Non-perturbative Renormalisation with Domain Wall Fermions

    Get PDF
We present results from a study of the renormalisation of both quark bilinear and four-quark operators for the domain wall fermion action, using the non-perturbative renormalisation technique of the Rome-Southampton group. These results are from a quenched simulation, on a 16^3 x 32 lattice, with beta=6.0 and L_s=16.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figures, Lattice 2000 (Improvement and Renormalisation), RBC collaboration, Typos correcte

Non-Perturbative Renormalisation using Domain Wall Fermions

    Get PDF
The viability of the Non-Perturbative Renormalisation (NPR) method of the Rome/Southampton group is studied, for the first time, in the context of domain wall fermions. The procedure is used to extract the renormalisation coefficients of the various quark bilinears, as well as the four-fermion operators relevant to the ΔS=2\Delta S=2 effective Hamiltonian. The renormalisation of the ΔS=1\Delta S=1 Hamiltonian is also discussed.Comment: LATTICE99(Improvement and Renormalization),3 pages, LaTeX2e; minor typos correcte

Introduction to the Physics of Higgs Bosons

    Get PDF
A basic introduction to the physics of the Standard Model Higgs boson is given. We discuss Higgs boson production in e+ee^+e^- and hadronic collisions and survey search techniques at future accelerators. The Higgs bosons of the minimal SUSY model are briefly considered. Indirect limits from triviality arguments, vacuum stability and precision measurements at LEP are also presented.Comment: Lectures given at the 1994 TASI summer school, Boulder, Colorado. Ranunculus calcareus and its role in lowland streams

    Get PDF
Ranunculus calcareus , a species of water crowfoot which occurs in clear, nutrient-rich chalk streams, was studied. Seasonal changes in its biomass, its annual production and its fragmentation (leading to downstream movement of the plant) were investigated. From an understanding of the growth rate and requirements of plants such as these, an indirect method of management can be devised, which does not have the undesirable consequences of the direct methods (such as cutting)

DPF `96: The triumph of the Standard Model

    Get PDF
I summarize some of the highlights of the 1996 DPF meeting, paying particular attention to new measurements of the WW, ZZ, and top quark masses. Precision electroweak measurements from LEP are discussed with emphasis on recent measurements of RbR_b and values of the coupling constants α(MZ2)\alpha(M_Z^2) and αs(MZ2)\alpha_s(M_Z^2) are presented. Taken as a whole, the data are in spectacular agreement with the predictions of the Standard Model.Comment: Summary talk given at the 1996 DPF meeting, Minneapolis, Minn., Aug. 10-15, 1996; uses sprocl.sty, 8 p
