In this study, we discuss pure cycles in mm-machine dual gripper robotic cells. A material handling robot loads/unloads the machines and transports the parts between the machines. The robot is assumed to have dual grippers so that it can carry two parts simultaneously. Identical parts are to processed on machines which have the ability to perform all the operations that a part requires. Manufacturing systems in which there are flexible machines like CNC machines have this kind of ability. We consider pure cycles where each part is processed by only one of the machines and each machine processes exactly one part in a cycle. We first determine the feasibility conditions for the pure cycles and an algorithm that generates all feasible pure cycles for a given number of machines. We analyse 2-machine robotic cells in detail and prove that one of the particular five pure cycles among a huge number of feasible pure cycles always provides the optimal solution. We determine the parameter values in which each of the five cycles is optimal. In 2-machine robotic cells, we show that pure cycles in dual gripper robotic cells always dominate pure cycles in single gripper robotic cells. By using problem parameters, an experimental study is performed and the average and maximum benefits of using a dual gripper robot instead of a single gripper robot are determined. The effects of problem parameters are also examined

Urologic complications after kidney transplant are associated with significant morbidity, mortality, and prolonged hospital stay. An intervention or second surgical procedure is frequently required. Here, we report urologic complications in adult kidney recipients

Rosemary Aromatization of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Process Optimization Including Antioxidant Potential and Yield

Aromatization of olive oil especially by spices and herbs has been widely used technique throughout the ages in Mediterranean diets. The present study was focused on aromatization of olive oil by rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.). Aromatization process was optimized by response surface methodology as a function of malaxation’s conditions (temperature and time). According to authors’ best knowledge it was first time for examination of oil yield performance with antioxidant potential and pigments under effect of aromatization parameters. For all oil samples, values of the free acidity, peroxide, K232 and K270 as quality parameters fell within the ranges established for the highest quality category “extra virgin oil”. Oil yield (mL oil/kg olive paste) changed from 158 to 208 with respect to design parameters. Total phenolic content and free radical scavenging activity as antioxidant potential of olive oil samples were varied in the range of 182.44 – 348.65 mg gallic acid equivalent/kg oil and 28.91 – 88.75 % inhibition of 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl-(DPPH•), respectively. Total contents of carotenoid, chlorophyll and pheophytin a as pigments in oil samples were found to be in between 0.09 – 0.48 mg carotenoid/kg oil, 0.11 – 0.96 mg chlorophyll/kg oil, 0.15 – 4.44 mg pheo α/kg oil, respectively. The proposed models for yield, pigments and antioxidant potential responses were found to be good enough for successful prediction of experimental results. Total phenolics, carotenoids and free radical scavenging activity of aromatized olive oil and oil yield were maximized to gather and optimal conditions were determined as 25°C, 84 min, and 2 % (Rosemary/olive paste; w/w)

Outcome of the Double-J Stent Placement in Pediatric Kidney Transplant: A Single Center Experience.

Double J stent placement at kidney transplant may reduce stenosis or leakage complication rates. However, placement may also increase risk for early urinary tract infection (ie, < 3 mo after transplant). In children, the usefulness of double J stent placement is not well defined

Clinical characteristics and in-hospital outcomes of acute decompensated heart failure patients with and without atrial fibrillation

    No full text
Objective: Atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF) are common cardiovascular diseases. the impact of AF on in-hospital outcomes in acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) is controversial. the aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of AF among hospitalized patients with ADHF and describe the clinical characteristics and in-hospital outcomes of these patients with and without AF. Methods: We examined the multicenter, observational data from the real-life data of hospitalized patients with HF: Journey HF-TR study in Turkey that studied the clinical characteristics and in-hospital outcomes of hospitalized patients with ADHF between September 2015 and September 2016. Results: of the 1,606 patients hospitalized with ADHF, 626 (39%) had a history of AF or developed new-onset AF during hospitalization. the patients with AF were older (71±12 vs. 65±13 years; p<0.001 and more likely to have a history of hypertension, valvular heart disease, and stroke. the AF patients were less likely to have coronary artery disease and diabetes. In-hospital adverse event rates and length of in-hospital stay were similar in ADHF patients, both with and without AF. In-hospital all-cause mortality rate was higher in patients with AF than in patients without AF, although the difference was not statistically significant (8.9% vs. 6.8%; p=0.121). Conclusion: AF has been found in more than one-third of the patients hospitalized with ADHF, and it has varied clinical features and comorbidities. the presence of AF is not associated with increased adverse events or all-cause mortality during the hospitalization time
