Uniaxially strained (011)Si is attractive for high performance p-channel metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor devices due to the predicted high hole mobilities. Here, we demonstrate the realization of purely uniaxially relaxed (011) SiGe virtual substrates by He+ ion implantation and thermal annealing. Perfect uniaxial relaxation is evidenced by precise ion channeling angular yield scan measurements and plan view transmission electron microscopy as predicted theoretically on the basis of the layer symmetry dependent dislocation dynamics. Strikingly, misfit dislocations propagate exclusively along the [0 (1) over bar1] direction in the (011) oriented crystal and, in contrast to (100)Si, no crosshatch is formed. We describe dislocation formation and propagation inducing strain relaxation of (011)SiGe and enlighten the differences to (100) oriented SiGe on Si
A Cylindrical GEM Inner Tracker for the BESIII experiment at IHEP
The Beijing Electron Spectrometer III (BESIII) is a multipurpose detector
that collects data provided by the collision in the Beijing Electron Positron
Collider II (BEPCII), hosted at the Institute of High Energy Physics of
Beijing. Since the beginning of its operation, BESIII has collected the world
largest sample of J/{\psi} and {\psi}(2s). Due to the increase of the
luminosity up to its nominal value of 10^33 cm-2 s-1 and aging effect, the MDC
decreases its efficiency in the first layers up to 35% with respect to the
value in 2014. Since BESIII has to take data up to 2022 with the chance to
continue up to 2027, the Italian collaboration proposed to replace the inner
part of the MDC with three independent layers of Cylindrical triple-GEM (CGEM).
The CGEM-IT project will deploy several new features and innovation with
respect the other current GEM based detector: the {\mu}TPC and analog readout,
with time and charge measurements will allow to reach the 130 {\mu}m spatial
resolution in 1 T magnetic field requested by the BESIII collaboration. In this
proceeding, an update of the status of the project will be presented, with a
particular focus on the results with planar and cylindrical prototypes with
test beams data. These results are beyond the state of the art for GEM
technology in magnetic field
Deep sub-threshold production in Ar+KCl reactions at 1.76A GeV
We report first results on a deep sub-threshold production of the doubly
strange hyperon in a heavy-ion reaction. At a beam energy of 1.76A GeV
the reaction Ar+KCl was studied with the High Acceptance Di-Electron
Spectrometer (HADES) at SIS18/GSI. A high-statistics and high-purity
sample was collected, allowing for the investigation of the decay channel
. The deduced production
ratio of is significantly larger
than available model predictions.Comment: 4 pages, including 4 figure
Study of the quasi-free reaction with a deuterium beam at 1.25 GeV/nucleon
The tagged quasi-free reaction has been studied
experimentally with the High Acceptance Di-Electron Spectrometer (HADES) at GSI
at a deuteron incident beam energy of 1.25 GeV/nucleon ( 2.42
GeV/c for the quasi-free collision). For the first time, differential
distributions for production in collisions have been
collected in the region corresponding to the large transverse momenta of the
secondary particles. The invariant mass and angular distributions for the
reaction are compared with different models.
This comparison confirms the dominance of the -channel with
contribution. It also validates the changes previously introduced in the
Valencia model to describe two-pion production data in other isospin channels,
although some deviations are observed, especially for the
invariant mass spectrum. The extracted total cross section is also in much
better agreement with this model. Our new measurement puts useful constraints
for the existence of the conjectured dibaryon resonance at mass M 2.38
GeV and with width 70 MeV
The heme synthesis-export system regulates the tricarboxylic acid cycle flux and oxidative phosphorylation
Heme is an iron-containing porphyrin of vital importance for cell energetic metabolism. High rates of heme synthesis are commonly observed in proliferating cells. Moreover, the cell-surface heme exporter feline leukemia virus subgroup C receptor 1a (FLVCR1a) is overexpressed in several tumor types. However, the reasons why heme synthesis and export are enhanced in highly proliferating cells remain unknown. Here, we illustrate a functional axis between heme synthesis and heme export: heme efflux through the plasma membrane sustains heme synthesis, and implementation of the two processes down-modulates the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle flux and oxidative phosphorylation. Conversely, inhibition of heme export reduces heme synthesis and promotes the TCA cycle fueling and flux as well as oxidative phosphorylation. These data indicate that the heme synthesis-export system modulates the TCA cycle and oxidative metabolism and provide amechanistic basis for the observation that both processes are enhanced in cells with high-energy demand
In-Medium Effects on K0 Mesons in Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions
We present the transverse momentum spectra and rapidity distributions of
and K in Ar+KCl reactions at a beam kinetic energy of 1.756 A
GeV measured with the spectrometer HADES. The reconstructed K sample is
characterized by good event statistics for a wide range in momentum and
rapidity. We compare the experimental and K distributions to
predictions by the IQMD model. The model calculations show that K at low
tranverse momenta constitute a particularly well suited tool to investigate the
kaon in-medium potential. Our K data suggest a strong repulsive in-medium
K potential of about 40 MeV strength.Comment: 10 pages, 10 figures, accepted by Phys. Rev.
Technical Design Report for the PANDA Solenoid and Dipole Spectrometer Magnets
This document is the Technical Design Report covering the two large
spectrometer magnets of the PANDA detector set-up. It shows the conceptual
design of the magnets and their anticipated performance. It precedes the tender
and procurement of the magnets and, hence, is subject to possible modifications
arising during this process.Comment: 10 pages, 14MB, accepted by FAIR STI in May 2009, editors: Inti

Inclusive dielectron production in proton-proton collisions at 2.2 GeV beam energy
Data on inclusive dielectron production are presented for the reaction p+p at
2.2 GeV measured with the High Acceptance DiElectron Spectrometer (HADES). Our
results supplement data obtained earlier in this bombarding energy regime by
DLS and HADES. The comparison with the 2.09 GeV DLS data is discussed. The
reconstructed e+e- distributions are confronted with simulated pair cocktails,
revealing an excess yield at invariant masses around 0.5 GeV/c2. Inclusive
cross sections of neutral pion and eta production are obtained
