Pettis integrability of fuzzy mappings with values in arbitrary Banach spaces
In this paper we study the Pettis integral of fuzzy mappings in arbitrary
Banach spaces. We present some properties of the Pettis integral of fuzzy
mappings and we give conditions under which a scalarly integrable fuzzy mapping
is Pettis integrable
The expression "Les rhétoriques de la concorde", is the
consequence of a precise choice: assigning a political function to the
epideictic genre. This choice can be opposed to legitimate criticism, given
that the ancient sources present the epidemic discourses as discourses on circumstance that
revolve around the praise and the blame. The idea of a political function
of the epidemic type is based on an interpretation initially proposed by
Perelman and Olbrechts-Tyteca. Starting from this - and in the light of the contributions that the editors collect - the authors reason about the inseparable epidictic/political link
Nonlinear double Compton scattering in the full quantum regime
A detailed analysis of the process of two photon emission by an electron
scattered from a high-intensity laser pulse is presented. The calculations are
performed in the framework of strong-field QED and include exactly the presence
of the laser field, described as a plane wave. We investigate the full quantum
regime of interaction, where photon recoil plays an essential role in the
emission process, and substantially alters the emitted photon spectra as
compared to those in previously-studied regimes. We provide a semiclassical
explanation for such differences, based on the possibility of assigning a
trajectory to the electron in the laser field before and after each quantum
photon emission. Our numerical results indicate the feasibility of
investigating experimentally the full quantum regime of nonlinear double
Compton scattering with already available plasma-based electron accelerator and
laser technology.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
Pair production in a strong slowly varying magnetic field: the effect of a background gravitational field
The production probability of an pair in the presence of a strong,
uniform and slowly varying magnetic field is calculated by taking into account
the presence of a background gravitational field. The curvature of the
spacetime metric induced by the gravitational field not only changes the
transition probabilities calculated in the Minkowski spacetime but also primes
transitions that are strictly forbidden in absence of the gravitational field.Comment: 56 pages, no figure
Radiation Reaction Effects on Electron Nonlinear Dynamics and Ion Acceleration in Laser-solid Interaction
Radiation Reaction (RR) effects in the interaction of an ultra-intense laser
pulse with a thin plasma foil are investigated analytically and by
two-dimensional (2D3P) Particle-In-Cell (PIC) simulations. It is found that the
radiation reaction force leads to a significant electron cooling and to an
increased spatial bunching of both electrons and ions. A fully relativistic
kinetic equation including RR effects is discussed and it is shown that RR
leads to a contraction of the available phase space volume. The results of our
PIC simulations are in qualitative agreement with the predictions of the
kinetic theory
Troponina e infarto periprocedurale: filo di Arianna o folle volo di Icaro?
Percutaneous coronary interventions cause frequently an increase in myocardial necrosis markers. Is troponin elevation after percutaneous coronary intervention a predictor of events at follow-up or a consequence of the procedure with no cause-effect relationship with prognosis? The debate is still ope
Stimulated vacuum emission and photon absorption in strong electromagnetic fields
According to quantum electrodynamics (QED), a strong external field can make the vacuum state decay producing electron-positron pairs. Here we investigate emission of soft photons which accompanies a nonperturbative process of pair production. Our analysis is carried out within the Furry picture to first order in the fine-structure constant. It is shown that the presence of photons in the initial state gives rise to an additional (stimulated) channel of photon emission besides the pure vacuum one. On the other hand, the number of final (signal) photons includes also a negative contribution due to photon absorption within the pair production process. These contributions are evaluated and compared. To obtain quantitative predictions in the domain of realistic field parameters, we employ the WKB approach. We propose to use an optical probe photon beam, whose intensity changes as it traverses a spatial region where a strong electric component of a background laser field is present. It is demonstrated that relative intensity changes on the level of can be experimentally observed once the intensity of the strong background field exceeds within a large laser wavelength interval. This finding is expected to significantly support possible experimental investigations of nonlinear QED phenomena in the nonperturbative regime
Costruire apprendimento e partecipazione a scuola: da studenti unteachables a comunità di motivated learners
Education of the future is a central theme in many debates nowadays. This paper focuses on the question what knowledge and skills are most relevant to prepare students for a rapidly changing society and if schools are able to respond effectively to costant transformation driven by technological innovation. While the school systemis involved in a modification process that concerns its core contents, new “wired” generations of students from lower secondary education are labelled as difficult to teach or even “unteachables”, students who are losing interest in academic learning, who are not motivated or responsible for their learning processes. The contribution examines the activities of an ongoing Erasmus+ research project - Unteachables. Helping the new generations of school teachers turn increasingly unteachable young students into young Learnables -, which involves school students (aged 12-16), university master students, in-training teachers and university researchers from seven European countries, aimed at experimenting teacher training activities designed to involve students in creating communities of motivated learners. This paper, profiling unteachables students, highlights the need of innovative teaching methods that can enhance motivation and participation of students
Low field magnetotransport in strained Si/SiGe cavities
Low field magnetotransport revealing signatures of ballistic transport
effects in strained Si/SiGe cavities is investigated. We fabricated strained
Si/SiGe cavities by confining a high mobility Si/SiGe 2DEG in a bended nanowire
geometry defined by electron-beam lithography and reactive ion etching. The
main features observed in the low temperature magnetoresistance curves are the
presence of a zero-field magnetoresistance peak and of an oscillatory structure
at low fields. By adopting a simple geometrical model we explain the
oscillatory structure in terms of electron magnetic focusing. A detailed
examination of the zero-field peak lineshape clearly shows deviations from the
predictions of ballistic weak localization theory.Comment: Submitted to Physical Review B, 25 pages, 7 figure
