This paper highlights the implementation of Forest Rights Act to conserving protected areas in the country; Forest Rights Act (2006) has been passed by the parliament of India with dual aims of protecting the right of forest dwellers and at the same time this Act tries to acquire the involvement of forest dwellers to protect forest/protected areas. The main objective of the paper is to determine the factors which influence motivation to spend efforts in terms of work hour for biodiversity conservation in Nameri National Park. A total of 78 numbers of households were interviewed from two forest villages (i.e. Torajan and Dharikati) and two encroached villages (i.e. Rihajuli and Chopaloga) located in the south buffer of Nameri National Park in Assam during March and June of 2021. Respondents in forests village are more willing to spend effort than that of encroacher’s village to conservation. Sex, age, literacy of the respondents and size of land holdings were found to be significantly related to spending time for biodiversity conservation programme. In this paper attempt has been made to emphasize the nature of motivation of the communities towards biodiversity conservation issues. View Article DOI: 10.47856/ijaast.2021.v08i7.01

Load Balancing and Congestion Control using Congestion Aware Multipath Routing Protocol (CAMRP) in Wireless Networks

    Get PDF
This paper deals with a network-transparent wireless Here,we propose a congestion aware multipath routing protocol called CAMRP (Congetstion Aware Multipath Routing Protocol). The protocol computes multiple paths using proposed congestion aware metric and performs load balancing by a pooling scheme with proper queue utilization of variable interfaces of a node. However, the effective load balancing technique constantly maintains optimal data transmission using optimal path by managing traffic in all the way through congested area. Present Wireless Communications have got the popularity due to its randomness in the deployment and immense support and compatibility for different applications. Due to these applications, the problem of network congestion arises and in turn it results lower throughput and longer delay. In many recent research works, routing protocols dealing with these problems are designed but they are not sufficent to adapt congestion and optimal link quality. Our proposed woirk deals with this problem and the simulation results using ns2 proves that our proposed work on load balancing shows better performance than the existing in terms of throughput, end-to-end delay with heavy traffic load

Food and agriculture is at the heart of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, beginning with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1: End poverty, and Sustainable Development goal (SDG) 2: End hunger. In this paper, the researcher explores data from FAO and WHO surveys conducted over ten years. The researcher applies various interdisciplinary approaches and references the theory of planned behavior to explain the resilience, especially of hedonic aspects of food diets in the context of the living heritage of national dishes. The research references Vavilov’s botanical centers of origin and dispersion to capture the biogeographic underpinnings of global cuisine. The findings should help marketers understand the attributes living heritage products have and the role of consumer beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors regarding the consumption of heritage foods. There are implications for branding theory and practic

The Muga silk (Antheraea assamensis) rearing is confined to the North-East India, particularly, the Brahmaputra valley of Assam. This is perhaps, due to pleasant climatic conditions and distribution ofwide range of muga host plants in this region. In Assam ‘Som’ tree provides the principal food for mugasilkworms which produce the golden coloured silk that is very specific and prestigious to north-easternstates of India and found nowhere else on the globe. The north-eastern region of India, with totalgeographical area of 3,04,426 sq km, is situated in eastern part of India. It lies between 21.33 to 29.28° N.latitudes and 89.42 to 97.24° E. longitudes. The region is a part of eastern Himalaya biodiversity hotspotin the world hence endow with endemic flora and fauna. In this paper the researcher tries to the possibility of traditional way of rearing of muga, rural livelihoodand conservation effort among the indigenous communities of the Brahmaputra valley in Assam. Public Space and Women

    Get PDF
The article proposes to problematize the notion of ‘public space’ by positing it in the context of access by male and female members of the society. The question of access to ‘public space’ is largely governed by the power equation that exists in the society. The patriarchal society restricts the movement of women and their access to public space and heavily curtails the freedom of women. This nonetheless handicaps the creative and enterprising activities of women who live in the shadow of fear for a number of reasons. The heavily sexualized popular culture accentuated by cultural products like films, songs, etc. breeds a kind of fear psychosis in women. No wonder while a large number of women face actual violence and atrocity, others undergo perceived threat even in their movement in public space. The article further seeks to make sense of the ‘fear’ perceived by women, and also tries to suggest possible measures that may be adopted to ensure greater safety for women. The article endeavours to shed light on the way the sexual violence against women may be understood. The issue may not be properly understood only by looking at it from the violence perpetrated against women by men, but by understanding the sexualisation of culture. The popular culture nourished by the patriarchy with its sexist ideology is largely responsible for commodification of women. The article gestures towards a more nuanced and critical understanding of ‘space’ and popular culture for better understanding of the nature of ‘fear’ perceived by women in their access to public space

Introduction- Lung cancer is the most common primary tumor associated with malignant pleural effusion (MPE). In this study, we aim to use cell remnants for cell block preparation after performing liquid-based cytology (LBC) of effusion fluid. Immunohistochemistry was helpful to evaluate those cases having diagnostic dilemmas in LBC and cell block. Method: It was a cross-sectional, prospective, single institution-based study, conducted in the department of Pathology in collaboration with the Department of Respiratory Medicine IPGMER & SSKM Hospital, from January 2018 to June 2019 in the institution. Result: Most of the study population were in between the age group of 51 to 60 years with male predominance and with fever and cough being the predominant symptoms. Liquid-based cytology was positive for malignancy in 58% of cases and suspicious of malignancy in 22% of cases of malignant pleural effusion and it had 95.35% sensitivity, 58.82% specificity in diagnosing malignant pleural effusion.LBC was done followed by cell block preparations are studied further by Immunohistochemistry. Discussion: Morphological features were better identified by the cell block method when compared to LBC. Multiple sections can be obtained for special stain or IHC study which bridges the gap between cytology and histology
