    Time dependent transformations in deformation quantization

    We study the action of time dependent canonical and coordinate transformations in phase space quantum mechanics. We extend the covariant formulation of the theory by providing a formalism that is fully invariant under both standard and time dependent coordinate transformations. This result considerably enlarges the set of possible phase space representations of quantum mechanics and makes it possible to construct a causal representation for the distributional sector of Wigner quantum mechanics.Comment: 16 pages, to appear in the J.     BP Reduction, Kidney Function Decline, and Cardiovascular Events in Patients without CKD.

    BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: In the Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT), intensive systolic BP treatment (target <120 mm Hg) was associated with fewer cardiovascular events and higher incidence of kidney function decline compared with standard treatment (target <140 mm Hg). We evaluated the association between mean arterial pressure reduction, kidney function decline, and cardiovascular events in patients without CKD. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS, & MEASUREMENTS: We categorized patients in the intensive treatment group of the SPRINT according to mean arterial pressure reduction throughout follow-up: <20, 20 to <40, and ≥40 mm Hg. We defined the primary outcome as kidney function decline (≥30% reduction in eGFR to <60 ml/min per 1.73 m2 on two consecutive determinations at 3-month intervals), and we defined the secondary outcome as cardiovascular events. In a propensity score analysis, patients in each mean arterial pressure reduction category from the intensive treatment group were matched with patients from the standard treatment group to calculate the number needed to treat regarding cardiovascular events and the number needed to harm regarding kidney function decline. RESULTS: In the intensive treatment group, 1138 (34%) patients attained mean arterial pressure reduction <20 mm Hg, 1857 (56%) attained 20 to <40 mm Hg, and 309 (9%) attained ≥40 mm Hg. Adjusted hazard ratios for kidney function decline were 2.10 (95% confidence interval, 1.22 to 3.59) for mean arterial pressure reduction between 20 and 40 mm Hg and 6.22 (95% confidence interval, 2.75 to 14.08) for mean arterial pressure reduction ≥40 mm Hg. In propensity score analysis, mean arterial pressure reduction <20 mm Hg presented a number needed to treat of 44 and a number needed to harm of 65, reduction between 20 and <40 mm Hg presented a number needed to treat of 42 and a number needed to harm of 35, and reduction ≥40 mm Hg presented a number needed to treat of 95 and a number needed to harm of 16. CONCLUSIONS: In the intensive treatment group of SPRINT, larger declines in mean arterial pressure were associated with higher incidence of kidney function decline. Intensive treatment seemed to be less favorable when a larger reduction in mean arterial pressure was needed to attain the BP target.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    JPEG2000 image compression and visualization for desktop and mobile clients

    This paper presents an architecture for JPEG2000 image compression and distribution using a Digital Rights Management (DRM) platform in the context of the PIMHAI project. The proposed architecture, based on a client-server interaction, will allow the users to upload images in PCIDSK database (PIX) format using a web-application front-end, and to perform the lossless JPEG2000 compression of such images. The resulting JPEG2000 images are then protected using cryptographic techniques and its intellectual property rights are managed digitally. In the context of the PIMHAI project, the proposed architecture will allow the storage of smaller and cryptographically protected image files in the database. The user access rights enforcement will prevent the access to the images by non authorized users.     Envisat products secure browsing in mobile clients using JPEG2000 interactivity protocol

    Taking advantage of the mobile platforms to interact with the HICOD2000 system has been the motivation for the work described in this paper. Regardless of the limited resources available in mobile platforms the authors demonstrate that using the features of the HICOD2000 system the mobile device might be of major assistance in the field where satellite imagery may have an important and useful role. This paper describes an extension of the HICOD2000 system, available to the public through the ESA Service Support Environment. The EO JPEG2000 compressed products have achieved good compression ratios, minimizing both storage space and bandwidth. Regarding security to sensitive data the system enforces user access rights via a digital rights management platform called OpenSDRM. The mobile device has been endowed with the implementation of the JPIP protocol to optimize network bandwidth as well as the necessary components to interface with the OpenSDRM platform and decode JPSEC protected images: the OpenSDRM wallet and the protection tool.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    Half Quantization

    A general dynamical system composed by two coupled sectors is considered. The initial time configuration of one of these sectors is described by a set of classical data while the other is described by standard quantum data. These dynamical systems will be named half quantum. The aim of this paper is to derive the dynamical evolution of a general half quantum system from its full quantum formulation. The standard approach would be to use quantum mechanics to make predictions for the time evolution of the half quantum initial data. The main problem is how can quantum mechanics be applied to a dynamical system whose initial time configuration is not described by a set of fully quantum data. A solution to this problem is presented and used, as a guideline to obtain a general formulation of coupled classical-quantum dynamics.     Investigation of high pt_{t} events in Nucleus-Nucleus collisions using the Hijing event generator

    In recent years lot of interest has been observed in the nucleus-nucleus collisions at RHIC energies in phenomena related to high ptp_{t} physics \cite{ref1}. The suppression of high ptp_{t} particles and disappearance of back-to-back jets compared to the scaling with number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions indicates that a nearly perfect liquid is produced in these collisions. Results on self shadowing of high ptp_{t} events are presented using hadron multiplicity associated to high ptp_{t} and unbiased events in nucleus-nucleus collisions \cite{ref2} obtained from the hijing event generator.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, Proceedings of the poster presented at Quark Matter 200
