Realizations of Conformal and Heisenberg Algebras in PP-wave-CFT Correspondence
We elaborate on the symmetry breaking pattern involved in the Penrose limit
of spacetimes and the corresponding limit of the CFT
dual. For d=2 we examine in detail how the symmetries contract to products of
rotation and Heisenberg algebras, both from the bulk and CFT points of view.
Using a free field realization of these algebras acting on products of
elementary fields of the CFT with SO(2) R charge +1, we show that this process
of contraction restricts all the fields to a few low angular momentum modes and
ensures that the field with R charge -1 does not appear. This provides an
understanding of several important aspects of the proposal of Berenstein,
Maldacena and Nastase. We also indicate how the contraction can be performed on
correlation functions.Comment: 24 pages, LaTe
Enhanced top-down sensorimotor processing in somatic anxiety
Published: 25 July 2022Functional neuroimaging research on anxiety has traditionally focused on brain networks associated with the psychological aspects of anxiety. Here, instead, we target the somatic aspects of anxiety. Motivated by the growing appreciation that top-down cortical processing plays a crucial role in perception and action, we used resting-state functional MRI data from the Human Connectome Project and Dynamic Causal Modeling (DCM) to characterize effective connectivity among hierarchically organized regions in the exteroceptive, interoceptive, and motor cortices. In people with high (fear-related) somatic arousal, top-down effective connectivity was enhanced in all three networks: an observation that corroborates well with the phenomenology of anxiety. The anxiety-associated changes in connectivity were sufficiently reliable to predict whether a new participant has mild or severe somatic anxiety. Interestingly, the increase in top-down connections to sensorimotor cortex were not associated with fear affect scores, thus establishing the (relative) dissociation between somatic and cognitive dimensions of anxiety. Overall, enhanced top-down effective connectivity in sensorimotor cortices emerges as a promising and quantifiable candidate marker of trait somatic anxiety. This research was supported by the Basque Government through the BERC

Open-closed duality and Double Scaling
Nonperturbative terms in the free energy of Chern-Simons gauge theory play a
key role in its duality to the closed topological string. We show that these
terms are reproduced by performing a double scaling limit near the point where
the perturbation expansion diverges. This leads to a derivation of closed
string theory from this large-N gauge theory along the lines of noncritical
string theories. We comment on the possible relevance of this observation to
the derivation of superpotentials of asymptotically free gauge theories and its
relation to infrared renormalons.Comment: 10 pages, LaTe
Effect of the aqueous extracts of the seeds of Talisia esculenta and Sapindus saponaria on fall armyworm
The effect of aqueous extracts of Talisia esculenta (T.E.) and Sapindus saponaria (S.S.), were evaluated on the development and mortality of 8-14th day-life Spodoptera frugiperda, an important pest of maize. Corn leaves were dipped in the aqueous extracts (1% w/v) and offered as food to the caterpillars. The treated corn leaves with the extracts caused larval mortality (26.71%/T.E.; 63.3%/S.S.) and also showed effect on the larval weight (237.50 mg/T.E.; 86.65 mg/S.S.) when compared with the control (11.3% and 293.45 mg), mortality and larval weight, respectively. The electrophoresis with gelatin (0.1%) showed two very clear white areas (trypsin activity) in the caterpillars midgut of all the treatments. Only the caterpillar treated with S. saponaria presented significant differences, showing trypsin activity (10.59%). Sapindus saponaria appeared better than Talisia esculenta and showed good potential to be used as control agent for S. frugiperda.
Soil fertility of two hundred properties in the southwest Paraná with the presence of native fruit trees
The native fruit trees are of great importance to the Southwest Region of Paraná biome, but little is known about them, especially as the soil fertility in which they are found. Such information is necessary when domestication is intended for orchards usage. The objective of this work was to collect information on the distribution of the native fruit trees in relation to the chemical characteristics of the soil in which they are found, in four municipalities of the Phytophysiognomy Forest and Araucária (DoisVizinhos, Itapejara do Oeste, Verê and São Jorge d'Oeste). The chemical soil characterization for the native fruit trees were applied in the species of jaboticaba tree (Plinia sp.), Surinam cherry tree (Eugenia uniflora L.), sete-capote tree [Campomanesia guazumifolia (Cambess.) O. Berg], cereja-do-mato tree (Eugenia involucrata DC.), guabiroba tree (Campomanesia xanthocarpa Berg), guabiju tree (Myrcianthes pungens), feijoa tree [Acca selowiana (O. Berg) Burret], uvaia tree (E. pyriformis Cambess), yellow and red araça trees (Psidium cattleyanum Sabine). The soil was collected in two hundred properties with the presence of at least some native fruit of natural occurrence, in order to obtain information about the chemical soil characteristics with native fruit presence. In general, only where the native fruits are present, they present weakly acid reaction and high organic matter, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium, as high CTC
