Alpha-nucleus potential for alpha-decay and sub-barrier fusion
The set of parameters for alpha-nucleus potential is derived by using the
data for both the alpha-decay half-lives and the fusion cross-sections around
the barrier for reactions alpha+40Ca, alpha+59Co, alpha+208Pb. The alpha-decay
half-lives are obtained in the framework of a cluster model using the WKB
approximation. The evaluated alpha-decay half-lives and the fusion
cross-sections agreed well with the data. Fusion reactions between
alpha-particle and heavy nuclei can be used for both the formation of very
heavy nuclei and spectroscopic studies of the formed compound nuclei.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figure
Semi-supervised Convolutional Neural Networks for Flood Mapping using Multi-modal Remote Sensing Data
When floods hit populated areas, quick detection of flooded areas is crucial for initial response by local government, residents, and volunteers. Space-borne polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) is an authoritative data sources for flood mapping since it can be acquired immediately after a disaster even at night time or cloudy weather. Conventionally, a lot of domain-specific heuristic knowledge has been applied for PolSAR flood mapping, but their performance still suffers from confusing pixels caused by irregular reflections of radar waves. Optical images are another data source that can be used to detect flooded areas due to their high spectral correlation with the open water surface. However, they are often affected by day, night, or severe weather conditions (i.e., cloud). This paper presents a convolution neural network (CNN) based multimodal approach utilizing the advantages of both PolSAR and optical images for flood mapping. First, reference training data is retrieved from optical images by manual annotation. Since clouds may appear in the optical image, only areas with a clear view of flooded or non-flooded are annotated. Then, a semisupervised polarimetric-features-aided CNN is utilized for flood mapping using PolSAR data. The proposed model not only can handle the issue of learning with incomplete ground truth but also can leverage a large portion of unlabelled pixels for learning. Moreover, our model takes the advantages of expert knowledge on scattering interpretation to incorporate polarimetric-features as the input. Experiments results are given for the flood event that occurred in Sendai, Japan, on 12th March 2011. The experiments show that our framework can map flooded area with high accuracy (F1 = 96:12) and outperform conventional flood mapping methods
Pair formation and collapse in imbalanced Fermion populations with unequal masses
We present an exact Quantum Monte Carlo study of the effect of unequal masses
on pair formation in Fermionic systems with population imbalance loaded into
optical lattices. We have considered three forms of the attractive interaction
and find in all cases that the system is unstable and collapses as the mass
difference increases and that the ground state becomes an inhomogeneous
collapsed state. We also address the question of canonical vs grand canonical
ensemble and its role, if any, in stabilizing certain phases
Optothermotronic effect as an ultrasensitive thermal sensing technology for solid-state electronics
The thermal excitation, regulation, and detection of charge carriers in solid-state electronics have attracted great attention toward high-performance sensing applications but still face major challenges. Manipulating thermal excitation and transport of charge carriers in nanoheterostructures, we report a giant temperature sensing effect in semiconductor nanofilms via optoelectronic coupling, termed optothermotronics. A gradient of charge carriers in the nanofilms under nonuniform light illumination is coupled with an electric tuning current to enhance the performance of the thermal sensing effect. As a proof of concept, we used silicon carbide (SiC) nanofilms that form nanoheterostructures on silicon (Si). The sensing performance based on the thermal excitation of charge carriers in SiC is enhanced by at least 100 times through photon excitation, with a giant temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of up to −50%/K. Our findings could be used to substantially enhance the thermal sensing performance of solid-state electronics beyond the present sensing technologies
CMBR Constraint on a Modified Chaplygin Gas Model
In this paper, a modified Chaplygin gas model of unifying dark energy and
dark matter with exotic equation of state
which can also explain the recent accelerated expansion of the universe is
investigated by the means of constraining the location of the peak of the CMBR
spectrum. We find that the result of CMBR measurements does not exclude the
nonzero value of parameter , but allows it in the range .Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Конструкция и характеристики неохлаждаемых болометрических инфракрасных решеток на основе аморфного кремния
Uncooled bolometric type thermal detectors, combined into a matrix and placed into a focal plane
array have the following characteristics: low cost, operation at room temperature, compatibility with the silicon
CMOS technology, and high detecting performance; therefore recently it became a hot spot in infrared or terahertz
detection field. The performance of uncooled infrared focal plane detector arrays depends on the optimization
of critical parameters which are determined by geometrical design and the electrical, optical, and thermal physical
properties of the detector materials. We report the study of a fabrication process and characterization of two (2D)
dimensional arrays of uncooled microbolometers based on silicon (α-Si) thermo-sensing films. Because these
arrays substantially reduce sensor size, they are becoming the preferred format for most modern applications

Because these arrays substantially reduce sensor size, they are becoming the preferred format for most modern applications.
