    SPEECH CONTROLLED ROBOCAR

    Get PDF
The main goal of this paper is to introduce “hearing” sensor and also the speech synthesis to the robotic car such that it is capable to interact with human through Spoken Natural Language (NL). Speech recognition (SR) is a prominent technology, which helps us to introduce “hearing” as well as Natural Language (NL) interface through Speech for the interaction. The most challenging part of the entire system is designing and interfacing various stages together. Our approach was to get the analog voice signal being digitized. The frequency and pitch of words be stored in a memory. These stored words will be used for matching with the words spoken. When the match is found, the system outputs the address of stored words. Hence we have to decode the address and according to the address sensed, the car will perform the required task. Since we wanted the car to be wireless, we used RF module. The address was decoded using microcontroller (DSPIC30F) and then applied to RF module. This together with driver circuit at receivers end made complete intelligent systems

WATER QUALITY ANALYSIS: A CASE STUDY IN BYRAMANGALA LAKE WATER AND SURROUNDING GROUND WATER

A study was carried out to find out the water quality of Byramangala lake of Ramanagara district. The water quality of Byramangala lake water and ground water from bore wells situated in the area within 600 meters surrounding the lake was analyzed. The quality analysis of various parameters such as BODs, COD, DO, E-Coli, and pH, Total Dissolved Solids, Total Suspended Solids and Total Hardness were tested. In addition, the presence of metals such as Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Lead (Pb), and Iron (Fe) in the lake water and ground water samples were tested. Results for the various tests conducted showed similar trends for both lake water and ground water. It was observed that certain parameters such as BOD5, and COD were beyond permissible limits as per the BIS standards for drinking water. A few remedial measures have been proposed that may help in mitigating the pollution in the selected project area Byramangala Lake

Kinetics and mechanism of the oxidation of some <img src='/image/spc_char/alpha.gif' border=0> -amino acids by benzyltrimethylammonium tribromide

    No full text
1909-1914The oxidation of nine -amino acids by benzyltrimethylammonium tribromide (BTMAB), in aqueous acetic acid, leads to the formation of the corresponding aldehydes. The reaction is first order with respect to BTMAB. Michaelis-Menten type kinetics are observed with respect to the amino acids. The thermodynamic parameters for the complex formation and the activation parameters for the decomposition of complex have been determined. An addition of benzyltrimethylammonium ion does not affect the rate. The oxidation of perdeuterioglycine shows the absence of a kinetic isotope effect (kH/kD = 1.05 at 313 K). The effect of solvent composition indicates that the reaction rate increases with an increase in the polarity of the medium. The reaction is susceptible to both polar and steric effects of the substituents. Suitable mechanism has been proposed

Granuloma annulare on the palms: A clinicopathological study of seven cases

    No full text
Background : Granuloma annulare (GA), a common dermatological condition of unknown etiology, affecting all ages. Involvement of the palms appears rare, posing a diagnostic challenge. This study was conducted to document various clinical and histopathological features of GA on the palms. Aims: To study clinical and histopathological variations in granuloma annulare on palms. Methods : A total 7 patients from our outpatient department with lesions of GA, exclusively on the palms, were studied over a period of 6 months from March 2011 to August 2011. Total of 8 biopsies were studied. In each patient, diagnosis was made on clinico-pathological correlation. Various clinical and histopathological features were analyzed. Results: An average age of onset was 47 years, male: female ratio was 1.33: 1, and average disease duration was 9 months. Pain was the most common symptom. Clinically, the most common presentation was pseudovesicles. Histologically, both classic palisading and interstitial pattern were seen. Perineural granulomas, perieccrine granulomas, elastophagocytosis were seen additionally. In 5 out of 7 patients, diagnosis was missed clinically. Conclusion: GA on palms poses a diagnostic challenge due to variable presentations. Histopathology is of vital importance for correct diagnosis and treatment. GA should be considered in differential diagnosis of papular lesions on palms

Ichthyosis associated with rickets in two Indian children

We wish to report two cases of rickets due to vitamin D deficiency secondary to underlying ichthyotic skin disorder. The first case is of an 8-year-old male with history of multiple fluid-filled lesions over the body that would rupture to heal with thickening and scaling of skin, suggestive of epidermolytic hyperkeratosis, and the second is of a 14-year-old female with thick, large, quadrilateral scales over the extremities and back clinically consistent with lamellar ichthyosis. Both showed improvement with parenteral vitamin D3 and oral calcium supplements in addition to topical emollients

Diagnostic and Socio-economic Analysis of Bhimsagar Irrigation Scheme

Faulty operation and poor upkeep of irrigation infrastructures have caused low irrigation efficiency inmany major and medium schemes globally. Low performance is mainly caused due to poor physicalcondition and low maintenance. This study was done to carry out the diagnostic and socio-economic analysisof the Bhimsagar irrigation scheme. In the diagnostic analysis, operational problems in the entire canalnetwork of Bhimsagar irrigation project were assessed by conducting several field surveys and by holdingfarmers meeting. As agriculture developmental schemes in any area cause changes in the economic conditionof farmers. The socio-economic survey was undertaken on total of 600 families engaged in agriculture andcovering 3118 persons/farmers in the scheme’s entire command area. Results revealed that water deliveryand distribution system is not satisfactory. Head reach farmers utilize more water than the middle and tailend section without considering the actual crop water demand. Overall, irrigation efficiency was 27 %,emphasizing that current operational and maintenance policies should be changed to improve systemsperformance. Agriculture is the primary income source of people, and their living standard is inadequate.New technology adoption is rare due to poor education and knowledge on recent developments in agriculturetechnologies.Godkänd;2021;Nivå 0;2021-12-21 (johcin)</p
