Discrete coherent states for higher Landau levels

    Get PDF
We consider the quantum dynamics of a charged particle evolving under the action of a constant homogeneous magnetic field, with emphasis on the discrete subgroups of the Heisenberg group (in the Euclidean case) and of the SL(2, R) group (in the Hyperbolic case). We investigate completeness properties of discrete coherent states associated with higher order Euclidean and hyperbolic Landau levels, partially extending classic results of Perelomov and of Bargmann, Butera, Girardello and Klauder. In the Euclidean case, our results follow from identifying the completeness problem with known results from the theory of Gabor frames. The results for the hyperbolic setting follow by using a combination of methods from coherent states, time-scale analysis and the theory of Fuchsian groups and their associated automorphic forms.Comment: Revised for Annals of Physic

A New ABCA3 Gene Mutation Presenting as Early Neonatal Surfactant Deficiency

Mutations of the ATP-binding cassette transporter A3 gene (ABCA3) causing the dysfunction of surfactant proteins are a well-established cause of interstitial lung disease. The clinical presentation is variable ranging from neonatal early death to mild forms of interstitial lung disease in the adult. We present the case of a newborn with early neonatal respiratory distress. The clinical and radiologic findings were compatible with interstitial lung disease. The disease progressed toward severe respiratory insufficiency and the patient died at the age of 3 years. A variant not yet described in the literature was found in the ABCA3 gene (c.4442C>T), in apparent homozygosity. Parental genetic studies revealed that only the father was a carrier for this variant. The quantitative study of the ABCA3 gene in our patient revealed a deletion affecting exon 32 and possibly 29. This report describes the phenotype of a new ABCA3 variant causing surfactant deficiency while also highlighting the importance of considering gene deletions in case of unconfirmed homozygosity.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    Hermitian clifford analysis

This paper gives an overview of some basic results on Hermitian Clifford analysis, a refinement of classical Clifford analysis dealing with functions in the kernel of two mutually adjoint Dirac operators invariant under the action of the unitary group. The set of these functions, called Hermitian monogenic, contains the set of holomorphic functions in several complex variables. The paper discusses, among other results, the Fischer decomposition, the Cauchy–Kovalevskaya extension problem, the axiomatic radial algebra, and also some algebraic analysis of the system associated with Hermitian monogenic functions. While the Cauchy–Kovalevskaya extension problem can be carried out for the Hermitian monogenic system, this system imposes severe constraints on the initial Cauchy data. There exists a subsystem of the Hermitian monogenic system in which these constraints can be avoided. This subsystem, called submonogenic system, will also be discussed in the paper
