Restriction on covenants not to compete have been a long-time feature of legal practice. Rules prohibiting law firms from restricting lawyers\u27 ability to practice or imposing penalties on lawyers that leave a firm attempt to balance the law firm\u27s interest in survival in a competitive market with the countervailing interests of attorney mobility, and protecting clients\u27 choice of counsel. Restrictions on covenants not to compete should be vigorously enforced, and the exception that allows for the forfeiture of retirement benefits by attorneys that choose to leave a firm should be narrowly applied to only those funds to which the departing attorney is not already entitled

Plasmonic nanoparticle enhanced photocurrent in GaN/InGaN/GaN quantum well solar cells
We demonstrate enhanced external quantum efficiency and current-voltage characteristics due to scattering by 100 nm silver nanoparticles in a single 2.5 nm thick InGaN quantum well photovoltaic device. Nanoparticle arrays were fabricated on the surface of the device using an anodic alumina template masking process. The Ag nanoparticles increase light scattering, light trapping, and carrier collection in the III-N semiconductor layers leading to enhancement of the external quantum efficiency by up to 54%. Additionally, the short-circuit current in cells with 200 nm p-GaN emitter regions is increased by 6% under AM 1.5 illumination. AFORS-Het simulation software results were used to predict cell performance and optimize emitter layer thickness
The Economics of Efficient Phosphorus Abatement in a Watershed
This study presents a method to determine efficient environmental targets at a watershed level. Efficient targets are devised by estimating abatement cost and cost of environmental damages and minimizing their sum. The method was applied to a case study of phosphorus pollution in a watershed in Oklahoma. Several cumulative scenarios with alternative abatement options were simulated and efficient targets were determined. As the number of abatement options at disposal to agricultural sources increased, their optimal abatement expanded relative to the abatement at the point source. Vortex Loops and Majoranas
We investigate the role that vortex loops play in characterizing eigenstates
of interacting Majoranas. We first give some general results, and then we focus
on ladder Hamiltonian examples to test further ideas. Two methods yield exact
results: i.) We utilize the mapping of spin Hamiltonians to quartic
interactions of Majoranas and show under certain conditions the spectra of
these two examples coincide. ii) In cases with reflection-symmetric
Hamiltonians, we use reflection positivity for Majoranas to characterize
vortices. Aside from these exact results, two additional methods suggest wider
applicability of these results: iii.) Numerical evidence suggests similar
behavior for certain systems without reflection symmetry. iv.) A perturbative
analysis also suggests similar behavior without the assumption of reflection

Design approaches and materials processes for ultrahigh efficiency lattice mismatched multi-junction solar cells
In this study, we report synthesis of large area
(>2cm^2), crack-free GaAs and GaInP double
heterostructures grown in a multi-junction solar cell-like
structure by MOCVD. Initial solar cell data are also
reported for GaInP top cells. These samples were grown
on Ge/Si templates fabricated using wafer bonding and ion
implantation induced layer transfer techniques. The double
heterostructures exhibit radiative emission with uniform
intensity and wavelength in regions not containing
interfacial bubble defects. The minority carrier lifetime of
~1ns was estimated from photoluminescence decay
measurements in both double heterostructures.
We also report on the structural characteristics of
heterostructures, determined via atomic force microscopy
and transmission electron microscopy, and correlate these
characteristics to the spatial variation of the minority
carrier lifetime
Darwinian Selection and Non-existence of Nash Equilibria
We study selection acting on phenotype in a collection of agents playing
local games lacking Nash equilibria. After each cycle one of the agents losing
most games is replaced by a new agent with new random strategy and game
partner. The network generated can be considered critical in the sense that the
lifetimes of the agents is power law distributed. The longest surviving agents
are those with the lowest absolute score per time step. The emergent ecology is
characterized by a broad range of behaviors. Nevertheless, the agents tend to