Reproductive Safety of Trazodone After Maternal Exposure in Early Pregnancy: A Comparative ENTIS Cohort Study.
Trazodone is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder, but more frequently prescribed off-label at lower doses for insomnia in women of childbearing age. The aim of this study was to assess the risks linked to trazodone exposure during pregnancy for which limited safety data are available.
This multicenter, observational prospective cohort study compared pregnancy outcomes in women exposed to trazodone in early pregnancy against those in a reference group of women exposed to a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) between 1996 and 2021.
The sample included 221 trazodone and 869 SSRI-exposed pregnancies. Exposure to trazodone in the first trimester was not associated with a significant difference in the risk of major congenital anomalies (trazodone [1/169, 0.6%]; SSRI [19/730, 2.6%]; adjusted odds ratio, 0.2; 95% confidence interval, 0.03-1.77). The cumulative incidences of live birth were 61% and 73% in the trazodone and reference group, respectively (25% vs 18% for pregnancy loss and 14% vs 10% for pregnancy termination). Trazodone exposure was not associated with a significantly increased risk of pregnancy termination and pregnancy loss. The rate of small for gestational age infants did not differ between the groups.
This study did not reveal a significant difference in the risk of major congenital anomalies after first trimester exposure to trazodone, compared with SSRI exposure. Although this study is the largest so far, these results call for confirmation through further studies
Label-Free Density Measurements of Radial Peripapillary Capillaries in the Human Retina
Radial peripapillary capillaries (RPCs) comprise a unique network of capillary beds within the retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) and play a critical role in satisfying the nutritional requirements of retinal ganglion cell (RGC) axons. Understanding the topographical and morphological characteristics of these networks through in vivo techniques may improve our understanding about the role of RPCs in RGC axonal health and disease. This study utilizes a novel, non-invasive and label-free optical imaging technique, speckle variance optical coherence tomography (svOCT), for quantitatively studying RPC networks in the human retina. Six different retinal eccentricities from 16 healthy eyes were imaged using svOCT. The same eccentricities were histologically imaged in 9 healthy donor eyes with a confocal scanning laser microscope. Donor eyes were subject to perfusion-based labeling techniques prior to retinal dissection, flat mounting and visualization with the microscope. Capillary density and diameter measurements from each eccentricity in svOCT and histological images were compared. Data from svOCT images were also analysed to determine if there was a correlation between RNFL thickness and RPC density. The results are as follows: (1) The morphological characteristics of RPC networks on svOCT images are comparable to histological images; (2) With the exception of the nasal peripapillary region, there were no significant differences in RPC density measurements between svOCT and histological images; (3) Capillary diameter measurements were significantly greater in svOCT images compared to histology; (4) There is a positive correlation between RPC density and RNFL thickness. The findings in this study suggest that svOCT is a reliable modality for analyzing RPC networks in the human retina. It may therefore be a valuable tool for aiding our understanding about vasculogenic mechanisms that are involved in RGC axonopathies. Further work is required to explore the reason for some of the quantitative differences between svOCT and histology
Born-Infeld-type phantom on the brane world
We study the evolution of Born-Infeld-type phantom in the second
Randall-Sundrum brane scenario, and find that there exists attractor solution
for the potential with a maximum, which implies a cosmological constant at the
late time. Especially, we discuss the BI model of constant potential without
and with dust matter. In the weak tension limit of the brane, we obtain an
exact solution for the BI phantom and scale factor and show that there is no
big rip during the evolution of the brane.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, Reference added, Phys. Rev. D in pres
