    Aircraft control position indicator

    Get PDF
An aircraft control position indicator was provided that displayed the degree of deflection of the primary flight control surfaces and the manner in which the aircraft responded. The display included a vertical elevator dot/bar graph meter display for indication whether the aircraft will pitch up or down, a horizontal aileron dot/bar graph meter display for indicating whether the aircraft will roll to the left or to the right, and a horizontal dot/bar graph meter display for indicating whether the aircraft will turn left or right. The vertical and horizontal display or displays intersect to form an up/down, left/right type display. Internal electronic display driver means received signals from transducers measuring the control surface deflections and determined the position of the meter indicators on each dot/bar graph meter display. The device allows readability at a glance, easy visual perception in sunlight or shade, near-zero lag in displaying flight control position, and is not affected by gravitational or centrifugal forces

Connection between soft and hard probes of small collision systems at RHIC and LHC

    Get PDF
The expected connections between signatures in the soft and hard sectors of small collision systems, and the status of experimental attempts to identify them, are discussed. These proceedings summarize the talk as given at the International Symposium on Multi-Particle Dynamics in September 2019 in Santa Fe, NM (ISMD19). As such, the choice of content and focus are selective and not intended to be comprehensive.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, proceedings of the ISMD1

    Attractor Solutions in Tachyacoustic Cosmology

We study the dynamical stability of "tachyacoustic" cosmological models, in which primordial perturbations are generated by a shrinking sound horizon during a period of decelerating expansion. Such models represent a potential alternative to inflationary cosmology, but the phase-space behavior of tachyacoustic solutions has not previously been investigated. We numerically evaluate the dynamics of two non-canonical Lagrangians, a cuscuton-like Lagrangian and a Dirac-Born-Infeld Lagrangian, which generate a scale-invariant spectrum of perturbations. We show that the power-law background solutions in both cases are dynamical attractors.Comment: Some references and comments added. Accepted for publication in Physical Review

A study of seroprevalence of rubella IgG in Maltese adolescents

    Get PDF
The objective of this study was to determine the seroprevalence of rubella IgG antibodies in Maltese adolescents, through a cross-sectional study, with mailed questionnaire and blood sampling. The subjects tested were 172 individuals, aged 14-15 years from Malta and Gozo for the prevalence of vaccination and seropositivity (IgG) for rubella. The results of the 85% individuals vaccinated seropositivity was detected in 168 youths (97.7%). The study showed a high level of detectable humoral immunity to rubella but this could not be definitively attributed to vaccination alone.peer-reviewe
