Micronutrient Intake and Fundal Height Determine Birth Weight

The birth weight (BW) are utilized as indicators of the healthy and term newborns. Factor that affects the weight of a newborn are micronutrient intake and fundal height. Folic acid and iron (Fe) were associated with newborn birth weight. Fundal height in centimeters (cm) is the same as the gestational age of the week, the fundal height that is not in accordance with the gestational age is leading to stunted fetal growth. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between intake of folic acid, iron (Fe) and fundal height with newborn birth weight. This research method was an analytic observational using a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study were 114 pregnant women living in Yogyakarta. Statistical test results proved a significant relationship between the intake of folic acid and iron (Fe) with the newborn birth weight (p < 0.05). There was a significant relationship between the fundal height with the newborn birth weight (p < 0.05). The concludes of this study, pregnant women with adequate folic acid intake, adequate iron intake and normal fundal height tended to give birth newborns with normal birth weight

Comparative Study of Milk Production and Feed Efficiency Based on Farmers Best Practices and National Research Council

This study aimed to compare local dairy farmer ration formula with national research council in producing higher feed efficiency and milk production. This study had two stages. The first stage was in vitro study of dairy farmer rations which have different raw materials (R3, R4, and R5) with NRC based ration (R2) and Demo Farm ration (R1). The variables measured in this stage were proximate composition, volatile fatty acid, ammonia, dry matter and organic matter digestibility. The first stage used a randomized block design with five treatments, three groups of ruminal fluid, and three replications. The second stage used nine lactating cows with three periods of lactation (one, three, and other) and used a randomized block design with three treatments, three groups, and one replication. Parameters measured were dry matter intake, manure score, milk production, body weight gain, body condition score, and technical and economical efficiencies. The first stage result showed that R1, R2, and R3 were three best rations in nutrient composition and fermentability (ammonia and volatile fatty acid concentrations were optimum for microbial growth and high digestibility), so in conclusion those three rations were the best rations and should be compared by in vivo method. The result of the second stage showed that all tested rations were not significantly different in milk production, performance and efficiency, so in conclusion those three rations have the same quality

ADA APA DENGAN UNDANG-UNDANG BAHASA? MENILIK PENGGUNAAN UU NOMOR 24/2009 DARI KACAMATA HUKUM SERTA PENDIDIKAN DAN BUDAYA

Tulisan ini mengangkat peraturan yang berhungan dengan konteks global karena terkait dengan diplomasi yang secara tidak langsung berhubungan dengan pihak luar (asing). Undang-undang nomor 24 yang sudah dicanangkan pada tahun 2009 memperlihatkan keterkaitannya dengan berbagai bidang, di antaranya seperti: pendidikan, budaya, dan hukum. Berbagai masalah terkait ketiga bidang tersebut diatur dalam undang-undang yang sudah diamanatkan oleh Presiden. Tujuan tulisan ini untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan UU No 24/2009 dari kacamata pendidikan dan budaya serta hukum dan menjelaskan peran bahasa Indonesia sebagai identitas bangsa Indonesia melalui jalan diplomasi dengan pihak asing. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah grounded theory. Ada beberapa temuan yang didapat dari kajian tersebut. Dalam bidang pendidikan dan sosial budaya, seperti penggunaan bahasa Indonesia dalam pengajaran bahasa Indonesia di luar negeri sangat diutamakan sebagaimana yang tertuang dalam pasal 44, UU No.24/2009. Penginternasionalisasian bahasa Indonesia dapat terwujud dalam penyebarluasan pengajaran bahasa Indonesia di luar negara, peningkatan jumlah kosakata, pengembangan UKBI yanga akan menyertai pengujian di Indonesia, dan penyusunan kamus ASEAN. Sementara itu, dalam bidang hukum ada temuan terkait kasus pembatalan kontrak bisnis internasional karena tidak mengindahkan penggunaan bahasa Indonesia. Namun berdasarkan temuan tersebut, pasal 31 UU 24/2009 hanya dipandang sebagai tameng bila pebisnis sudah diambang kekalahan dalam menjalankan bisnis

Pengaruh Penggunaan Media Pembelajaran Poster Terhadap Kemampuan Menulis Puisi Oleh Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Rantau Utara Tahun Pembelajaran 2012/2013

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pengaruh media pembelajaran poster terhadap kemampuan menulis puisi oleh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Rantau Utara.Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Rantau Utara tahun pembelajaran 2012/2013 yang berjumlah 213 orang.Data penelitian ini sebagai sampel penelitian. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimen dengan model one group pretes postes design. Dari pengolahan data diperoleh hasil pretes dengan rata-rata 63.07, standar deviasi 6.23, dengan berkategori baik 13.33% dan berkategori cukup 80%; Sedangkan hasil postes di peroleh rata-rata 71.77, standar deviasi 7.61, dengan berkategori sangat baik 6.67%, berkategori baik 63.33%, dan berkategori cukup 30%. Dari uji homogenitas didapat bahwa sampel penelitian ini berasal dari populasi yang homogen. Setelah uji normalitas dan homogenitas, didapatlah to sebesar 4.78; setelah to diketahui, kemudian dikonsultasikan dengan ttabel pada taraf signifikasi 5% dengan dk = (N1 + N2) – 2 = (30+30) – 2 = 58, dari df= 29 diperoleh taraf signifikan 5% = 2.01 dan taraf signifikan 1% = 2.68. karena to yang diperoleh lebih besar dari ttabel yaitu 4.78>2.01, hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Berdasarkan analisis data di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media poster berpengaruh secara posistif dan signifikan terhadap kemampuan menulis puisi oleh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Rantau Utara Tahun Pembelajaran 2012/2013
