Probing the MSSM Higgs Sector via Weak Boson Fusion at the LHC
In the MSSM weak boson fusion produces the two CP even Higgs bosons with a
combined strength equivalent to the production of the Standard Model Higgs
boson. The tau tau decay mode --- supplemented by gamma gamma --- provides a
highly significant signal for at least one of the CP even Higgs bosons at the
LHC with reasonable luminosity. The accessible parameter space covers the
entire physical range which will be left unexplored by LEP2.Comment: 8 pages, LaTeX2e, RevTeX3.1, 4 figures include
Higgs Decays to Muons in Weak Boson Fusion
We investigate the muonic decay of a light Higgs boson, produced in weak
boson fusion at future hadron colliders. We find that this decay mode would be
observable at the CERN LHC only with an unreasonably large amount of data,
while at a 200 TeV vLHC this process could be used to extract the muon Yukawa
coupling to about the 10% level, or better if significant improvements in
detector design can be achieved.Comment: 8 pages, Latex2e, Revtex, 8 figure
Correlated decays of pair-produced scalar taus
We study the quantum mechanical correlation between two identical neutralinos
in the decays of minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) scalar tau (stau)
pair produced in e+e- annihilation. Generally, the decay products of scalar
(spinless) particles are not correlated. We show that a correlation between two
neutralinos appears near pair production threshold, due to a finite stau width
and mixing of the staus and/or neutralinos, and because the neutralinos are
Majorana. Because the correlation is significant only in a specific kinematical
configuration, it can be observed only in supersymmetric models where the
neutralino momenta can be kinematically reconstructed, such as in models with
R-parity violation.Comment: revtex, 10 pages, 8 eps figures; references added, version to appear

Robust LHC Higgs Search in Weak Boson Fusion
We demonstrate that an LHC Higgs search in weak boson fusion production with
subsequent decay to weak boson pairs is robust against extensions of the
Standard Model or MSSM involving a large number of Higgs doublets. We also show
that the transverse mass distribution provides unambiguous discrimination of a
continuum Higgs signal from the Standard Model.Comment: 12p, 2 figs., additional comments on backgrounds, version to appear

Urban Outbreak 2019 Pandemic Response: Select Research & Game Findings
This document is a summary of 16 key research and game findings focused specifically on the characteristics of civil-military response to a pandemic scenario. The numbered bullets below correspond to more detailed explanations of findings presented later in the document. While these findings are in no way definitive or complete, they are a sampling of relevant guidance based on research, gaming and expert opinion. It is our hope that these 16 findings will contribute to improving civilian and military effectiveness in humanitarian assistance and disaster response operationshttps://digital-commons.usnwc.edu/civmilresponse-program-sims-uo-2019/1001/thumbnail.jp
Determining the Structure of Higgs Couplings at the LHC
Higgs boson production via weak boson fusion at the CERN Large Hadron
Collider has the capability to determine the dominant CP nature of a Higgs
boson, via the tensor structure of its coupling to weak bosons. This
information is contained in the azimuthal angle distribution of the two
outgoing forward tagging jets. The technique is independent of both the Higgs
boson mass and the observed decay channel.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, version accepted for publication in PR
The Impact of Spatial Heterogeneity in Land Use Practices and Aquifer Characteristics on Groundwater Conservation Policy Cost
Estimation of agricultural policy cost for a given level of groundwater conservation requires the establishment of an accurate baseline condition. This is especially critical when the benefits and cost of any conservation program are generally estimated relative to the status quo policy or baseline situation. An inaccurate baseline estimate will lead to poor estimates of potential water conservation savings and agricultural policy cost. Over a 60-year planning horizon per acre net present value is as much as 29.8% higher for a study area when aquifer characteristics are assumed to be homogenous and set to their average area value than when the heterogeneity in aquifer characteristics is explicitly modeled.Aquifer Modeling, Economics, Resource /Energy Economics and Policy,
Review of Top Quark Physics
We present an overview of Top Quark Physics - from what has been learned so
far at the Tevatron, to the searches that lie ahead at present and future
colliders. We summarize the richness of the measurements and discuss their
possible impact on our understanding of the Standard Model by pointing out
their key elements and limitations. When possible, we discuss how the top quark
may provide a connection to new or unexpected physics.Comment: 84 pp. With permission from the Annual Review of Nuclear & Particle
