VLA observations of candidate high-mass protostellar objects at 7 mm
We present radio continuum observations at 7 mm made using the Very Large
Array towards three massive star forming regions thought to be in very early
stages of evolution selected from the sample of Sridharan et al. (2002).
Emission was detected towards all three sources (IRAS 18470-0044, IRAS
19217+1651 and IRAS 23151+5912). We find that in all cases the 7 mm emission
corresponds to thermal emission from ionized gas. The regions of ionized gas
associated with IRAS 19217+1651 and IRAS 23151+5912 are hypercompact with
diameters of 0.009 and 0.0006 pc, and emission measures of 7.0 x 10^8 and 2.3 x

Low- vs high-dose ARNI effects on clinical status, exercise performance and cardiac function in real-life HFrEF patients
Purpose: Only a few studies are available on dose-related effects of sacubitril/valsartan (angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibition (ARNI)) in real-life patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). We sought to investigate clinical and functional effects in real-life HFrEF patients receiving ARNI at a different cumulative dose. Methods: This was an observational study in consecutive outpatients admitted for HFrEF from October 2017 to June 2019. The PARADIGM criteria were needed for enrolment. ARNI was uptitrated according to blood pressure, drug tolerability, renal function and kaliemia. At least 10-month follow-up was required in each patient. Clinical assessment, Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire (KCCQ) score, 6-min walk test and strain echocardiography were performed in each patient on a regular basis during the observational period. At the end of the study, patients were divided into two groups based on the median yearly dose of the ARNI medication. Results: A total of 90 patients, 64 \ub1 11 years, 82% males, were enrolled. The cut-off dose was established in 75 mg BID, and the study population was divided into group A ( 64 75 mg), 52 patients (58%), and group B (> 75 mg), 38 patients (42%). The follow-up duration was 12 months (range 11\u201313). NYHA class, KCCQ score and 6MWT performance ameliorated in both groups, with a quicker time to benefit in group B. The proportion of patients walking > 350 m increased from 21 to 58% in group A (p < 0.001), and from 29 to 82% in group B (p < 0.001). A positive effect was also disclosed in the left ventricular remodelling, strain deformation and diastolic function. Conclusion: One-year ARNI treatment was effective in our real-life HFrEF patient population, leading to clinical and functional improvement in both study groups, slightly greater and with a shorter time to benefit in group B
Silicon isotopic abundance toward evolved stars and its application for presolar grains
Galactic chemical evolution (GCE) is important for understanding the
composition of the present-day interstellar medium (ISM) and of our solar
system. In this paper, we aim to track the GCE by using the 29Si/30Si ratios in
evolved stars and tentatively relate this to presolar grain composition. We
used the APEX telescope to detect thermal SiO isotopologue emission toward four
oxygen-rich M-type stars. Together with the data retrieved from the Herschel
science archive and from the literature, we were able to obtain the 29Si/30Si
ratios for a total of 15 evolved stars inferred from their optically thin 29SiO
and 30SiO emission. These stars cover a range of masses and ages, and because
they do not significantly alter 29Si/30Si during their lifetimes, they provide
excellent probes of the ISM metallicity (or 29Si/30Si ratio) as a function of
time. The 29Si/30Si ratios inferred from the thermal SiO emission tend to be
lower toward low-mass oxygen-rich stars (e.g., down to about unity for W Hya),
and close to an interstellar or solar value of 1.5 for the higher-mass carbon
star IRC+10216 and two red supergiants. There is a tentative correlation
between the 29Si/30Si ratios and the mass-loss rates of evolved stars, where we
take the mass-loss rate as a proxy for the initial stellar mass or current
stellar age. This is consistent with the different abundance ratios found in
presolar grains. We found that older objects (up to possibly 10 Gyr old) in our
sample trace a previous, lower 29Si/30Si value of about 1. Material with this
isotopic ratio is present in two subclasses of presolar grains, providing
independent evidence of the lower ratio. Therefore, the 29Si/30Si ratio derived
from the SiO emission of evolved stars is a useful diagnostic tool for the
study of the GCE and presolar grains.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure
<b><i>Topoisomerase 1</i></b> Promoter Variants and Benefit from Irinotecan in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer Patients
Objective: Topoisomerase 1 (topo-1) is an important target for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC). The aim of the present study was to evaluate the correlation between topo-1 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and clinical outcome in metastatic CRC (mCRC) patients.
