    This research studied the growth, quantity and quality of ginger rhizome under drought stress condition. The drought stress condition was 60% of soil field capacity. This experiment was arranged in randomized complete block designed. The treatments were drought stress periods (6, 4, 2 and 0 week before harvesting) with six replications. The result showed that drought stress period affected the quantity (rhizome dry weight) and quality (gingerol content) of ginger. Rhizome dry weight was decreased with the increase of drought stress period, while gingerol content showed opposite trend

    Pengaruh Radiasi Sinar Gamma Terhadap Kultur in Vitro Tanaman Jahe

    In vitro shoot explants of white ginger and red ginger are irradiated by two different techniques. The first, the tuber explants are irradiated by 2 levels of gamma rays namely 10 and 30 Gy. The second, the shoot explants are irradiated by 2 levels of gamma rays namely 7,5 and 12,5 Gy. The irradiated explants are regenerated on modified MS medium with BAP 2 ppm and NAA 0,25 ppm. The result show that the irradiated tuber explants with 10 and 30 Gy could not initiate new regenerant of ginger. On the other hand the irradiated shoot explants with 7,5 and 12,5 Gy have been able to influence the growth and development of shoot, leaf and root. It is indicated that the level of gamma rays irradiation on shoot explants influences the induced putative mutant of ginger. However, the sprouting of red ginger on 12,5 Gy is higher and faster than 7,5 Gy, and white ginger as well as control. The other morphological characters have not been able to be identified, the experiment are still in process to detect the mutagenic influences

    PT PLN (Persero) is a state owned which manages the biggest electricity businesses that cover the entire territory of Indonesia. His position is very potential for the Indonesian public life requires that PLN is able to manage the investment means the supply of electricity to customers. This is done with the information systems that support business processes in the body of PLN. PT PLN (Persero) has some application systems, infrastructure, service, and management used to increase the ability of the company. In PLN, there is an application that is capable of supporting PLN to conduct the procurement process is procurement information system (e-procurement). PSI Sub-party service providers as e-procurement to see investment information system (SI) and Information Technology (IT) which is proportional to the amount issued benefits and bottom-line impact for companies and can find out the level of funds / investment budgets and alignment of Information Technology there is a project in accordance with company requirements. Those needs based on business needs and applications currently running in the intersection so as to project better. Based on this, the author proposes to analyze the benefits of information technology investments by using the method of New Information Economics (NIE) that combines the two approaches both financial and non-financial. In the method NIE (New Information Economics) will be used four of the five practices that NIE Strategic Demand / Supply Planning, Innovation, Prioritization, and Alignment. The results are expected to help the company to allocate investments SI / IT is more appropriate and supports the company\u27s performance, especially in providing added value to the parties concerned

    Children are the next generation of the nation, therefore it is the obligation of all parties, especially the state, to prepare and protect their future so that regeneration can run well. When a child commits a crime, child delinquency can no longer be seen as ordinary delinquency. Many children commit acts that are classified as criminal acts, such as: stealing, carrying sharp weapons, getting into fights, being involved in drug use, and so on. This requires serious attention from both the government, parents and society. This research method is survey research with techniques using library research material collection techniques. Besides that, the author also conducted field research by conducting direct research through interviews with officers at the Manado Class I Correctional Hall, the police, the prosecutors, and the judges in the North Sulawesi Region. The results of this study show how the process of diversion mediation at the level of the police, the prosecutors, and the judges. In addition, it discusses the role of the social counselor at the Manado Class I Correctional Hall as a mediator in the implementation of diversion mediation in the North Sulawesi region in accordance with Law of The Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2012 on the Juvenile Criminal Justice System

    Rancang Bangun Modulator BPSK Untuk Komunikasi Citra Pada ITS-Sat

    ITS-Sat merupakan satelit yang dirancang dan dibuat oleh mahasiswa Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). Salah satu subsistem payload satelit tersebut adalah modulator BPSK yang digunakan untuk pengiriman citra pada lintasan downlink dengan frekuensi downlink 2,4 GHz. Tugas Akhir ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengimplementasikan modulator BPSK yang bekerja pada frekuensi IF (Intermediate Frequency) dengan frekuensi 70 MHz dan baud rate 19200 baud. Modulator BPSK yang telah diimplementasikan memiliki dimensi 5 cm x 3,7 cm. Hasil pengujian dan pengukuran perangkat menunjukkan bahwa modulator BPSK mampu bekerja dengan kecepatan transmisi data 19200 baud pada frekuensi IF 70 MHz. Hasil ini sesuai dengan spesifikasi yang dibutuhkan sebagai modulator BPSK pada payload satelit ITS-Sat

