Cfd Of Double-Wedge Spiked Intake Of The Supersonic Jet Engine

    Get PDF
Intake of the Supersonic Jet Engine requires the highest possible total pressure recovery and minimal total pressure lost in order to obtain an efficient operation. The supersonic intake is mainly affected by two substantial factors which is the geometry of the spike (double-wedge) and the angle of attack. The solution is quite direct at zero angle of attack, but at non zero angle of attack, the shock system structure will be affected and the flow distribution will be unsymmetrical in the upper (leeside) and the lower side (windward side) of the inlet. The objective of this work is to model mathematically the double-wedge spiked intake of the supersonic jet engine. The analysis will be carried out using the assumptions that the flow is viscous, steady and 2-dimensional compressible fluid flow. The whole system will be simulated and analysed numerically using CFD softwares. The available FLUENT and GAMBIT software in the department will be used for the modelling simulation. Finally this model will be used to investigate the flow characteristics at various design and operational conditions. In conclusion, the study of on the combined effect of the double-wedged spike and angle of attack is crucial as it affects the performance of the compressor, which then affects the performance of the jet engine

Steady flow of power-law fluids in a 1:3 planar sudden expansion

The laminar flow of inelastic non-Newtonian fluids, obeying the power-law model, through a planar sudden expansion with a 1:3 expansion ratio was investigated numerically using a finite volume method. A broad range of power-law indices in the range 0.2 n 4 was considered. Shear-thinning, Newtonian and shear-thickening fluids are analyzed, with particular emphasis on the flow patterns and bifurcation phenomenon occurring at high Reynolds number laminar flows. The effect of the generalized Reynolds numbers (based on power-law index, n, and the in flow channel height, h) on the main vortex characteristics and Couette correction are examined in detail in the range varying from 0.01 Regen 600. Values for the critical generalized Reynolds number for the onset of steady flow asymmetry and the appearance of a third main vortex are also included. We found that the shear-thinning behavior increases the critical Regen, while shear-thickening has the opposite effect. Comparison with available literature and with predictions using a commercial software (FluentR 6.3.26) are also presented and discussed. It was found that both results are in good agreement, but that our code is able to achieve converged solution for a broader range of flow conditions, providing new benchmark quality data

VR-CHEM Developing a virtual reality interface for molecular modelling

    Get PDF
VR-CHEM is a prototype for a virtual reality molecular modelling program with a modern 3D user interface. In this thesis, the author discusses the research behind the development of the prototype, provides a detailed description of the program and its features, and reports on the user tests. The research includes reviewing previous programs of a similar category that have appeared in studies in the literature. Some of these are related to chemistry and molecular modelling while others focus on 3D input techniques. Consequently, the prototype contributes by exploring the design of the user interface and how it can affect productivity in this category of programs. The prototype is subjected to a pilot user test to evaluate what further developments are required. Based on this, the thesis proposes that 3D interfaces, while capable of several unique tasks, are yet to overcome some significant drawbacks such as limitations in accuracy and precision. It also suggests that virtual reality can aid in spatial understanding but virtual hands and controllers are far inferior to real hands for even basic tasks due to a lack of tactile feedback

Caste War and the Indian Church

    Get PDF
The violent and persistent caste discrimination in India is nothing short of caste war. As destructive to the lives of those in the lowest caste, the Dalits, as international war, caste discrimination must be mediated through peace-making. Peace-making is a necessary step that Christianity can offer to the realities of caste division in India. Acknowledging that Christianity itself has been wrapped up in colonization and caste distinction, this paper ultimately argues that Christians are still called to be an agent for change in India

Hindu Nationalism and Indian Christian Response!

    Get PDF
Indian democracy is fast recast as Hindu nationalism which neither honors the country’s constitutional secularity nor upholds its tradition of diversity (religious, cultural, and linguistic), inclusivity, and pluralism. The forged uniformity avowedly seeks to construct the “one” India - one religion (Hindu), one culture (Hindu), and one language (Hindi). Falsely representing a Hinduism under attack from ‘invader’ religions, nationalist ideologues arouse the base emotions of the unsuspecting majoritarian community and stoke their fears against the minorities, particularly Christians. Conscientious challenging of such imposed homogeneity is met with charges of sedition and profiling as anti-national foreign stooge. At this critical juncture, various historical, theological, and contextual factors necessitate Indian Church’s political response through representation in parliament and state legislatures and entering the bureaucracy, not just to counter the systemic spread of the hegemonic ideology but also to safeguard her identity, particularity, rights, and freedom

    Psychology in Folk Lamentation Songs

    Get PDF
Folk songs are songs sung by folk. Folk songs are intertwined with the life of the folk. Events from man's birth to death become the subject of folk song. Folk songs are the true expressions of the mind of the people. Folk songs are called folk song, nomadic song, natara song, oral song, layman song, family song, village song, kalladar song, people's song, Malaiaruvi, wild flowers, and so on. It will be useful to note the relevance of the names thus given. Lamentation Song is about the woman lamenting her loneliness and helplessness. The most unbearable loss for a woman in this world is the loss of her parents, her husband and her son, whom she depended on. When we examine the words which she utters we get to know about the psychological habits of the society when examining the words
