Equilibrium and off-equilibrium simulations of the 4d Gaussian spin glass
In this paper we study the on and off-equilibrium properties of the four
dimensional Gaussian spin glass. In the static case we determine with more
precision that in previous simulations both the critical temperature as well as
the critical exponents. In the off-equilibrium case we settle the general form
of the autocorrelation function, and show that is possible to obtain

Unitary transformations for testing Bell inequalities
It is shown that optical experimental tests of Bell inequality violations can
be described by SU(1,1) transformations of the vacuum state, followed by photon
coincidence detections. The set of all possible tests are described by various
SU(1,1) subgroups of Sp(8,). In addition to establishing a common
formalism for physically distinct Bell inequality tests, the similarities and
differences of post--selected tests of Bell inequality violations are also made
clear. A consequence of this analysis is that Bell inequality tests are
performed on a very general version of SU(1,1) coherent states, and the
theoretical violation of the Bell inequality by coincidence detection is
calculated and discussed. This group theoretical approach to Bell states is
relevant to Bell state measurements, which are performed, for example, in

Mycotoxin exposure and human cancer risk : a systematic review of epidemiological studies
In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in investigating the carcinogenicity of mycotoxins in humans. This systematic review aims to provide an overview of data linking exposure to different mycotoxins with human cancer risk. Publications (2019 and earlier) of caseâcontrol or longitudinal cohort studies were identified in PubMed and EMBASE. These articles were then screened by independent reviewers and their quality was assessed according to the NewcastleâOttawa scale. Animal, crossâsectional, and molecular studies satisfied criteria for exclusion. In total, 14 articles were included: 13 caseâcontrol studies and 1 longitudinal cohort study. Included articles focused on associations of mycotoxin exposure with primary liver, breast, and cervical cancer. Overall, a positive association between the consumption of aflatoxinâcontaminated foods and primary liver cancer risk was verified. Two caseâcontrol studies in Africa investigated the relationship between zearalenone and its metabolites and breast cancer risk, though conflicting results were reported. Two caseâcontrol studies investigated the association between hepatocellular carcinoma and fumonisin B1 exposure, but no significant associations were observed. This systematic review incorporates several clear observations of doseâdependent associations between aflatoxins and liver cancer risk, in keeping with IARC Monograph conclusions. Only few human epidemiological studies investigated the associations between mycotoxin exposures and cancer risk. To close this gap, more inâdepth research is needed to unravel evidence for other common mycotoxins, such as deoxynivalenol and ochratoxin A. The link between mycotoxin exposures and cancer risk has mainly been established in experimental studies, and needs to be confirmed in human epidemiological studies to support the evidenceâbased public health strategies
Grid services for the MAGIC experiment
Exploring signals from the outer space has become an observational science
under fast expansion. On the basis of its advanced technology the MAGIC
telescope is the natural building block for the first large scale ground based
high energy gamma-ray observatory. The low energy threshold for gamma-rays
together with different background sources leads to a considerable amount of
data. The analysis will be done in different institutes spread over Europe.
Therefore MAGIC offers the opportunity to use the Grid technology to setup a
distributed computational and data intensive analysis system with the nowadays
available technology. Benefits of Grid computing for the MAGIC telescope are

The SKA view of the Neutral Interstellar Medium in Galaxies
Two major questions in galaxy evolution are how star-formation on small
scales leads to global scaling laws and how galaxies acquire sufficient gas to
sustain their star formation rates. HI observations with high angular
resolution and with sensitivity to very low column densities are some of the
important observational ingredients that are currently still missing. Answers
to these questions are necessary for a correct interpretation of observations
of galaxy evolution in the high-redshift universe and will provide crucial
input for the sub-grid physics in hydrodynamical simulations of galaxy
evolutions. In this chapter we discuss the progress that will be made with the

Particle Production at the SPS and the QCD Phase Diagram
Recent results of particle production in the energy regime of the CERN-SPS
are reviewed. In order to collect information on the properties of the QCD
phase diagram systematic studies of the system size and the energy dependence
of particle production in heavy ion collisions have been performed. Net-baryon
distributions and results on strangeness production are discussed. The system
size dependence of many observables can be understood in the core-corona
approach, which has implications on the possibility to use system size as a
control parameter to study different areas of the phase diagram. Recent
attempts to search for a critical point, such as multiplicity fluctuations and

The Finite Size SU(3) Perk-Schultz Model with Deformation Parameter q=exp(i 2 pi/3)
From extensive numeric diagonalizations of the SU(3) Perk-Schultz Hamiltonian
with a special value of the anisotropy and different boundary conditions, we
have observed simple regularities for a significant part of its eigenspectrum.
In particular the ground state energy and nearby excitations belong to this
part of the spectrum.
Our simple formulae describing these regularities remind, apart from some
selection rules, the eigenspectrum of the free fermion model. Based on the
numerical observations we formulate several conjectures. Using explicit
solutions of the associated nested Bethe-ansatz equations, guessed from an
analysis of the functional equations of the model, we provide evidence for a

Quarkonia production with the Hera-B experiment
Measurements of the dependence of the J/Psi production cross section on its
kinematic variables as well as on the target atomic numbers for 920 GeV/c
protons incident on different targets have been made with the Hera-B detector.
The large collected di-lepton sample allows to study the production ratio of
Psi(2S) to J/Psi and of Chic to J/Psi . We also report on measurements of the