    Geomorphological Mapping for Land Suitability Evaluation

    Geomorphology affects the potential of land. The geomorphological condition of an area has implications for physical characteristics, including: 1) type; 2) material; and 3) processes formed upon it. Understanding land capability allows for the evaluation of land suitability. Classification of land suitability is carried out by combining the results of land capability identification with requirements for plant growth or existing land use. Evaluation of land suitability can be done using the survey method. This study aimed to assess the suitability of land in Sumbersuko Village in Wagir District, Malang Regency. Land suitability was evaluated by matching the characteristics of the land with the land suitability class. This study used primary data taken from the regional morphology survey. Secondary data included: 1) digital elevation model data; 2) geological maps; 3) maps of soil types; and 4) Sentinel-2A images. The data from the field survey were then compiled using a geographic information system into maps using 2D and 3D modeling. The results of GIS analysis showed that Sumbersuko Village has six landform units, namely M1V1, M1V2, H2V2, U2V2, P2V2, and M3V3. Analysis of land capability and suitability of the six land units in a row gave the following results: 1) forest (highly suitable/S1); 2) forest and industry (suitable/S2); 3) plantation/agrotourism (moderately suitable /S3); 4) agriculture (not suitable/N); 5) residential area (less suitable/S3) S4); and 6) forest (highly suitable/S1).     Induction of Endothelial Cell Apoptosis by Solid Tumor Cells

    The mechanisms by which tumor cells extravasate to form metastasis remain controversial. Previous studies performed in vivo and in vitro demonstrate that the contact between tumor cells and the vascular wall impairs endothelium integrity. Here, we investigated the effect of breast adenocarcinoma MCF-7 cells on the apoptosis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). TUNEL labeling, nuclear morphology, and DNA electrophoresis indicated that MCF-7 cells induced a two- to fourfold increase in HUVEC apoptosis. Caspase-3 activity was significantly enhanced. Neither normal cells tested (mammary epithelial cells, fibroblasts, leukocytes) nor transformed hematopoietic cells tested (HL60, Jurkat) induced HUVEC apoptosis. On the contrary, cells derived from solid tumors (breast adenocarcinoma, MDA-MB-231 and T47D; fibrosarcoma, HT 1080) had an effect similar to that of MCF-7 cells. The induction of apoptosis requires cell-to-cell contact, since it could not be reproduced by media conditioned by MCF-7 cells cultured alone or cocultured with HUVEC. Our results suggest that cells derived from solid tumors may alter the endothelium integrity by inducing endothelial cell apoptosis. On the contrary, normal or malignant leukocytes appear to extravasate by distinct mechanisms and do not damage the endothelium. Our data may lead to a better understanding of the steps involved in tumor cell extravasation

    Matrix and serine protease expression during leukemic cell differentiation induced by aclacinomycin and all-trans-retinoic acid

    In myeloid leukemia, immature leukemic cells are able to egress into peripheral blood to infiltrate extra-medullary organs. We therefore analyzed the migrating and invasive potential of human HL-60 and NB4 cell lines, representative of acute myelogenous leukemia, their ability to express matrix metalloproteases (MMPs), tissue inhibitors of metalloproteases (TIMPs) and urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) in response to differentiating agents. Granulocytic differentiation by all-trans-retinoic acid (ATRA) and aclacinomycin (ACLA) strongly increased HL-60 and NB4 cell migration and invasion. At mRNA and protein levels, these cell lines produced significant amounts of MMP-9 (HL-60 < NB4). Granulocytic differentiation by ACLA increased both pro and active forms of MMP-9 whereas ATRA decreased them and stimulated uPA mRNAs. TIMP-1, the physiological MMP inhibitor, increased during granulocytic differentiation whereas TIMP-2 did not significantly vary. Use of Batimastat and aprotinin suggests that ATRA was active by modulating the uPA system while ACLA interfered with MMP expression. In conclusion, our data demonstrate that HL-60 and NB4 cells express MMPs and uPA which are differentially regulated by the differentiating agents ATRA and ACLA and suggest the clinical usefulness of MMPs and serine protease inhibitors in the prophylaxis and treatment of the ATRA syndrome.
