The Jackiw-Pi model and its symmetries

The non-Abelian gauge model proposed by Jackiw and Pi, which generates an even-parity mass term in three space-time dimensions, is revisited in this letter. All the symmetries of the model are collected and established by means of BRS invariance and Slavnov-Taylor identity. The path for the perturbatively quantization of the Jackiw-Pi model, through the algebraic method of renormalization, is presented.Comment: 5 page

    The Jackiw-Pi model: classical theory

The massive even-parity non-Abelian gauge model in three space-time dimensions proposed by Jackiw and Pi is studied at the tree-level. The propagators are computed and the spectrum consistency is analyzed, besides, the symmetries of the model are collected and established through BRS invariance and Slavnov-Taylor identity. In the Landau gauge, thanks to the antighost equations and the Slavnov-Taylor identity, two rigid symmetries are identified by means of Ward identities. It is presented here a promising path for perturbatively quantization of the Jackiw-Pi model and a hint concerning its possible quantum scale invariance is also pointed out.Comment: In honor of the 70th birthday of Prof. Olivier Piguet. 11 page

Electron-polaron--electron-polaron bound states in mass-gap graphene-like planar quantum electrodynamics: ss-wave bipolarons

A Lorentz invariant version of a mass-gap graphene-like planar quantum electrodynamics, the parity-preserving U(1)×U(1)U(1)\times U(1) massive QED3_3, exhibits attractive interaction in low-energy electron-polaron--electron-polaron ss-wave scattering, favoring quasiparticles bound states, the ss-wave bipolarons.Comment: 6 pages, two figures, references adde

    Scale Invariance in a Non-Abelian Chern-Simons-Matter Model

The general method of reduction in the number of coupling parameters is applied in a Chern-Simons-matter model with several independent couplings. We claim that considering the asymptotic region, and expressing all dimensionless coupling parameters as functions of the Chern-Simons coupling, it is possible to show that all β\beta-functions vanish to any order of perturbative series. Therefore, the model is asymptotically scale invariant.Comment: 8 pages, Latex2e, title changed, section 2 withdrawn and one reference added. To appear in Phys.Lett.

No radiative generation of Chern-Simons-like term in Lorentz-violating QED: dealing with IR divergences

    Get PDF
The issue intensively claimed in the literature on the generation of a CPT-odd and Lorentz violating Chern-Simons-like term by radiative corrections owing to a CPT violating interaction -- the axial coupling of fermions with a constant vector field b_\m -- is mistaken. The presence of massless gauge field triggers IR divergences that might show up from the UV subtractions, therefore, so as to deal with the (actual physical) IR divergences, the Lowenstein-Zimmermann subtraction scheme, in the framework of BPHZL renormalization method, has to be adopted. The proof on the non generation of such a Chern-Simons-like term is done, independent of any kind of regularization scheme, at all orders in perturbation theory.Comment: In honor of Prof. Manfred Schweda (1939-2017). Twisted N=4 SUSY Algebra in Topological Models of Schwarz Type

    Get PDF
We reinvestigate the twisted N=4 supersymmetry present in Schwarz type topological field models. We show that Chern-Simons theory in three dimensions can be untwisted to a kind of sigma-model with reversed statistics only in the free case. By dimensional reduction we define then the two-dimensional BF-model. We establish an analog result concerning the untwisting. As a consequence of the definition through dimensional reduction we find new fermionic scalar symmetries that have been overlooked so far in the literature.Comment: 12 pages, no figure, Late
