Group Supervision Attitudes: Supervisory Practices Fostering Resistance to Adoption of Evidence-Based Practices
The focus of this study was to qualitatively evaluate worker’s attitudes about clinical supervision. It is believed that poor attitudes toward clinical supervision can create barriers during supervision sessions. Fifty-one participants within a social services organization completed an open-ended questionnaire regarding their clinical supervision experiences. Results suggest four key areas which appear to be strong factors in workers’ experiences and attitudes regarding group supervision: a. facilitator’s skill level; b. creativity; c. utilization of technology; and d. applicability. For organizations interested in overcoming potential barriers to adopting best practices, effectively addressing workers’ negative attitudes toward group supervision would be a worthy endeavor

Measuring Fundamental Galactic Parameters with Stellar Tidal Streams and SIM PlanetQuest
Extended halo tidal streams from disrupting Milky Way satellites offer new
opportunities for gauging fundamental Galactic parameters without challenging
observations of the Galactic center. In the roughly spherical Galactic
potential tidal debris from a satellite system is largely confined to a single
plane containing the Galactic center, so accurate distances to stars in the
tidal stream can be used to gauge the Galactic center distance, R_0, given
reasonable projection of the stream orbital pole on the X_GC axis.
Alternatively, a tidal stream with orbital pole near the Y_GC axis, like the
Sagittarius stream, can be used to derive the speed of the Local Standard of
Rest (\Theta_LSR). Modest improvements in current astrometric catalogues might
allow this measurement to be made, but NASA's Space Interferometry Mission (SIM
PlanetQuest) can definitively obtain both R_0 and \Theta_LSR using tidal

Cold heteromolecular dipolar collisions
We present the first experimental observation of cold collisions between two
different species of neutral polar molecules, each prepared in a single
internal quantum state. Combining for the first time the techniques of Stark
deceleration, magnetic trapping, and cryogenic buffer gas cooling allows the
enhancement of molecular interaction time by 10. This has enabled an
absolute measurement of the total trap loss cross sections between OH and
ND at a mean collision energy of 3.6 cm (5 K). Due to the dipolar
interaction, the total cross section increases upon application of an external
polarizing electric field. Cross sections computed from \emph{ab initio}
potential energy surfaces are in excellent agreement with the measured value at
zero external electric field. The theory presented here represents the first
such analysis of collisions between a radical and a closed-shell

Impact of the Academic-Social Context on American Indian/Alaska Native Student’s Academic Performance
American Indian/Alaska Native students have the highest dropout rates of any racial-ethnic group. This study posits that a poor Academic-Social Context contributes to low grade point average (GPA), which in turn negatively affects AI/AN students’ persistence to graduation. The present study compares the self-reported academic performance of AI/AN undergraduate students with that of students from other ethnic backgrounds, in order to evaluate whether variation in students’ ASC and any identified medical conditions differentially affected AI/AN students. Findings suggest that AI/AN students enter college with poorer ASC and have lower GPA scores. This study points to further investigations into the effects of social contexts on AI/AN students’ academic achievement and retention in college, especially social belongingness
Naval History by Conspiracy Theory: The British Admiralty before the First World War and the Methodology of Revisionism
Revisionist interpretations of British naval policy in the Fisher era claim that an elaborate smoke screen was created to hide the Royal Navy’s real policies; while documents showing the true goals were systematically destroyed. By asserting this, revisionists are able to dismiss those parts of the documentary record that contradict their theories, while simultaneously excusing the lack of evidence for their theories by claiming it has been destroyed. This article shows that this methodology is misleading and untenable
American Indian/Alaskan Native College Dropout: Recommendations for Increasing Retention and Graduation
Throughout the United States, the college dropout rate among American Indian/Alaskan Native (AI/AN) students in public universities is the highest compared to any other student group. Researchers have identified this problem and offered reasons for it, but few have made specific efforts to disrupt the continued dropout rates. This article identifies and discusses three recommendations to address the dropout problem from a systems, rather than individual, perspective: (1) living and learning communities, (2) social belonging intervention, and (3) self-regulated learning activities. Studied with minority students, these endeavors show promise for retaining underrepresented students, specifically AI/AN students. To disrupt the long-term problem of dropouts among the AI/AN population, adjustments within public university systems must be part of the effort
