The implications of service quality gaps for strategy implementation
This article addresses the problem of service quality strategy implementation and
proposes three interrelated models: a static model of the organisation; a comprehensive
dynamic model of the implementation process, both synthesised from the literature; and
a mixed model, which integrates static and dynamic models. The mixed model is
combined with the service quality gaps (SQGs) model, drawn at a previous congress
paper, to propose a map of the pattern of SQGs occurring at each implementation stage;
the organisational variables that can be manipulated to eliminate SQGs; and several
implications to practising managers
Melting and Dimensionality of the Vortex Lattice in Underdoped YBa2Cu3O6.60
Muon spin rotation measurements of the magnetic field distribution in the
vortex state of the oxygen deficient high-Tc superconductor YBa{2}Cu{3}O{6.60}
reveal a vortex-lattice melting transition at much lower temperature than that
in the fully oxygenated material. The transition is best described by a model
in which adjacent layers of ``pancake'' vortices decouple in the liquid phase.
Evidence is also found for a pinning-induced crossover from a solid 3D to
quasi-2D vortex lattice, similar to that observed in the highly anisotropic
superconductor Bi{2+x}Sr{2-x}CaCu{2}O{8+y}.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, 5 postscript file
Interlayer hopping properties of electrons in layered metals
A formalism is proposed to study the electron tunneling between extended
states, based on the spin-boson Hamiltonian previously used in two-level
systems. It is applied to analyze the out--of--plane tunneling in layered
metals considering different models. By studying the effects of in--plane
interactions on the interlayer tunneling of electrons near the Fermi level, we
establish the relation between departure from Fermi liquid behavior driven by
electron correlations inside the layer and the out of plane coherence. Response
functions, directly comparable with experimental data are obtained
