Triviality and vacuum stability bounds in the three-loop neutrino mass model

We study theoretical constraints on the parameter space under the conditions from vacuum stability and triviality in the three-loop radiative seesaw model with TeV-scale right-handed neutrinos which are odd under the Z2Z_2 parity. In this model, some of the neutrino Yukawa coupling constants can be of the order of one. Requirement of strongly first order phase transition for successful electroweak baryogenes is also prefers order-one coupling constants in the scalar sector. Hence, it is important to clarify whether this model satisfies those theoretical conditions up to a given cutoff scale. It is found that the model can be consistent up to the scale above 10 TeV in the parameter region where the neutrino data, the lepton flavor violation data, the thermal relic abundance of dark matter as well as the requirement from the strongly first order phase transition are satisfied.Comment: 22 pages, 14 figure

Development of the Counseling Center Assessment of Psychological Symptoms‐Japanese version: Pilot study

There is currently no reliable and valid multidimensional instrument for measuring psychological symptoms among Japanese university students. The purpose of this pilot study was to translate the Counseling Center Assessment of Psychological Symptoms‐62 (CCAPS‐62) into Japanese and evaluate its validity and reliability. Following robust translation procedures, the CCAPS‐Japanese was created. In the validation study, 2,758 undergraduate students from 11 universities (mean age = 19.08 ± 1.85 years) completed the CCAPS‐Japanese. The results of confirmatory factor analysis supported the theoretical eight‐factor structure model of the CCAPS‐Japanese with the exclusion of seven items. The decision to retain/remove items was made by evaluating factor loadings and model fit indices while considering cultural equivalence and structural validity. Using the finalized 55‐item CCAPS‐Japanese, further analyses demonstrated that the eight subscales had acceptable to good internal consistencies (α = .61–.89). Thus, the tool’s validity and reliability were established. The CCAPS‐Japanese may be appropriate for assessing the psychological concerns of Japanese university students.Peer Reviewedhttps://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/153629/1/cpp2412_am.pdfhttps://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/153629/2/cpp2412.pd

A family of dissipative two-dimensional mappings: Chaotic, regular and steady state dynamics investigation

    Get PDF
Abstract Some dynamical properties for a family of two dimensional mappings controlled by three parameters are considered in this paper. For null dissipation and depending on the other control parameters, diffusion in phase space is observed. A connection with the standard mapping is made to determine the range of control parameters leading to unlimited diffusion. In the dissipative case, for low nonlinearity, we obtain the fixed points and an expression to find any periodic orbit with any period, if it exists. For large nonlinearity we investigate the Lyapunov exponents and characterise the steady state of the system for a long time

Large effects on \BsBs mixing by vector-like quarks

We calculate the contributions of the vector-like quark model to \BsBs mixing, taking into account the constraints from the decay B→XsγB\to X_s\gamma. In this model the neutral bosons mediate flavor-changing interactions at the tree level. However, \BsBs mixing is dominated by contributions from the box diagrams with the top quark and the extra up-type quark. In sizable ranges of the model parameters, the mixing parameter xsx_s is much different from the standard model prediction.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, To be published in Phys. Rev.

Enhancement of Vivid-based photo-activatable Gal4 transcription factor in mammalian cells

The Gal4/UAS system is a versatile tool to manipulate exogenous gene expression of cells spatially and temporally in many model organisms. Many variations of light-controllable Gal4/UAS system are now available, following the development of photo-activatable (PA) molecular switches and integration of these tools. However, many PA-Gal4 transcription factors have undesired background transcription activities even in dark conditions, and this severely attenuates reliable light-controlled gene expression. Therefore, it is important to develop reliable PA-Gal4 transcription factors with robust light-induced gene expression and limited background activity. By optimization of synthetic PA-Gal4 transcription factors, we have validated configurations of Gal4 DNA biding domain, transcription activation domain and blue light-dependent dimer formation molecule Vivid (VVD), and applied types of transcription activation domains to develop a new PA-Gal4 transcription factor we have named eGAV (enhanced Gal4-VVD transcription factor). Background activity of eGAV in dark conditions was significantly lower than that of hGAVPO, a commonly used PA-Gal4 transcription factor, and maximum light-induced gene expression levels were also improved. Light-controlled gene expression was verified in cultured HEK293T cells with plasmid-transient transfections, and in mouse EpH4 cells with lentivirus vector-mediated transduction. Furthermore, light-controlled eGAV-mediated transcription was confirmed in transfected neural stem cells and progenitors in developing and adult mouse brain and chick spinal cord, and in adult mouse hepatocytes, demonstrating that eGAV can be applied to a wide range of experimental systems and model organisms

A Model of TeV Scale Physics for Neutrino Mass, Dark Matter and Baryon Asymmetry and its Phenomenology

We discuss some details for the model proposed in Ref. \cite{aks-prl}, in which neutrino oscillation, dark matter, and baryon asymmetry of the Universe can be simultaneously explained by the TeV-scale physics without introducing very high mass scales. An exact discrete Z2Z_2 symmetry is introduced, under which new particle contents (a real singlet scalar field, a pair of charged singlet scalar fields and TeV-scale right-handed neutrinos) are assigned to have odd quantum number, whereas ordinary gauge fields, quarks and leptons, and two Higgs doublets are even. Tiny neutrino masses are generated at the three loop level due to the exact Z2Z_2 symmetry, by which stability of the dark matter candidate is also guaranteed. The extra Higgs doublet is required not only for the tiny neutrino masses but also for successful electroweak baryogenesis. We discuss phenomenological properties of the model, and find that there are successful scenarios in which above three problems are solved simultaneously under the constraint from current experimental data. We then discuss predictions in such scenarios at ongoing and future experiments. It turns out that the model provides discriminative predictions especially in Higgs physics and dark matter physics, so that it is testable in near future.Comment: Version accepted for publication in Physical Review D, 43 pages, 23 figures. Neutrino mass, Dark Matter and Baryon Asymmetry via TeV-Scale Physics without Fine-Tuning

We propose an extended version of the standard model, in which neutrino oscillation, dark matter, and baryon asymmetry of the Universe can be simultaneously explained by the TeV-scale physics without assuming unnatural hierarchy among the mass scales. Tiny neutrino masses are generated at the three loop level due to the exact Z2Z_2 symmetry, by which stability of the dark matter candidate is guaranteed. The extra Higgs doublet is required not only for the tiny neutrino masses but also for successful electroweak baryogenesis. The model provides discriminative predictions especially in Higgs phenomenology, so that it is testable at current and future collider experiments.Comment: 4 pages including 3 figures; version with revised figure

Expression, purification and antimicrobial activity of recombinant pediocin PA-1 M31L, a PA-1 derivative with enhanced stability

    Get PDF
Meeting presentationPediocin, the prototypical class IIa bacteriocin, is an efficient antilisterial molecule. Loss of pediocin PA-1 activity is attributed to methionine oxidation at position 31 and this can be overcome by substituting methionine for leucine (pediocin M31L). The aim of this study was to produce pediocin M31L with enhanced stability by recombinant expression in E. coli cells
