. The findings indicated that there are three primary parts of the Vietnam construction value chain. The analysis results indicated that there are three primary parts of the Vietnam construction value chain which includes: (1) input factors (i.e., labors, materials, and machines); (2) construction processes (i.e., design, bidding, foundation construction, structural construction, and finishing works); (3) construction markets (i.e., civil construction market, industrial construction, infrastructure construction). The outcomes illustrated a comprehensive picture in the Vietnam construction value chain and build a strong platform to implement better appropriate tasks towards improving sustainable competitive advantages in the construction industry