Methods: With the use of specific software (PROMO 3.0), we performed an in silico analysis of topo-1 promoter SNPs; the rs6072249 and rs34282819 SNPs were included in the study. DNA was extracted from 105 mCRC patients treated with FOLFIRI ± bevacizumab in the first line. SNP genotyping was performed by real-time PCR. Genotypes were correlated with clinical parameters (objective response rate, progression-free survival, and overall survival).
Results: No single genotype was significantly associated with clinical variables. The G allelic variant of rs6072249 topo-1 SNP is responsible for GC factor and X-box-binding protein transcription factor binding. The same allelic variant showed a nonsignificant trend toward a shorter progression-free survival (GG, 7.5 months; other genotypes, 9.3 months; HR 1.823, 95% CI 0.8904-3.734; p = 0.1).
Conclusion: Further analyses are needed to confirm that the topo-1 SNP rs6072249 and transcription factor interaction could be a part of tools to predict clinical outcome in mCRC patients treated with irinotecan-based regimens
Trapped vortex cell for aeronautical applications: flow analysis through PIV and Wavelet transform tools.
Abstract Results of the application of a trapped vortex cell to an airfoil with the aim of improving the
aerodynamic performances are presented for two complementary experiments arranged at CIRA and at
Politecnico di Torino. In the CIRA experiments, PIV measurements on a simplified configuration were carried
out to characterize the trapped vortical structure and its effect on the separating flow downstream of the cell. In
the experimental investigation at Politecnico di Torino, static pressure distributions were measured around a
complete airfoil model, to yield lift and pitching moment coefficients. Wake surveys were also carried out to
measure the drag. To study the unsteady phenomena inside the cavity pressure fluctuations signals were also
investigated using Kulite sensors. In both experiments, the angle of attack of the airfoil and the Reynolds number
were varied. It is shown that the flow inside the cell is highly unsteady with significant shedding of flow
structures downstream. This phenomenon results in a large region of separated flow, in higher drag and lower
lift. By contrast, the cell flow is considerably stabilized and regularized by applying distributed suction over the
cell wall. As a result, the flow downstream of the cell reattaches and lower drag and larger lift are observed
SACY - a Search for Associations Containing Young stars
The scientific goal of the SACY (Search for Associations Containing
Young-stars) was to identify possible associations of stars younger than the
Pleiades Association among optical counterparts of the ROSAT X-ray bright
sources. High-resolution spectra for possible optical counterparts later than
G0 belonging to HIPPARCOS and/or TYCHO-2 catalogs were obtained in order to
assess both the youth and the spatial motion of each target. More than 1000
ROSAT sources were observed, covering a large area in the Southern Hemisphere.
The newly identified young stars present a patchy distribution in UVW and XYZ,
revealing the existence of huge nearby young associations. Here we present the

Developing a questionnaire evaluating knowledge, attitudes and behaviors on audit & feedback among general practitioners. A mixed methods study
Background: Audit and Feedback (A&F) is one of the most common strategies used to improve quality in healthcare. However, there is still lack of awareness regarding the enabling factors and barriers that could influence its effectiveness. The aim of this study was to develop a questionnaire to measure the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of general practitioners (GPs) regarding A&F. The study was performed in the context of the EASY-NET program (project code NET-2016-02364191). Methods: The survey was developed according to two steps. Firstly, a scoping review was performed in order to map the literature on the existing similar instruments with the aim of identifying the sub-domains and possible items to include in a preliminary version of the questionnaire. In the second phase, the questionnaire was reviewed by a multidisciplinary group of experts and administrated to a convenience sample in a pilot survey. Results: Ten papers were included in the scoping review. The survey target and development methodology were heterogenous among the studies. The knowledge, attitudes and behaviors domains were assessed in six, nine and seven studies, respectively. In the first step, 126 pertinent items were extracted and categorized as follows: 8 investigated knowledge, 93 investigated attitudes, and 25 investigated behaviors. Then, 2 sub-domains were identified for knowledge, 14 for attitudes and 7 for behavior. Based on these results, a first version of the survey was developed via consensus among two authors and then revised by the multidisciplinary group of experts in the field of A&F. The final version of the survey included 36 items: 8 in the knowledge domain, 19 in the attitudes domain and 9 in the behaviors domain. The results of the pilot study among 15 GPs suggested a good acceptability and item relevance and accuracy, with positive answers totaling 100% and 93.3% in the proposed questions. Conclusions: The methodology used has shown to be a good strategy for the development of the survey. The survey will be administrated before and after the implementation of an A&F intervention to assess both baseline characteristics and changes after the intervention
